Has successfully filtered malicious traffic and allowed country-specific access controls
For improvement in AWS WAF, we can have better monitoring. One of the things that should be improved in AWS WAF is the monitoring; we need to identify the requests and where they are coming from. If it's a bot, we should differentiate the requests, whether they are automated or not. The way we see it now is just mentioned as a percentage from bots and actual users, which should include proper graphs and detailed information. We also need a feature where we can filter specific requests. If there are scripts in the requests, we should be able to filter those requests to see if there are any scripts running from them.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One common use case is using detection protection for enhancing security models in AWS. Another use case is implementing log analysis and response recovery procedures for email services."
"The product’s availability, ease of configuration, and documentation are valuable."
"The solution is stable."
"AWS WAF has a lot of integrated features and services. For example, there are security services that can be integrated very well for our customers."
"Their technical support has been quite good."
"Its best feature is that it is on the cloud and does not require local hardware resources."
"AWS WAF is something that someone from a cloud background or cloud security background leverages. If they want to natively use a solution in the cloud, AWS WAF comes in handy. It's very useful for that, and the way we can fine-tune the WAF rules is also nice."
"The customized billing is the most valuable feature."
"The product’s most valuable is WAF. The authentication feature helps us protect WordPress sites."

Cons

"The cost management has room for improvement."
"It's a bit difficult to apply the right rules for the right security."
"AWS WAF can be improved if the dashboard is enhanced in such a way that everything will be displayed automatically without you going in there to see what is going on."
"We should be able to do proper whitelisting."
"On the UI side, I would like it if they could bring back the geolocation view on the corner."
"The product must provide more features."
"There is room for improvement in pricing."
"AWS WAF could improve by making the overall management easier. Many people that have started working with AWS WAF do not have an easy time. They should make it easy to use."
"The product’s performance for caching feature needs improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of AWS WAF is reasonable, it is not expensive and it is not cheap."
"There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"For our infrastructure, we probably pay around $16,000 per month for AWS WAF. Because alternative WAF solutions provide even more features, I think the AWS WAF is a bit pricey"
"Its price is fair. There is a very fair amount that they charge. It has a pay-as-you-go model, so it pretty much depends on how much a user uses it. As per the cloud norms, the more you use, the more you pay. I would rate it a five out of ten in terms of pricing."
"It's an annual subscription."
"The product’s pricing is reasonable."
"It's quite affordable. It's in the middle."
"I rate the product price a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is high price, and ten is low price"
"The product is affordable."
