Enables seamless integration and data preparation with robust transformation capabilities
AWS Glue's most valuable features include its transformation capabilities, which provide data quality and shape for processing in ML or AI models. It offers transformation options on canvas or through ETL pipelines, notebooks, and code. Additionally, it supports data preparation, cleaning, and filtering seamlessly. AWS Glue also enhances job scheduling and orchestration capabilities, integrating with AWS Glue Studio for comprehensive data workflow management.

Provides users with an initial setup phase, which is fairly simple to manage
I don't know what could be improved in terms of what my company was used to previously or after moving over to Rivery. I have not had much experience with platforms other than Rivery. For me, Rivalry was a way to step up from what we used. To be honest, I am not really sure what improvements could be made in Rivery. Pricing is a little steep for smaller organizations, I would say. The product's pricing model could be a little bit better. I am not aware if there are additional packages for smaller organizations, but if there are no packages available, then maybe that would be a good way to introduce something new in the tool.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"If I'm working with big data, common languages like Python work quite nicely, which is advantageous."
"It's fairly straightforward as a product; it's not very complicated."
"AWS Glue's most valuable features include its transformation capabilities, which provide data quality and shape for processing in ML or AI models."
"The key role for Glue is that it hosts our metadata before rolling out our actual data. This is the major advantage of using this solution and our clients client have been very satisfied with it."
"The solution is stable and reliable."
"I like its integration and ability to handle all data-related tasks."
"The AWS Glue Data Catalog provides metadata management and schema discovery. AWS Glue simplifies data transformation with automatic schema detection, incremental data updates, and integration with other AWS services."
"AWS Glue is a good solution for developers, they have the ability to write code in different languages and other software."
"The solution's most valuable features are that it is quick to connect and simple to use."
"Connects to many APIs in the market and new ones are being added all the time."

Cons

"AWS Glue's error handling is difficult."
"Cost-wise, AWS Glue is expensive, so that's an area for improvement. The process for setting up the solution was also complex, which is another area for improvement."
"I am quite technical, yet when it comes to data pipelines, I prefer using GUIs over code-based calls. It might be easier with a different skill set."
"The solution could be cheaper. The price of the solution is an area that needs improvement."
"The interface for AWS Glue could improve, they do not put a lot of details. You can write the code, in PySpark or in Scala, which is a big advantage, it is only easy to use for a developer. It will be difficult for new users to enter the cloud environment."
"AWS Glue should be more reliable and faster in processing. Enhancing the speed of data processing would be beneficial."
"Beginners need additional support as it currently lacks some features required for complex transformations, often necessitating custom Python coding."
"The solution should offer features for streaming data in addition to batching data."
"Pricing is a little steep for smaller organizations, I would say. The product's pricing model could be a little bit better."
"Lineage and an impact analysis or logic dependency are lacking."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"AWS Glue uses a pay-as-you-go approach which is helpful. The price of the overall solution is low and is a great advantage."
"Its price is good. We pay as we go or based on the usage, which is a good thing for us because it is simple to forecast for the tool. It is good in terms of the financial planning of the company, and it is a good way to estimate the cost. It is also simple for our clients. In my opinion, it is one of the best tools in the market for ETL processes because of the fact that you pay as you use, which separates it from other big tools such as PowerCenter, Pentaho Data Integration, and Talend."
"If you are using the solution for an enterprise business, it will be expensive."
"I rate the tool's pricing a four out of ten."
"AWS Glue is a paid service that doesn't come under the free trial of AWS."
"Technical support is a paid service, and which subscription you have is dependent on that. You must pay one of them, and it ranges from $15,000 to $25,000 per year."
"This solution is affordable and there is an option to pay for the solution based on your usage."
"It is an expensive product. I rate its pricing a nine out of ten."
"I rate the tool's price as six out of ten if I consider the lowest price to be one and the highest price to be ten."
