Comprehensive visibility has strengthened endpoint control and automated threat response across networks
When it comes to improving Forescout Platform, I have faced some issues recently, particularly with the switch integration part. When integrating a switch, it asks for the vendor type, and often it does not match. For example, one series of HP switches may not be found in that vendor list. This leads to frustration because you have to check again with different HP models, and once you integrate a switch, you cannot edit the vendor list without removing it. Other issues are being worked on, particularly related to switch integration. I believe they will be fixed in the next upgrade or patch fix. There are no major issues, but the configuration changes needed for the switch model are necessary, and I think it would help if during integration, an admin user could check the password or credential used, as they currently cannot see the password after it is entered and saved.

On the negative side, I believe their AI, which is IQ, could be more improved. For example, when I export any data, there are only 50 columns available. What if there were more columns? Nozomi Networks does not provide that data, so I have to go to the query section. The AI is currently useful for writing queries in English that are converted into their coding language for queries. Sometimes it provides the correct data, and sometimes it does not understand the request. From my attempts, I would say 50 percent of the time it has given me the proper data, and 50 percent of the time it might need improvement. Every day or week, new threat intelligence and AI upgrades are being released for Vantage, and all those upgrades are being implemented. Things are getting better, but I believe there are areas of improvement.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The visibility is the main benefit; we now know how many devices are connected, what the use for each device is, and what kind of devices we have in our environment."
"The network access control is a valuable feature for us, as it provides endpoint visibility of our network and controls who can access network resources, which is really powerful."
"Within three or four days, we have complete visibility of your infrastructure on the network. Compared to other solutions, the deployment of the solution is easier and we can close the project quickly."
"ForeScout provides some of the greatest visibility into network traffic, showing you exactly who is doing what, down to the port and protocol being used, capturing entire conversations between endpoints."
"This product provided a really good effect in terms of network access control."
"Customer service is above average and technical support is above average."
"The user management has been very easy for the most part."
"The initial setup is easy, taking no more than two or three weeks."
"Nozomi Networks is an easy-to-use and powerful tool."
"The most valuable features of Nozomi Networks are the visibility of OT protocols and the versatility in finding the details of the assets feeding the tool."
"Nozomi Networks has the best AI-based detection and intrusion detection solution, as it is very robust, easy to deploy, and easy to use with a very user-friendly GUI and good support in terms of product and after-sales support."
"I believe it is the best."
"I chose Nozomi because it is far ahead of other competitors, like Curator and Elastic."
"It brings visibility into the OT environment because most of the enterprises only have methods to check their IT environment."
"The network visualization feature of Nozomi impacts security operations positively."
"This is a good product and I definitely recommend it."

Cons

"Definitely, having more third-party integration would be an improvement."
"The fact that Forescout Platform doesn't have a presence in the South African region is a weakness because of which you can't ask for help from them if you have any problems."
"Multitenancy should be included in the next version so it could be used as a managed service provider."
"In terms of technical support, their engineering team is very rigid."
"We experienced some detection issues when checking compliance for the Sophos agent."
"Initially, the implementation of the Forescout Platform took some time to figure out."
"The technical support could be improved in terms of response time and first-level support quality."
"The solution does have a bit of complexity, and there's some complexity in the deployment. Users need to be trained before undertaking an initial setup."
"I see challenges with Nozomi Networks mainly as a detection or visibility tool, but it does not actively block traffic by design for safety reasons."
"I would like more customizable options for configurations."
"I believe there is room for improvement regarding on-premises AI."
"Nozomi Networks currently offers add-ons, such as ARP agents, that can be installed on machines to expand the information we receive from sensors. However, these are part of a licensing structure, which can be costly."
"Regarding the functionality of Nozomi Networks, the query syntax is very complicated. The syntax of the queries is very complex, so sometimes you will not get what you want."
"It should support more programmable logic controllers (PLCs)."
"Proof of concept could be improved. It could be more tangible to the customer and the end users to have a video presentation or something like that."
"Nozomi Networks should improve its pricing."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There are no additional costs that I am aware of."
"The fact that we were allowed to spin up as many servers as we had need of to support our geographic requirements while paying for licensing as an enterprise truly set Forescout apart from the crowd and improved the way we could design our access."
"The solution is not priced low. There are no hidden costs."
"It is expensive because you have to pay for their CSM, the customer's access manager, and their professional services on top of that, and they charge you roughly $400 per hour, which is overhead."
"You can have a flexible license depending on your environment."
"It's about $160,000, but I'm not sure how long that is for or what it includes. Because we were a test base, we were provided with servers, but now, Forescout wants us to buy servers because those servers are now end-of-life or end-of-service. For our lifecycle management program, in order to get a refresh on those servers, we would have to buy servers or use our own network resources to house Forescout. Forescout takes up about 13 or 14 virtual CPUs."
"We need to pay for integration for each integration that we want to do and there is an additional license fee. This adds more costs. It is not something that anyone can afford. If you want to integrate this with a lot of other tools, it can be costly."
"Forescout Platform is on the expensive side."
"I have not seen any competition in terms of pricing, and it is quite reasonable."
"The solution's pricing is good and cheaper than that of Claroty."
