It gives our cybersecurity program an advantage because we can demonstrate that we have a sophisticated solution for shadow IT
Before Auvik bought Saaslio, we struggled with the single sign-on because it would sign us off quickly. I would be presenting to my clients on the software or categorizing, like, "Hey, what is this app used for?" When I was inside Saaslio, it would kick me out, so I would have to log back in. I believe this was fixed when Auvik took over, but I would go into an application and note that this is a critical application and is used for this. I would come off that application screen, and it only took 30 seconds for the window to disappear. It's a little nerve-wracking when you're presenting to your client. I just had to write down the application's purpose for them and go back to update it later. I think they are making changes, so it is improving.

User access management excels but needs enhancements with integration capabilities
I was aware of that because I used to manage these solutions earlier on, but it was purchased by the Procurement team, so I was not involved in any of those. There are certain details I may not be able to disclose currently, but we can speak in general about a number of products and tools that are ongoing. I have not been using access management controls here, so I don't have the latest features or details or hands-on experience in that space. I cannot share all the details about the improvements in security operations since we were exploring some products, but I'm familiar with Saviynt as I was one of their partners for other solutions, and currently, I cannot disclose a lot of performance related to my current roles.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the identification of the various user names used to log into apps that are critical in terms of data security."
"The license monitoring and management capabilities probably top the list of most valuable features in terms of everyday day utility. You can go to customers and say, "You have 100 licenses of Office 365 E3, but you only use 95, so we can adjust your licensing and save you some money.""
"The ability to see what accounts and services are being accessed at any given time is valuable, and that's also true for most of my clients. Another good use is time management. If one of my clients asks me, "Hey, how long is John accessing Dropbox throughout the day?" I can do that with Auvik SaaS Management. Auvik SaaS Management can give me a report on the usage of a single user."
"We can understand and get full visibility into what end-users are using. Most organizations can list off the top five apps that they use but, lo and behold, we're able to discover that there are 30 or 40 apps in use within the organization that nobody knew about."
"We use the solution to track unauthorized apps our employees use so we can talk to them or block the apps at the firewall if needed. More importantly, we track shared credentials and services employees access on company devices, especially when someone's leaving. If someone had access to a shared account, which we try to avoid, but if there was one with a logged-in password, we can change it when we off-board the employee or shut down their account."
"When we offboard an employee, we know which applications that employee used. For example, let's say Bob left the company, but we don't know all the applications he used. We can run a report showing everything Bob accessed, giving us some leverage to go back to the client and say, "Hey, these are all the applications he used. We manage these, and you still need to take care of these." It gives us expectations to provide to our clients."
"Auvik SaaS Management gives us the tools to classify the applications from a management standpoint. It also provides an overview of when various software might be up for renewal on an agreement."
"The most valuable features are application monitoring and reporting. I like putting all the filters on the report to get the desired results. Reporting is one of the essential features we use, depending on what is required. I run it monthly or quarterly. We have some reports scheduled to run monthly to track new applications coming in. We're good at going through them and classifying them."
"The support is very good."
"The first valuable feature of the solution is its interface. The second feature of the solution is the level of flexibility it provides."
"The solution's most valuable feature is its integration with Slack for the notification of access requests."
"The access certification feature is valuable."
"The governance features, such as certification and provisioning, are the most beneficial for enhancing security."
"It is a scalable product."
"This solution has made our team more effective. We need less manual approvals when someone new joins our company. There is less paperwork and fewer support tickets raised for access."
"The big one now is that they're adding AI and machine learning to figure out automated approvals and make recommendations to their reviewers. So, if I bring up Doug McPherson and it says he has access to this application, the system will make a review based on peer group analysis. That's one of the biggest new things. The problem used to be that people would get everything loaded on, and they created too much work for themselves. Now, they can use these policies and start to let the machine pick the less risky things."

Cons

"Integration with macOS and Apple devices could be better. I believe this is something they're working on, but it needs a little more work."
"The user interface and some of the application classification features could be improved. I'd love the ability to bulk-edit some of the applications."
"One area for improvement in the tool , which they said might be on the roadmap, is better integration of features like tagging product owners, leaving notes, and setting statuses such as pending review, approved, deployed, etc. I want to use the product to write notes under an application, like when people start using the Brave Browser, and tag Billy Bob, who manages it. I want a report showing all the products Billy Bob owns, along with associated notes, so I can discuss everything with him in one meeting. Currently, I have to click on each application individually and copy and paste notes elsewhere, which isn't efficient."
"They're working on Auvik's ability to detect when people are using multifactor authentication, but some more automation in that area would be nice."
"The web portal isn't very intuitive, especially for me. I struggle while creating permissions to allow clients to do the portal. It was a little tricky, but I was able to contact people from Auvik SaaS Management, and they helped me."
"They've started working on integrations with other platforms for sharing data across other tools that are commonly used in the industry. I'd like to see that continue to improve. They do have to make the integrations deeper."
"The reporting is excellent, but it could always be better. Sometimes we'd like the reports to be in different formats. Auvik SaaS Management could also be better integrated with some of our other tools. It's like an island unto itself, but we're an Autotask shop. We use Datto RMM and Autotask PSA. It'd be great to see Auvik SaaS Management alerts in our Autotask tools."
"Before Auvik bought Saaslio, we struggled with the single sign-on because it would sign you off quickly. I would be presenting to my clients on the software or categorizing, like, "Hey, what is this app used for?" When I was inside Saaslio, it would kick me out, so I would have to log back in."
"The price of IdentityIQ could be lower. There are additional costs when you buy the licenses, and they force the customers to pay for them."
"The cost can be prohibitive for middle-tier companies."
"The interface should be simple and easier to use."
"Finding integration experts for SailPoint in the North American market can be challenging, and transitioning to a no-code or low-code setup could reduce dependence on specialized skills."
"The product’s cloud offering could be flexible."
"SailPoint IdentityIQ has a primitive AI engine."
"Competitors are advancing by offering integrated solutions encompassing access and privileged access management in a single unified platform. IdentityIQ's focus has remained primarily on identity and access governance, neglecting to expand its offerings to include these additional functionalities within its existing product. Enhancing their product by incorporating modules for access management, privileged access management, and third-party access governance could address this gap."
"The cost of this solution is high. The technical assistance center could be improved. They're very good, but considering the intricacies of the solution, they can further improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution's pricing and licensing model are fair and based on users rather than devices, which helps consolidate tracking and licensing costs."
"There is definitely value from Auvik SaaS Management, so I don't think it's outrageously priced. There's always room for evolution of the model, depending on how the platform is being leveraged."
"Auvik SaaS Management is priced well. It's a no-brainer for us to implement it."
"I think Auvik SaaS Management's pricing is great. We're a managed services company, and one site license covers all our clients."
"The price is great. It doesn't get any better. I told their CEO, "I feel like I'm stealing it from you." I'm serious because the price is amazing."
"You do pay one price for the license but that price depends on what you choose to include as far as the optional modules go."
"It's difficult to say that the solution saved costs because it is quite expensive."
"SailPoint is higher in price as compared to Saviynt. The initial cost of SailPoint is very high. There are additional costs to the standard licensing fees."
"In terms of pricing, SailPoint IdentityIQ is affordable. It's not cheap, and it's not expensive, so the solution is in the middle, price-wise. It also didn't have additional costs, even if my company had different teams that took care of auditing and provisioning and projects that used SailPoint IdentityIQ."
"SailPoint IIQ is the best of best. That is reflected in the pricing of the solution. The pricing is based on the number of identities."
"The product is expensive. I rate its pricing an eight out of ten."
"We pay an annual licensing cost for SailPoint IdentityIQ."
"This is an expensive solution. I would rate it a two and a half out of five for pricing."
