Broad perspective on strategic management exists but integration challenges hinder efficiency
The product execution part, such as planning and executing, is done through Atlassian tools, specifically Jira. We wanted to upgrade our ability to understand how all these products and teams are working against strategic goals, tracking expenses and time, but the integration between Broadcom Clarity and Atlassian Jira is very cumbersome and not straightforward. Their integration, even with ConnectALL, is just adequate, but it's never going to be great because they are actively trying to sell Rally. To make Broadcom Clarity a perfect product, I think with Jira, nothing can be done. To be fair, I don't know exactly how Rally integration works as I've only read about it, but I know that in marketing papers, it seems amazing with full-on integration, whereas with Jira, it just doesn't work that effectively.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The valuable feature is the portfolio management, which includes project management and status reporting, managing the projects and programs at a portfolio level."
"Project Management features that are excellent in managing the Project Management Life-cycle, along with other related details like Financials, Resources and flexibility to customize, as per requirement."
"Having information all together in one single source."
"As a Project and Portfolio management tool, it allows the company to allocate costs based on projects, goals, or strategies, and you can break down costs a lot easier because of the amount of detail you can put into the project."
"The Project Portfolio Management software helped get all of your projects, all of our project costs, and all of our people working on those projects gathered together in one single place so we know what we're working on, and where we're spending our money."
"The interfaces for project management, portfolio management, and reporting services are always helpful."
"You can find the statistics of the products, share reports, and open boxes. Additionally, its ease of use helps with project management."
"For resource management, it's a very strong tool, has all the features that you would desire in a resource management tool, so we're very happy with that."
"The primary uses for this tool are task delegation, generating reports, and on-time invoices."
"It increased productivity and timely delivery of projects within a set budget."
"Real-time collaboration, invoice generation, task delegation, and file management features have become valuable features for our organization."

Cons

"One of the major pain points for me when it comes to Broadcom Clarity PPM is the new UI."
"A huge pain-point is the Jaspersoft reporting. Jaspersoft is extremely cumbersome and our end users dislike it, and are frustrated when using the criteria filter because many times the results returned do not match the results in the main system when using the inbuilt searches."
"There are some challenges that we are facing in terms of Jaspersoft software."
"The product doesn't have a way to simulate different kinds of plans. When you have a new plan with a high priority, there isn't a way to simulate the impact of the new plan."
"We want to get to know the CR functionality. We want to get a better picture of how to incorporate CR into our regular functionality."
"They need something so that if we, say, send some sheets to users, or for the scenario where not everybody has access to Clarity, but are part of planning; those people should be able to upload data directly to Clarity."
"Make transitions easier to implement, e.g. if a new portfolio comes along, it should be easy to integrate to the existing portfolios."
"Many of our clients were not using some of these features, because of complexity and less customization facility, and I would like to see OOTB portlets on this product."
"The timely reminders could be reduced from one mail a day to three mails in a week. This tends to fill up our inboxes a lot."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is hard for them to say, "I have a person on my team who is going to be available, I am going to move that task to them". That requires a project management license, it doesn't require a team member license, so the licensing model does not sometimes support the way the business world is going."
"The subscription is not that expensive."
"Cost-wise, the tool is very expensive and some tools might be able to cater to 80% of the functionality provided by Broadcom Clarity PPM but are not as expensive."
"It is a little bit costly compared to others, but it is mature. Customer should understand this product is geared towards project management, not financial management."
"The price point of Broadcom Clarity PPM is less than Planisware. If a customer comes to me, and the cost is the main parameter for the selection of a tool, then I'll recommend Broadcom because cost-wise, they are less than other solutions."
"We're also moving to the latest version for less than $20,000 for a major corporate system. It's just amazing."
"The licensing costs are a little bit high, and unfortunately, it has been a while since I've had that paperwork in front of me. I don't remember how much it was, but it seemed like it was fairly high. It is probably comparable to some of the other solutions because I do know that, for example, on a lot of the AWS stuff, they found that the costs wound up being higher than having some on-prem solution. Comparatively, Clarity is within the price range of other solutions."
"Broadcom Clarity PPM costs us $500K, and that's only for the installation and kick off within the first year. For each succeeding year, it could cost $200K."
