Standardized our Java estate and have reduced licensing costs while maintaining strong support
Azul Zulu's ability to allow us to standardize our Java estate on a single and well-supported platform stands out as one of its best features. This standardization simplifies our compliance audits and ensures all our applications receive timely security updates.Azul Zulu positively impacts our organization by providing a platform that allows us to standardize Java on a well-supported platform. Without the high cost associated with other proprietary vendors, Azul Zulu provides an excellent platform for running our applications.

Has enabled building responsive multi-threaded applications while supporting rapid deployment workflows
Microsoft .NET Framework has already made significant improvements by becoming open source. Many developers are contributing to Microsoft .NET Framework, not just Microsoft itself. They have ported it to many platforms and allow a healthy ecosystem of open source tools. They have moved from Visual SourceSafe to supporting Git with Microsoft Visual Studio. Their IDE, Visual Studio Code, is open source and multi-platform. There are many third-party tools available, including AI-based tools such as Cursor and Bolt, which are forks of Visual Studio Code. Based on my understanding, I don't have any suggestions for improvement as they are already doing an excellent job.

"The most valuable thing about Microsoft .NET Framework is that it is an enterprise-grade language and platform."
"The most valuable features are the customization and the support moving towards a .Net framework."
"Microsoft .NET Framework reduces the cost of entry and enables the development of applications with mature and enterprise features, thereby lowering the entry barriers."
"The .NET framework is a mature platform that is very helpful and saves time during the software development process."
"The way Microsoft adapted to the corporate customers, offered stability and scalability, and also the quality of support were some of the reasons we switched."
"Ease of use, the richness of the libraries and basically very good development tools."
"I like that ASP.NET is used for the framework and the core web services."

Cons

"Improvements for Azul Zulu could include more automated tools for unused code visibility integrated directly into the standard portal to help further optimize our cloud footprints."

"I would like to see a better response time from the technical support."

"Microsoft's strategy is not scalable, especially with the Visual Studio environment."
"The product could have a better framework for application development."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The Microsoft .NET Framework is free of charge, without licensing cost."
"The product’s pricing is a bit high."
"The pricing could be cheaper."
"In the interim, there's no need to purchase videos for viewing. Microsoft has made significant moves in the .NET space, starting with their response in Visual Studio Code and now providing Visual Studio entirely for free. This is a notable shift from the past when we used to pay substantial amounts for technical subscriptions. Previously, a group of ten developers could cost several thousand dollars annually for licensing. However, the current trend is to offer these tools for free to maintain their dominance in the developer market. The market dynamics have changed, and now developers can freely download Visual Studio, making it a preferred choice over other paid options."
"The solution is free but you need to pay for a license for the hosting service."
"It's an expensive solution"
"We have an annual license, and we pay extra for extended support."
"The product and support for this solution are free for everyone."
