The reports are fantastic and it's easy to use and update
The technical support is bad, primarily because I don't see anybody using it. I once had to rebuild the whole database when it died. I had to put in a new database and upgrade my system and do everything. Then it broke my database and they could not fix it. Now we work around it and it works fine.

Reliable for enterprise monitoring but no longer actively developed
There are problems with the latest security requirements because many things have changed in recent years, and now the security audits are very strict. And we need to switch to something else. We need to patch it constantly. Moreover, it is a very old tool and a little bit difficult to support. Otherwise, they work okay.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of this solution is the fact that it sends me canned reports. It's easy to use and easy to update."
"Stability is very good."
"My advice to others would be that, if they'd manage to sort out the indexing problem, it's a wonderful product to use."
"This enables us to run monthly capacity planning reports to have an overall view of the status of our network."
"I'm particularly impressed with the stability, which is like a rock, and the fact that it has so much data on such a stable platform."
"The tool had many built-in automation capabilities."
"The solution is very fast, there's no lag or delay between the IBM solution and the other solutions like Huawei and Nokia."
"NetCool has a huge database that can collect and process about one million alarms a day."
"The solution has very good integration capabilities."
"The tool is much easier to manage than running scripts and figuring out how many endpoints have been exceeded."
"The solution is a complete package; it has various useful elements including inventory management and incident management packaged inside it, and anything is possible with Tivoli since it is quite a robust system that offers a lot of useful integration capabilities."
"The scalability of monitoring, the breadth of supported network components, the scale of the number of monitoring events, and the flexibility in customization make this a well-rounded product."
"Tivoli NetCool allows us to grasp a lot of data that can be applied toward predictive analytics and auto-remediation."

Cons

"Overall performance of the application is slow."
"I would mainly like to see an overall view of the application and the infrastructure."
"I would like to see improved index shifting."
"The technical support is bad, primarily because I don't see anybody using it."
"It has limited reporting with only a few canned out-of-the-box reports."
"Customization and integration that you need to do to make the product fit your needs is very complex. It is not a product that somebody could easily pick up without any prior training or experience."
"This is another one of those suites glued together from a myriad of acquisitions and it shows once you get under the hood."
"The installation could be simplified, and technical support could be faster."
"The solution does not have any AI capabilities."
"I think the UI should be updated and made more presentable and eye-catching. Compared to NCE in Huawei, NSN in Nokia, the UiPath and Ubiquiti, it feels very old legacy."
"The solution is too expensive."
"The product is pretty costly. It's definitely not the least expensive option."
"The solution is not user-friendly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is an expensive program."
"Customers are required to pay a licensing fee."
"It costs around 100k for every ten servers, which is lower than similar products from other vendors."
"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
"The price of the product is too expensive."
