Reliable support boosts confidence while initial setup complexities highlight improvement areas
Challenges I've encountered mostly involve the RMA part for hardware replacement, which doesn't happen regularly, but sometimes I face challenges due to limited parts in India; they offer different model devices as a stopgap arrangement. It's quite difficult to specify features I would want to see in future updates because that varies from model to model. I would definitely recommend Cisco Catalyst Switches to other users. We do maintenance for Cisco Catalyst Switches. For maintenance, we usually need three people from different regions working as a single team; our engineers handle both projects and maintenance, so there isn't a specific engineer just for maintenance. I work with firewalls and next-generation firewalls. Overall, I would rate the solution as an eight out of ten.

Router configuration facilitates effective network solutions
The configurations and CLI of the Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms are valuable features. While I did not appreciate them initially, I have grown to value them. The stability of the router is reliable, and they perform according to our requirements. We are using firewall systems and all other security mechanisms which are state-of-the-art with the Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms. The main benefit of the Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms is their stability.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One good feature is UPOE. Another is having a built-in controller, the customer doesn't have to ask for another controller. For example, you get a built-in controller with the C650. And two-port is one of the premium factors from Cisco."
"Catalyst switches are highly reliable. They have a good product life, they are balanced overall compared to others."
"In terms of technology, Cisco is the leader in everything."
"We have dealt with Cisco's technical support in the past. They were especially helpful and very polite. They are always there if we need them and their insights are always excellent. I would say that we have been satisfied with the level of support we've gotten so far."
"Catalyst switches are easy to use and simple to work with."
"The operating system is great."
"Cisco has a really good option, a one-dashboard option for maintaining and surveilling your entire network."
"Technical support is very responsive and helpful."
"The product is highly scalable."
"This solution is easy to manage and the resiliency of the hardware is excellent."
"We haven't faced any issues with the tool's integration."
"The main benefit of the Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms is their stability."
"The most valuable feature of Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms is its robustness."
"It's a stable product."
"I recommend Juniper because it is a code router that is easy to configure and manage."
"The most valuable Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platform is its ability to do routing in any way that I need. It's more than capable of handling the load I'm currently sending."

Cons

"The price is high and it should be improved."
"Installing and configuring these switches requires the proper training."
"It should have better security and the prices can always be lower."
"The stability must be improved."
"Cisco is dedicated to providing their customers with the latest technology, but it comes with a price. It's expensive when compared to competitors' products."
"When you compare it with HPE and Aruba, it should be fancier."
"The prices are high. It's more expensive than other similar options."
"The product must provide a better central tool for management."
"Although the support for this solution is good, there is still room for improvement."
"Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms should incorporate gen AI features."
"The main disadvantage is the price when compared to MikroTik, which is much cheaper but less stable."
"The product licensing process needs improvement."
"Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms could improve by having a graphical interface. A lot of the younger generation tend to be used to graphical interfaces, command line tends to scare them."
"Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms should improve by being more agile with new technology that sits on top of the router."
"I want support to improve in terms of quality."
"It needs to be more multifunctional for enterprises."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost of this solution could be less expensive, and we are on an annual license."
"The price of these switches is on the upper end. It is around $3,500 plus for a 24-Port switch. These switches are more expensive than Linksys and TP-Links, but you get what you pay for. If you look at the pros and cons per switch, you can justify the cost compared to a lesser and cheaper brand."
"The licensing, and maintenance fees are paid on a yearly basis."
"The price of this solution is reasonable."
"I would rate the features-to-pricing ratio at six out of 10. My advice about licensing is that you should have a perpetual license, not one that is subscription-based."
"It is reasonably priced because we have already conducted a tender, allowing Cisco and other vendors to compete for the best price."
"The price could always be lower."
"I would say that the pricing of the solution falls within the moderate to higher range."
"The price of Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms is reasonable. We are on a perpetual license. I do not have any maintenance service as part of the license."
"The tool's pricing is in the middle."
