A potential area for improvement is enhancing support for cluster environments and distributed Vaults. Clients in multiple countries that need central access have different challenges that require better solutions from CyberArk. For financial services, CyberArk can improve incident response by ensuring fast support for critical priority tickets to meet compliance requirements. Providing more documentation on CyberArk is recommended for new team members to enhance their troubleshooting capabilities. I understand it's up to the client, but 99% fail to change the demo key, so it's crucial for CyberArk to emphasize changing the key and documenting it as part of the installation process.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has allowed us to have a central system for handling security profiles for all users on different target systems e.g. Oracle, Unix, and Active Directory."
"I have used other privileged account management tools in the past; this, by far, outranks them as far as features and usability."
"The flexibility of integrating with other technologies is important because of a lot of applications - a lot of COTS products - are not supported when we are bringing the application IDs. The CyberArk platform provides a lot of opportunities to do customization."
"CyberArk's GUI is user friendly."
"The most valuable feature is the special management. It records the activity and the actions that we use for auditing."
"The main, most valuable aspect is its capability to secure our environment."
"I would rate CyberArk Privileged Access Manager nine out of ten."
"The solution is scalable."
"It's secure and reliable. I especially appreciate that it's locked down and only allows access to authorized components."

Cons

"This product launches a request to add or remove accesses on different target systems but it doesn't check that the access granted was previously requested."
"Authentication to the PVWA utilises integration to IIS. Therefore, it is not as strong as desired."
"This is probably a common thing, but they do ask for a lot of log files, a lot of information. They ask you to provide a lot of information to them before they're willing to give you anything at all upfront. It would be better if they were a little more give-and-take upfront: "Why don't you try these couple of things while we take your log files and stuff and go research them?" A little bit of that might be more helpful."
"Better search functionality in the EPM console. It becomes difficult to search lengthy policies for specific items."
"Technical support is average. They are not so great, because the first level support partner or distributor has to provide the support and customers cannot contact CyberArk support directly."
"We require IAM (identify and access management) capability at the administrator level because we need more identification."
"With regards to potential improvements for the CyberArk product, I find the product quite expensive and I would like to see the cost reduced."
"What could be improved in CyberArk Privileged Access Manager is the licensing model. It should be more flexible in terms of the users. Currently, it's based on the number of users, but many users only log in once in four months or once in five months. It would be great if the licensing model could be modified based on user needs. We even have users who have not logged in even once."
"PAM could be more user-friendly and CyberArk could update the documentation to include more real-world examples. You have to learn it yourself through trial and error. In particular, the online documentation should have more information about troubleshooting."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Cost efficiency is the number one thing that can be improved in my mind. This would change lots of companies minds on purchasing the product."
"The pricing for CyberArk is on the higher side compared to other Privileged Access Management products. Something should be done regarding enterprise licensing for long-standing customers."
"They have two types of licensing: purchase and subscription. You have to pay for each admin user, such as Microsoft admin, mail admin, database admin, etc."
"From a client perspective, CyberArk's pricing is fair but there is a significant increase each year. They should limit the price increase because this could potentially drive customers to other partners. Price changes should be at defined intervals. There should not be sudden jumps."
"CyberArk is good at what they do, and the price reflects that. You have to pay the price for the same."
"The product's licensing is yearly. I would rate the solution's pricing a six out of ten."
"Pricing is a problem. CyberArk is expensive compared to other products I know. It is similar to buying a German car. It comes with all the bells and whistles, but some companies may find it too expensive."
"The price of this solution is expensive."
