Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

A way for users to manage their credentials on the go using a stable, and scalable app
I give the solution an eight out of ten. It's hard to comment on the number of users because the feature is completely for corporate employees who have Blackberry devices, so it's hard to track how many users there are. I advise making your decision to use the solution based on the usage in the company or the demand of the business, which you are running based on the demand.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I recognize that Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is one of the best products in its category regarding capabilities."
"It detected stuff that other things wouldn't detect."
"It has pretty much everything we need and works well within the Palo Alto ecosystem."
"It blocks malicious files, prevents attacks, and doesn't require many updates because it is a very light application."
"Cortex XDR is a very capable solution for protecting large networks and a lot of endpoints. It's very useful because the automation is very high, and if you combine it with the features on Palo Alto firewalls, it provides very strong protection."
"Traps is quite a stable product. Once it was properly deployed and configured, you have nothing to be worried about."
"It is an easy-to-use tool."
"Stability is a primary factor, and then there's the ease of distribution and policy management; Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is very easy to work with, and we're quite happy with them."
"The mail is without a doubt the most valuable."
"Their technical support is actually quite good."
"The resetting option and creating a password is a very useful on-the-go feature, which gives a user a good experience, obviously a hassle-free experience."
"The solution is very easy to set up."
"The setup is very easy and straightforward."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is the ease of deployment that it provides to users. The integrations that the product has with third-party applications are useful."
"On any given day I could give you a different answer regarding the most valuable features of the product. The feature that is most important is the fact that it has a lot of features, that it's not just a log collection and correlation system, that it has a lot of other components built in. The bundle of features is really the killer feature."
"It's a single solution that is meeting the needs of multiple of my PCI compliance objectives."
"AlienVault is my security person looking at irregularities and letting me know when something has occurred."
"As it includes a logger feature for gathering all logs from all devices (network devices, servers, hosts etc.) it has basically become the only software that we look at when we have a problem."
"Previous to this, we really didn't have any protection, any intrusion system in place, and it's made me more comfortable, since I'm in charge of IT for this company, because I sleep better at night."
"There are multiple tools for information security. The solution includes all the latest advances on the network and host intrusion detection systems."

Cons

"The GUI could be improved. It's a little bit cumbersome. It could be more user-friendly."
"If he is using a smaller company, he can depend on some other tools because Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is a bit expensive."
"The solution lacks real-time, on-demand antivirus."
"In terms of areas of improvement, we have not completed our review of the product. We're also looking at other products. So, it's a little bit hard to tell what could be different because we have not completed the review of this product, but based on our experience so far, its implementation is quite complex."
"Product might have some bugs."
"It is not very strong in terms of endpoint management. It should have additional features like DLP, encryption, or advanced device control. Currently, Cortex is good in terms of the security of the endpoints, but it is not as good as other vendors in terms of the management of the endpoint."
"Cortex does not offer an on-premises solution. However, some customers would prefer not to be on the cloud. It would be ideal if it could offer something on-prem as well."
"The deployment is pretty hard."
"The user interface could be improved. It was clunky at times."
"The solution can be improved by adding more features in which the content could be synced."
"I'd like to see built in support to detect more security incidents."
"More information about what the alerts mean and how they are derived would be useful when determining their significance."
"We have encountered stability issues; we have a high volume of logs passing through our SIEM and the default configuration couldn't handle all the data."
"User friendly interface could be an advantage. Sometimes we may face trouble when we were going through the settings of AlienVault SIEM."
"There could be some type of integration with our existing portal. We have our own customer portals, and it would be good if there was an integration so that our portal can provide reports. There could be some type of API into the AlienVault system with the USM system so that it is easy to show the customers high-level reports of the system through our portal."
"Reporting still needs a lot of work, especially on the vulnerability side."
"Although they use machine learning, the algorithms that they use are graph-based."
"Sometimes the log is unclear, and the report is a bit ambiguous."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It has a yearly renewal."
"Licensing for Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR can be costly, especially when it comes to a hundred users. A license is required for each user, and the subscription must be renewed on a yearly basis."
"The price of the product is not very economical."
"Every customer has to pay for a license because it doesn't work with what you get from a managed services provider."
"I don't like that they have different types of licenses."
"This is an expensive solution."
"Traps pays for itself within the first 16 months of a three-year subscription. This is attributed to OPEX savings, as security teams spent less time trying to identify and isolate malware for analysis as a result of a reduction in malware incidents, false positives, and breach avoidance."
"Our license will require renewal in August, after which the maintenance will continue as usual."
"I am not able to remember the amount, but users have to subscribe for a certain amount, so once they subscribe, the amount gets sent."
"We had a licensing package of $500,000 for three years."
"We pay around $12,000 a year including storage."
"Its price is much lower than McAfee ESM."
"It allows you to do a lot with a small price tag... The pricing is the best on the market."
"So far, I feel the product's pricing is a good value. The technology is decent. You get what you pay for. I think it's fair."
"The pricing is a good value. The key thing is that for the new product, the licensing of it, is subscription-based and it's based on data. Clients need to be really careful when thinking about that, because odds are they're going to need to put a lot more data into it than what they initially estimate, which is going to drive their subscription costs up."
"We checked out several competitors. For what it can do and the cost, it was the best option!"
"AlienVault is flexible on their pricing for unlimited licenses."
"They are a little more expensive than Microsoft."
