Efficient email security and link scanning streamline network protection
One area for improvement is the user-friendliness of the UI. It is not intuitive to manage policies as I have to go through several pages to find necessary information. Additionally, the profile management for scanning and protection profiles is clumsy and could be more straightforward. There should be some simplification in changing profiles due to performance issues.

Improving alert visibility and reporting has reduced workload and strengthened security posture
Huntress Managed EDR could be improved by providing more visibility into each alert that comes in and what action was taken on it. There have been times when an alert was received through Microsoft Defender indicating an account was accessed, when in reality it was blocked by a conditional access policy, yet when checking the Huntress portal, that event does not appear at all, lacking indication that it was raised and investigated as not a threat. The reporting in Huntress Managed EDR is fairly basic, as the only available report is effectively an executive summary. Although it contains useful information, other platforms have reporting engines that are much more robust and customizable, functionality that appears to be missing in Huntress.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Bitdefender MDR's integration capabilities have been smooth, leveraging cloud-based and various threat intelligence feeds. Bitdefender's array of technologies, including remote mapping and machine learning, with numerous patents, ensures effective threat management."
"If you're looking at an enterprise with centralized control, you can actually push the policies to all your clients' endpoints easily across VPNs."
"We find it extremely effective. We probably have over 500 endpoints, and we have not had any reports of viruses since we have installed it. It is very reliable."
"I would rate the stability a nine out of ten."
"A lot of the AI that is running in the background that deals with the response on different detections is important, and the learning from the labs themselves is also very important. That's where they set themselves apart from others. A lot of the other products that are out there on the market probably have a lot more bells and whistles, but they are not necessarily directed at the heart of what MDR should do, at least in my opinion. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and in my opinion, if you're getting back to the basics and doing what its true intention is, they've done a very good job in comparison to others."
"A user cannot uninstall or disable the tool from their systems. It has ransomware blocking and zero-day threat protection. The tool also alerts us whenever a system or device has been compromised. It has a web control feature to manage website categories."
"The most valuable features include email security and web URL scanning, particularly the link scanning aspect."
"It's easy to use."
"Their SOC is super responsive and does a great job of catching incidences and being on top of any issues that arise."
"Users usually note improvements in a matter of days. In others, it is immediately. It varies according to the environment."
"Huntress' best feature is the threat-hunting expertise that is part of their 24/7 SOC."
"I evaluate Huntress Managed EDR as the best choice we have made for antivirus endpoint protection EDR solutions specifically for the SMB market."
"Huntress Managed EDR requires very little from my end, as I get updates and dashboard alerts for changes and issues."
"The EDR product is simple to install. It is low maintenance. All the alerts go to Huntress first, and their analyst team reviews them and sends actionable things our way."
"Huntress Managed EDR has positively impacted my organization, with improvements in security and the backing of a 24/7 SOC for a small team at Evolve IT being the reason why we went with the partnership with Huntress initially."
"The stability is perfect."

Cons

"One area for improvement is the user-friendliness of the UI. It is not intuitive to manage policies as I have to go through several pages to find necessary information."
"For improvements, focusing on the commercial viability of markets like India could make it more accessible. The pricing structure, especially for price-sensitive markets like those in Asian countries."
"We need more updates as there are always more threats coming."
"One area for improvement is the user-friendliness of the UI."
"They can improve their support a little bit. We've had some issues with some of the installations in terms of getting the installation, configuration, and flows correct, and sometimes, their support is not as simple and easy to deal with as we'd like."
"Integration capabilities are not as rich as other tools like CrowdStrike's. Bitdefender wasn't as feature-rich in that aspect."
"Bitdefender needs to probably position this product and create more awareness among people because a lot of companies use products like CrowdStrike, which is doing pretty well."
"Bitdefender MDR consumes too many resources during scanning which further affects developers' productivity."
"The Huntress is not a standalone solution. It really needs to be used with something else such as Microsoft Defender or another antivirus solution. It would be nice to see the product fleshed out by the Huntress team and include the antivirus solution part as well. I want it to be a full-fledged XDR product. It would push the tool to a higher price range but it would be nice to see the fleshed out features. I want them to integrate more features from the XDR realm."
"Their EDR can have increased coverage for Macintosh. They do not fully secure Macintosh computers."
"There should be more engagement with the MSP group or their largest clients. They should have focus group discussions on what they can do to improve the product."
"We are still getting many false positives."
"Using Huntress Managed EDR has not reduced our need for expensive security tools or hiring expensive security analysts, as we run redundancy and maintain all that in-house while Huntress serves as a partner, not a replacement."
"Customer support for Huntress Managed EDR could have been better. Although there is a dedicated representative, after the initial onboarding conversation, there was not much follow-up until renewal came up."
"Installing Huntress on a Mac presents a challenge for end users due to the operating system's security features, which require administrator privileges for installation."
"Regarding Huntress Managed EDR, they could add more features when compared to another EDR platform, SentinelOne."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"As far as pricing is concerned, I would rate them not expensive, not cheap."
"Bitdefender fit well for customers with about 50 to 200 users. The price point is great, and you get a lot of bang for your buck."
"It varies based on the number of licenses."
"I know it is based on the volume and size and also on different multi-year agreements. There are different discounts applied, but I can't really speak about the specifics."
"I would rate the tool's pricing a four out of ten."
"I rate the product's price a five or six on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive since it is a fairly priced product."
"I rate the product pricing six out of ten for the Malaysian market. However, I would rate it a three out of ten for the Australian, New Zealand, or Singapore markets."
"The solution is cheap compared to other alternatives. It offers good value for money. For the whole solution, it's up to about five pounds per device per month. Considering what it does, I think that's very good value."
"Huntress Managed EDR offers a fair pricing model."
"Regarding the pricing for Huntress Managed EDR, I was amazed when I heard the price; I thought it was going to be way more than what it is based on the quality."
"It is very fair. I started at $2.50 and now I am at $3.50. When I signed up, I thought it was too cheap. It now reflects the price. It is very fair. I do not think you can find anything better."
"Huntress has a favourable pricing structure, and I appreciate the cost-effectiveness compared to previous solutions."
"The Huntress pricing is an excellent value for what the product provides."
