Automation has transformed tax compliance workflows and supports efficient certificate management
I think as far as improvement with Avalara, we are a manufacturing company, so we have some one-off situations or distributors and things of that nature that aren't very well educated on the tax compliance and so it kind of puts us in a position that when we are requesting different certificates, they don't really understand. For example, Idaho, they know that they can use their Idaho certificate and if they are a reseller, they can use it in all 50 states. However, of course, in Avalara, it doesn't work that way. We have to have certificates, whether it is a multi-state form or individual certificates, for those other areas that shipments may occur to be exempt. Otherwise, it won't recognize it.I think the account executive support could definitely be improved for a business customer.

Automated tax reporting has reduced manual work and supports accurate audit-ready filings
Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination has positively impacted my organization by shifting it from a manual process to a more automated process. That shift to automation has affected my team by improving efficiency; it reduced the amount of time it took my team to prepare to gather the information, review it, and report it on our sales tax returns, and it also cut down on some of the time that our other departments, such as accounts payable, had to review invoices. I have seen a return on investment, as we saved time; it took probably three weeks to prepare returns, and now we are able to do it in probably a week.
