Azure Backup supports all the features that we need, so additional features are not an immediate need for me. The documentation for Azure Backup seems okay for me; it is good overall, but it should be more descriptive for each item. It should elaborate more on how backup and restore are fulfilled in different scenarios. One of the reviews indicates that Azure Backup needs improvements for specific backup options beyond just full VM snapshots. I believe it should be improved actually. Regarding specific backup options, I say there should be improvements compared to how they provided them in older days.

Experience with offsite backup enhances data integrity and reduces on-premise reliance
One of the features of Veritas Alta SaaS Protection that customers are looking for is immutability. This is the most important feature. With the cloud, Veritas Alta SaaS Protection is actually in the cloud, which means they have unlimited space to do their backups. They can expand on a need-to-need basis. The automated recovery feature of Veritas Alta SaaS Protection makes the recovery much easier, as opposed to earlier methods where we were using scripts to do the restore. Currently, it's automated so you just do a click. You select the feature in a graphical interface, making it easy to use even for a newbie.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's easy to deploy."
"Microsoft technical support is okay; I never had any problem with it, and compared to Amazon Web Services, I think I like Microsoft's support because I just have to call them to obtain all the support that I need, and they are very proactive, helping you build solutions since they know that your business will grow and mature after helping you design the solution, provide you with tools, and free licenses."
"I have no issues with the stability at all. So I don't necessarily care about the stability of the product. I look more at whether or not can I recover. And I haven't had a failed recovery yet. I've got no failed recoveries of all my years."
"It offers seamless integration."
"I would recommend this solution to other companies because it's an enterprise product that suits all requirements."
"The most valuable features of Azure Backup for us are its flexible retention options and the ability to recover to a second region with geo-replication and read access."
"The most valuable feature of Azure Backup is its ease of use and good integration with other Azure services."
"It is easy to schedule backups."
"Veritas is loaded with features because the appliance is ready to integrate with the cloud in cases where the customers have a hybrid or cloud environment."
"It's a good solution. It's pretty stable."
"We're comfortable using this kind of technology. It's user-friendly."
"It's very comprehensive. It's one of the first brands to appear in its field."
"The solution is stable; I haven't experienced any bugs or glitches on it."
"The duplication is the solution's most valuable feature."
"The solution is quite stable, and we haven't had any problems over the past five years of use."
"The automated recovery feature of Veritas Alta SaaS Protection makes the recovery much easier, as opposed to earlier methods where we were using scripts to do the restore."

Cons

"Areas of Azure Backup that have room for improvement include the VM backup, which creates multiple snapshots. When I select a snapshot every two days, it creates numerous snapshots, but during restoration, it provides only very few of them for the full restore."
"I think that what the product lacks now is an AI system; if we had that, we'd be able to more easily upgrade the hardware system."
"The reporting functionality of Azure Backup needs improvement."
"Azure Backup is limited to certain workloads. It would be helpful if Microsoft focused on enabling backups for Oracle and other unsupported databases."
"The extensibility onto hybrid environments needs a bit of tweaking for those on-prem."
"On-prem can be complex to set up but the cloud is simple."
"The product must improve on a database level."
"Azure Backup's licensing model is very challenging because it doesn't give a clear picture."
"An area for improvement is the product's performance, especially how long it takes to do a job."
"The backup reports and the dashboard need improvement."
"The solution does lack a lot of features, and we're considering switching."
"The go-between is a Veritas partner, so the customer support was not that good."
"Other people will prefer this solution because they're used to it. However, from my point of view, you have more breaks, more failures on it than you will with Commvault."
"Licensing has been a struggle."
"The technical team wasn't very helpful."
"Licensing has been a struggle. It went from bronze, silver to gold. Licensing needs more sophistication. It has features that are sold as separate add-ons."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Azure Backup is a product that is priced at a cheap rate, and it is a great tool."
"It is a very cheap cloud solution."
"The pricing of this solution is ok, but I'm expecting that the price will decrease in the future."
"We are paying about $100,000 USD per year, just for a couple of servers."
"It is incredibly cost-effective and offers fixed pricing, with no additional fees for the licensing."
"Pay as you go is the pricing model."
"The pricing of this solution is good, and it is one of the easiest things that you can sell Azure with."
"We do not have any additional costs for Azure Backup."
"The program is quite expensive."
"The tool is expensive compared to Veeam."
"I would rate this solution's pricing as five out of five."

"SaaS Backup isn't the most expensive solution."
