Ease of backup and restore improves data management with reliable support
The interface of BDRSuite Backup & Replication is pretty intuitive. Regarding their marketing strategy, I'm very bad at marketing. I always get a little edgy when people try to shove their product in my face. There are two sides to the story. If you don't know something exists, you might not even start to look for it unless you really know that you need it. If you are explicitly looking for a solution, then you'll find it. People that don't know that they should do backup don't have a place in IT. I rate BDRSuite Backup & Replication 8.5 out of 10.

Trustworthy and provides good availability
Our administrator found the solution easy to use, but once that administrator left, it felt very overwhelming to the individual who took it over. It could be more of a knowledge transfer situation that didn't happen, but we didn't know if it was easy to use. Precisely Assure QuickEDD is deployed on the cloud in our organization. The implementation of QLED helped us with our recovery time objective and was a seamless transition. In order to utilize the product to its fullest potential, users should be knowledgeable of what it offers. They should also form a relationship with the person who is their representative. Overall, I rate the solution an eight or nine out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The support side of it, the usability, the ease of it: It is user friendly; we've tried other software before and it wasn't that great on the user front, but this software seems pretty straightforward."
"Of the software that I license, I feel I get more value from this than any others."
"The restore feature is the most valuable; it's easy to restore."
"Because all our servers are hosted on VMware, the VMware backup is the most valuable feature. The integration and backup with VMware are very good."
"I back up one particular server with close to 1.2 TB, and the way the software compresses it is close to 600 or 700 TB. Vembu compresses it to close to 450 gigabytes, that's gigabytes. So that’s really amazing, the way in which the backup compression happens."
"The tech support is phenomenal."
"BDR Suite helps us deliver an enterprise-level data protection solution and reduce our budgets."
"The way in which the backup compression happens is really amazing, saving me almost 50 percent of my file storage space on SAN."
"Synchronous applications are valuable."
"The most valuable feature of Precisely Assure QuickEDD is the backup system."
"Its initial setup is fine; it is straightforward and easy."

Cons

"I have seen that the BDRSuite user interface can be less intuitive and more challenging to navigate compared to other similar products."
"I have had issues where it was working and then it stopped and I had to diagnose what had changed or gone wrong to get it back up."
"It's not a ten because the accent of the customer support agents is very difficult to understand."
"There's a feature that does syncing with AWS Cloud backup online. It's not that straightforward to get it set up."
"What I would love to see on the dashboard are graphs, per backup job. I want to see the month and the days in it... If a job has failed, when did it actually fail and what percentage of it failed? Did it fail completely, 75 percent or 100 percent or did it only fail partially?"
"The process is a bit cumbersome when you remove an agent, delete that job, and add the agent to the same server. Even though the agent is already installed in that server, the system does not recognize it. We have to uninstall the current agent, restart the server, install the push agent - a new agent - and then restart the server. I think they should try to avoid that."
"For the more sophisticated backups that do not have a set backup process, procedures that are outside of the norm, it would be nice if we had more control and did not have to use their technical support. While they're very responsive and have always come through in a reasonable time frame, we would like to be able to manage everything on our own."
"I have had issues where it was working and then it stopped and I had to diagnose what had changed or gone wrong to get it back up."
"There should be more interactive dashboards."
"It is expensive. The cost varies based on your requirements."
"Our administrator found the solution easy to use, but once that administrator left, it felt very overwhelming to the individual who took it over."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is very cost efficient, effective. I’d say it's one-third the cost of Veritas when compared to the server backups. I even tried image backups on Acronis, but Acronis is very expensive. So these are some of the key reasons why I opted for it."
"One thing to note is that when you configure which virtual machine you're going to back up, if it's on one physical machine, they license it there. If it automatically fails over to a second machine, the license doesn't automatically move over with it. If they could make that a little more streamlined, that would be an improvement."
"It has actually benefited my operation a fair bit. VMware requires a special hardware while Hyper-V runs on pretty much anything. It doesn't require any special hardware, so it saves a bit of money. Because Vembu does Hyper-V backup, there is no limit on how many VMs you can have. The newer version has a 100 VM limit on the single license, which has been greatly beneficial, because on one host a 100 VMs is a fair bit."
"I think it is a good value for the price."
"The license is per unit and is expensive."
"We chose this solution because it was cheaper and easier to use than Veeam and other solutions of this type."
"The product's pricing is of good value. It was much more affordable than the alternative solution to it, which was Veeam. That would be the closest competitor, and between those two, Vembu was much more affordable. It seemed reasonable for what we needed to do."
"The pricing and licensing structure are spot on. I don't think there's anything out there in the market that does either the licensing structure or the pricing structure better."
"It is expensive. The cost varies based on your requirements. If you want to manage it, there is an extra cost."
