Has supported secure data storage with incremental backups and centralized monitoring
Azure Backup supports all the features that we need, so additional features are not an immediate need for me. The documentation for Azure Backup seems okay for me; it is good overall, but it should be more descriptive for each item. It should elaborate more on how backup and restore are fulfilled in different scenarios. One of the reviews indicates that Azure Backup needs improvements for specific backup options beyond just full VM snapshots. I believe it should be improved actually. Regarding specific backup options, I say there should be improvements compared to how they provided them in older days.

A competitive and balanced solution that offers solid performance at a reasonable price
I worked very closely with ExaGrid in Singapore. We are trying to build up the market for ExaGrid in Vietnam. We hope to be a big distributor for ExaGrid and that the picture will improve next year. Regarding the technology of ExaGrid, they have a landing zone, and now it's a very exhaustive solution, especially compared with Dell Data Domain and HPE. HPE offers normal storage without any special solution. Dell has DD Boost, and so the performance is high. On that basis, I rate the ExaGrid Tiered Backup Storage number with an overall score of eight out of ten. People might be more familiar with Data Domain or StoreOnce. And if people want a professional solution, there are only three brands.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The initial setup was very easy."
"When it comes to Azure Backup, the advantage is that it's native and it's very easy to configure. We don't require a separate tool or manage something on a separate server. At the backend, it's managed by Microsoft itself, and we don't need to manage it."
"There is only one feature, and that is the backup."
"The daily backups have become easier since we no longer need to handle large backups. The use of Azure Backup as a service has proven reliable and simplified our daily operations. Previously, we relied on LTO backups for data retention, but after migrating to the cloud and adopting Azure Backup, the delivery process has become smoother."
"It offers seamless integration."
"The compression features save us money and speed up the backup and restore process."
"The principal use is as a backup solution for the Azure environment because we use 365 solutions."
"The most valuable features of Azure Backup for us are its flexible retention options and the ability to recover to a second region with geo-replication and read access."
"I like the performance of the restore feature."

Cons

"We would like to see some kind of notification given to the user that a file was not synchronized well or what may have happened."
"Ransomware protection is missing in Azure Backup."
"It still does not have a lot of customization, especially if your workloads are not in Azure."
"I believe more options could be available to understand better what's happening in the system. Additionally, automating the client updates and connector updates would be beneficial. Updating the connector from time to time can be challenging, and it could be made more transparent and straightforward for users. Moreover, another drawback lies in the time it takes to test full data backup recovery. Deploying a full recovery takes longer. We need to allocate a longer period for complete data recovery to establish the environment again."
"For companies frequently accessing data or not using Microsoft Azure, the solution may not be very helpful."
"The area that I believe needs improvement in Azure Backup is the restoring time."
"I would like to have the option to increase the frequency of the backups. Azure Backup does backups on an hourly basis, but I would prefer it to take backups more often."
"Azure Backup must include features similar to enterprise solutions."
"We have to do a lot of POC to show why ExaGrid is good."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have enterprise-level pricing. I rate the pricing a five out of ten."
"There is a cost per terabyte for using this solution."
"The price is somewhat high and could be lower."
"Considering the fact that our company's enterprise-sized customers use the solution, the product's price is fine and is not on the higher side of the spectrum."
"The price should be cheaper, but it's affordable if you use the yearly subscription."
"The pricing of this solution is good, and it is one of the easiest things that you can sell Azure with."
"Azure Backup can be expensive if you are not vigilant about your storage steering."
"We are paying about $100,000 USD per year, just for a couple of servers."
"ExaGrid is a one-time investment."
