Simplified threat detection and reduced policy deployment time
The standout features of Check Point Security Management are unified policy management, real-time visibility, and automation capabilities, making it a powerful tool for security management. Consistency across environments with Check Point Security Management helps me ensure that instead of maintaining separate rules for firewalls, cloud workloads, and data centers, we apply one unified policy that covers them all. This reduces misconfigurations and ensures compliance, proving to be a time-saver because rolling out a new rule or updating an existing one takes minutes, not hours, because it is propagated everywhere automatically. Automation is one of the most valuable aspects of Check Point Security Management, and it often does not get enough attention compared to headline features like unified policies or visibility. With policy automation, routine tasks such as rule creation, compliance checks, or policy updates can be automated, reducing human error and saving hours of manual work. Check Point Security Management has simplified administration in my organization because instead of juggling multiple consoles, everything is managed from a single pane of glass. This has reduced complexity and saved significant time for our IT team, improving our operational efficiency. For a policy update, I used to spend two or three hours across multiple consoles. Now, with unified management in Check Point Security Management, it takes thirty to forty minutes, resulting in about a seventy percent reduction in effort, greatly boosting productivity.

We use the product to search for IoCs. It is a good tool, but we do not use all its capabilities. We have only done a POC of the product. The real-time threat intelligence features are useful. The tool has good capabilities. It has a database of IoCs The solution is limited. I have been using…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Check Point Security Management has improved the way to manage several VPN communities depending on the needs, giving us the ability to centralize the management and administration of about 300 Check Point firewalls all over the world."
"Check Point Security Management Server offers a wide range of security features, including firewall, intrusion prevention, VPN, application control, and threat prevention capabilities."
"Throughout my professional career I have operated, implemented, and designed solutions with Checkpoint's NGFW for clients of all kinds - public and private, small and large."
"Check Point's management portal and firmware are very stable and don't require frequent maintenance. Their IPSec tunneling is very stable, especially with Azure and AWS networks."
"Check Point Security Management has positively impacted my organization by saving a lot of time because we have a lot of firewalls, and it provides a console where I can see directly all the managed firewalls, allowing us to manage all of our firewalls from just one point."
"The tool is cost-effective."
"I love the URL filtering as well as the identification capabilities which link with the Active Directory and work for me even with bandwidth regulation. These allow me to select to whom to do what, and when."
"Check Point Security Management is one-stop for all operation-related activity on the Check Point Security Gateway (firewalls)."
"The solution improved our overall security posture."
"The real-time threat intelligence features are useful."

Cons

"SD-WAN functionality could be added."
"Even though the platform is simple, and creating security policies is a fairly quick task, creating a bulk of policies at once (ie. for a migration) could be a useful tool. This is probably possible through scripting, however, having an easy-to-use "import CSV" button would be beneficial."
"While SmartConsole is powerful, it can feel cluttered at times. A cleaner layout or customizable dashboard would help users focus on what matters most."
"Check Point Security Management has experienced some reliability issues, but it depends on VM, appliance, and any other implementation."
"At least once a day, the application crashes with some random error message. Then you have to close it out and open it up again."
"Check Point Security Management can be improved; the recent R82 version is AI-enabled with increased security but I have encountered issues during upgrades, requiring backups to prevent potential disasters."
"The interface can be overwhelming for new users, and simplifying rule creation, offering guided workflows or templates will reduce onboarding time."
"I would like it to be the administrator of equipment or Next Generation firewalls (which have to be managed on this platform) and to be able to manage other services (like Harmony) that also belong to Check Point."
"More insights would be helpful. We have multiple solutions for threat intelligence. If someone has a bigger view or full eye on all the incidents, it will be beneficial."
"The solution is limited."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This product can be used for 25 security gateways on a basic license."
"The pricing can be estimated around 3 or 4 out of 10 in terms of expense."
"If one will be very expensive, and ten means low price, I rate the tool's price as a three out of ten."
"Price-wise, it is an expensive solution."
"The solution is expensive."
"Check Point is much cheaper than the competition ($4/server as compared to $17/server)."
"Do the homework because Check Point is rather expensive."
"The solution is expensive and there is an annual license."
