Ensures efficient performance and supports network growth with optimal speed
Catalyst Switches are efficient and swift, which is valuable for my organization. I experience optimal speed and effective configuration, making them stand out compared to other switches. The PoE switches offer more ports on SFP, and it is efficient in use. Overall, the switches provide me with the value I expect in terms of speed and efficiency.

Rock-solid connectivity and WiFi coverage
It's a hardwired solution so our customers do not have to use a mesh network — I really dislike that. It causes too much delay, etc. As with any product, there is always room for improvement. A good router is not cheap. A good switch is not cheap. Let's say somebody develops a new frequency — 7GHz. Well, in that case, you'd need a special router. I have some customers who request Cat7 for their homes. That's way too much. So I'd say, "What are you going to run over here? Let's just run fiber optics. Then the customer will respond, "Well, I read somewhere and other people have told me that if you're going to wire your house, go with Cat7." I'd say, "Sir, you're not going to even utilize Cat5e." I use Cat5e, and believe it or not, I can pump at 10 gigabits per second with Cat5e. The same was true with ePoE — now we have ePoE+. Some switches with ePoE cannot supply as much juice as the modern ePoE+, which requires much more power. The basic switch doesn't have the capacity to deal with that. The documentation could be improved; it's quite basic. It pretty much just covers some basic IP information, defense, and how to change the administrator password — that's pretty much it. I am a dealer, I shouldn't have to contact support for basic answers.

"The most valuable feature is the interface, it's easy to configure. The command line uses a switch that gives us security."
"It has become easier for us to troubleshoot and find issues faster in the management software for the switches. It saves us troubleshooting time because if the network is down it has a big impact on production."
"Catalyst Switches are easy to install."
"Catalyst switches are highly stable and easy to use. It's a technology well known by most engineers."
"We decreased budgets on the support corporate network and increased user satisfaction."
"As far as technology is concerned, Cisco improves the client-to-client business."

Cons

"They need to implement sFlow."
"Cisco is a bit complex."
"With most of the Cisco devices and models, we faced a slight decrease in speed during the initial setup and while restarting the system"
"We have configurations for port channels between two facilities, and we cannot communicate between these two buildings. An SFP configuration uses one wire to send and receive the signal. It's opt-in. We cannot use it after the upgrade. What can we do in this situation? We already bought it."
"Installing and configuring these switches requires the proper training."
"Their centralized management could be better. There should be some kind of software for centralized management so that I don't need somebody else to manage it."
"The biggest issue we are having is with bugs and memory loss, which occurs when developing the IOS."
"Cisco is the most expensive product."
"You do need to be an IT person in order to handle the initial setup. An AV person would struggle a bit."
"The documentation could be improved; it's quite basic."
"Documentation and access to it could be greatly improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The prices of Cisco devices are too high."
"When compared with other products, the solution is kind of on the expensive side."
"The price should go down instead of up. "
"The price is on the higher side."
"We love Cisco, but the price is very prohibitive."
"There needs to be some improvement with the Cisco DNA licensing activation process, it is difficult at the moment."
"Cisco switches are expensive. Their price range is based not only on what the product does but also the name in the industry. They are good at what they do. If you need a better product, there are other lineups available."
"Try to buy everything you need in bulk purchases and ask Cisco for volume discounts."
"The price completely depends on the environment. There are no additional fees."
