Comprehensive visibility has strengthened endpoint control and automated threat response across networks
When it comes to improving Forescout Platform, I have faced some issues recently, particularly with the switch integration part. When integrating a switch, it asks for the vendor type, and often it does not match. For example, one series of HP switches may not be found in that vendor list. This leads to frustration because you have to check again with different HP models, and once you integrate a switch, you cannot edit the vendor list without removing it. Other issues are being worked on, particularly related to switch integration. I believe they will be fixed in the next upgrade or patch fix. There are no major issues, but the configuration changes needed for the switch model are necessary, and I think it would help if during integration, an admin user could check the password or credential used, as they currently cannot see the password after it is entered and saved.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is flexible on the database and application side."
"The ROI is good because it supports the productivity of our employees and has helped increase staff productivity by two hours."
"The interface is easy to use."
"This solution can be used to organize guest portals, integrate switches, and create policies, and some of its standard use cases also include completing key process upgrades and anti-virus of Windows OS."
"We use it to prevent malicious activities on our network that potentially infiltrate it."
"The most valuable feature for us is the real-time alerting of newly connected devices, whether they are approved or unapproved devices on our network."
"Forescout Platform is stable, it is great."
"The most valuable features of ForeScout is the fact that it can do network access control either with 802.1x or without 802.1x."
"The platform enables automated policy enforcement, allowing us to simulate and test policies before enforcement, streamlining our security operations."
"The most valuable feature is the blocking of USB devices."

Cons

"Make the back-end installation simpler. I would like integration with other mobile solutions."
"Although Forescout manages endpoints and network devices, there is no capability for user management."
"The initial setup was complex."
"Search - needs boolean functionality (or pseudo operand now working)."
"It was not so easy to deploy in our environment, the learning curve for this solution is quite hard."
"It is quite expensive, but there are specs for small companies as well."
"The system controls could be better."
"In terms of technical support, their engineering team is very rigid."
"The integration with Sync can be improved. We would like to see better integration with some other popular vendors."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing costs are $5000 USD."
"Forescout Platform is too expensive, so the price should be reduced."
"The pricing structure should be enhanced."
"They base the license on the number of devices, which is quite misleading."
"The solution’s pricing is fine."
"Time savings in finding rogue devices as well as identifying potentially unwanted devices on the network has saved the organization time and money."
"The fact that we were allowed to spin up as many servers as we had need of to support our geographic requirements while paying for licensing as an enterprise truly set Forescout apart from the crowd and improved the way we could design our access."
"It's about $160,000, but I'm not sure how long that is for or what it includes. Because we were a test base, we were provided with servers, but now, Forescout wants us to buy servers because those servers are now end-of-life or end-of-service. For our lifecycle management program, in order to get a refresh on those servers, we would have to buy servers or use our own network resources to house Forescout. Forescout takes up about 13 or 14 virtual CPUs."
"We paid between $20,000 and $25,000 for a three-year license with maintenance."
