The solution is robust and affordable, but it needs to improve its scalability and visibility of integrations
The initial setup is easy. It is very simple to start with. The last release from Axway provided many ways to simplify and speed up integration. The solution is deployed on the cloud and on-premises. We use Google, Amazon, and Azure as our cloud providers. The time taken for deployment is very short because the tool is robust.

Real-time data streaming has simplified transformations and kept enterprise databases synchronized
Oracle GoldenGate is good, but I would like to improve it. There is a need for whoever installs and configures Oracle GoldenGate to set the correct parameters for the use cases we need to use. In some cases, we had performance problems related to the streaming because there was a lot of information to stream concurrently. However, you can tune Oracle GoldenGate to use more RAM on the source side or more processes. I think that sometimes what is missing is knowledge about the tool from the person responsible for configuration. At this moment, Oracle GoldenGate is a very good tool, and I do not know in which area we can improve it. Perhaps the debug part of the tool could be improved. In some cases, I use the utility for how Oracle GoldenGate generates messages about the statements that it streams because of bugs, and in some cases, it is not very user-friendly. It may be possible to improve the API or the path related to debugging, but not the tool itself. The tool itself is good. I remember that in some configurations, we had problems with the streaming of DDL, which are changes to Oracle object structures such as tables and procedures. A new feature could be to perform streaming for operational objects such as procedures, functions, packages, or grants. This would synchronize source and target for these aspects, not only for data or the main types of structures, but also for others. I remember that there was some configuration in which you performed the streaming of the entire schema, or if you performed streaming for only tables, then you were unable to stream grants and other Oracle objects. I think it is important to introduce that capability.

Pros

"The most valuable feature is that API Gateway is extremely flexible for any feature, such as connecting to Active Directory to pull the users and their authentication information."
"Axway AMPLIFY Application Integration is very easy to use."
"The product is robust."
"Axway AMPLIFY Application Integration is quite a stable solution."
"The most valuable feature is that API Gateway is extremely flexible for any feature, such as connecting to Active Directory to pull the users and their authentication information. There are three ways to connect to Active Directory, and the reason for this is that the computing environments of our customers are very different. Every feature in API Gateway has got multiple methodologies for accomplishing those tasks, which is important because customers are constantly changing their security models, IT models, networks, etc. API Gateway is very flexible. It is not a one size fits all sort of situation where it is very rigid, and you can only use these pull-down menus, and that's all it ever does. It is much more open than that. It can give you fabulous reports on your users, usage, security issues, and the data sets that are going through there. You'll suddenly have visibility on the movement of data within or between your organization and other organizations. The other thing is that you're connecting API to API, which is machine to machine. The things that were done manually in an Excel spreadsheet before exchanging data through email are now done machine to machine and server to server. It speeds up the velocity of your business."
"You can use Oracle GoldenGate as a DR for your system."
"The platform's most helpful features are its speed and its guarantee of data replication from one database to another."
"The product's initial setup phase was very simple."
"CDC is the most valuable feature."
"We use the tool to pull on-prem data."
"We are using it for getting data back."
"It is quite scalable."
"GoldenGate offers an excellent ROI if you use the product cleverly."

Cons

"Because it is so flexible, you really need someone who knows Axway Gateway or has been through the training and is certified. Just because you know APIs doesn't mean you're going to walk into that API Gateway and understand what to click on. If you're going to get something done quickly, you need to find an engineer from a company who has some experience with it. It is easy to learn, but if you're doing on-the-job training, it is going to take you longer to get your project accomplished."
"The most important point to improve is the capability to deploy in large enterprises."
"Because it is so flexible, you really need someone who knows Axway Gateway or has been through the training and is certified."
"The problem is the registry to configure the systems, and it's not really scalable for companies with offices worldwide."
"The product must improve its visibility and scalability."
"Base versions where a bit buggy particularly during recovery after there were machine/host crashes or unexpected shutdowns."
"The price of Oracle GoldenGate should be lowered. It is expensive compared to other solutions."
"The solution is quite costly, and if they could reduce their pricing, it would be more economical to implement."
"GoldenGate is expensive. It's costly because this solution is unique in our market. The GoldenGate Cloud Service is cheaper than the on-premise solution."
"Monitoring must be a bit more enhanced."
"While we like the CDC feature, it has some limitations in terms of what we can do and how to configure what we need to do."
"You cannot put everything in Golden Gate for the license and large models."
"Oracle GoldenGate's installation is not user-friendly, we had to read a lot of documentation for the setup and configuration."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"API Gateway is priced on the number of transactions you run through it. API Gateway is free, and you can install as many API Gateways as you like or are necessary for your network. For example, if all of the data is inside your network or firewall, you may just need one API Gateway. If you have external customers trying to come into your organization through your firewall, you're going to need one API Gateway outside the firewall and one inside the firewall. If you have a lot of remote offices, you may want to put API Gateway in some of those offices as well. They only charge you for your usage of it. In other words, the number of transactions going through it. That's a good benefit."
"The product is not expensive."
"Users need to pay an annual licensing fee for the solution."
"The product is expensive."
"It is an expensive product."
"The solution would be costly for a small organization."
"Licensing for Oracle GoldenGate is paid yearly."
"The one feature that I think Oracle could perhaps consider is, at the moment, the Veridata option is an extra cost. Golden Gate is an expensive product. You pay a lot for the best. But not including the Veridata license to prove that everything is working correctly... The big improvement for me would be to have that license built in. That would take it to the next level. That would make it a much better product. You may want to look at buying term licenses if you've just got a single migration to do. In that situation, you might want a term license for perhaps a year to save a lot of money, rather than buying a perpetual license."
"The return on investment would make it a worthwhile deal."
"We pay a yearly licensing fee for Oracle GoldenGate, which is very expensive."
"We do like the price of this solution."
