Manageable, provides excellent support, and easily integrates with other products
One central area for improvement in Cisco is its product line offering. Cisco has ISE and other products, such as DNS Center and other components. Instead of small to medium-sized customers purchasing devices and maintaining the devices, it would be great if customers could have subscriptions. A CAPEX/OPEX model instead of that Cisco code, where the pricing model is subscription-based, would give much better flexibility for the customers. The pricing and model for Cisco Cloud Services Router and other Cisco products could be improved. One good example of what I want to be added to the Cisco Cloud Services Router in its next version is for it to be more of a plug-and-play product. For example, Juniper has developed QR codes, so if you need to plug in a device, you scan from your phone and connect to the internet. That's it. You can provision the device remotely through the cloud orchestrator, so I want to see a similar function or feature in Cisco Cloud Services Router.

Reliable border connectivity with responsive support but there's room for more intuitive documentation
The documentation is somewhat lacking and not easy to navigate. There are some errors and misleading information. The general appearance of the company site is also not user-friendly for downloading firmware. Firmware updates should be more straightforward. More security features would be appreciated, however, they should be easy to understand and implement.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of the Cisco Cloud Services Router is it can make your migrations smooth. For example, if you want to migrate to the cloud, but you don't want to change the IP. You can extend your VLAN from on-premise to the cloud without having to change the IP."
"In summary, this is a good product and I recommend it."
"Overall, it works really well and does not have any large bugs or issues with it."
"This solution is scalable."
"We have been very happy with its capabilities over the many years we have used the product."
"It allowed us to create a more secure VPN than we would have been able to do without it."
"The deployment was pretty quick, so the AWS Marketplace options are very helpful."
"It is definitely scalable. It can handle a lot more traffic and group work compared to any other products that I've evaluated. It could easily scale a lot more than what I'm doing right now."
"The most valuable features for us are NAT, ATS, server capabilities, VPN tunneling, and management."
"My recommendation is that you use Huawei Routers; they are good, and they don't have any problems."
"We've had a good experience with Huawei Routers."
"The scalability is good."
"The best feature about Huawei is the cost, particularly when you compare it to Cisco which has a much more expensive licensing model."
"It's simple to use and offers good connectivity."
"The routers have mainstream features that fulfill our needs."
"The solution's reliability and uptime are good and have impacted our business operations."

Cons

"You can use this router in a scalable solution but it has its limitations."
"The initial setup is easy for one device but is more complex when numerous devices need to be configured."
"There should be a system in place to help existing users make an easier transition to the newer interfaces."
"If you lose connectivity to the cloud, it is difficult to establish connectivity between the hub and spoke."
"It is too complex. It is not easy to set up, even with the documentation that they provided. It is a little confusing."
"I would like the ability to moderate between devices on-premise to off-premise. This would be a vast improvement."
"Technical support could be better. I am missing a single pane of glass, where I can see all the connections, etc."
"This solution is kind of expensive."
"In the next release of this solution, I would like to see better bandwidth management, more granular web filtering, and portal authentication."
"They should include features like IPS for security and response."
"The stability ended up not being what we hoped, therefore, we reverted back to Cisco routers, which are much more stable."
"We'd like the product to be more flexible so that we could more easily manipulate some of the features."
"The only problem I see is configuration loss."
"We have found we have to restart the routers or reconfigured them a lot of the time, this issue should improve. The quality of the hardware needs to be more durable."
"The internet service for enterprise bundle should be improved."
"The solution's technical support could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is good for what it offers."
"Purchasing it through the AWS Marketplace was very simple. We went through the AWS Marketplace because it was the easiest way to get the product up and running very quickly."
"Purchasing the product on the AWS Marketplace was very simplistic. Our organization was trying to centralize our billing costs, and simplicity was best."
"Cisco Cloud Services Router is an expensive product. My company pays for the product yearly, and the price reaches roughly $800,000. Though Cisco Cloud Services Router is expensive and its competitors offer better pricing, when it comes to support, it's unbeatable."
"We would prefer to go through the vendor instead of AWS, as we have a relationship with the vendor and can get discounts directly from them. Going through the vendor, it is much cheaper for us. Though, we would still keep it hosted on AWS."
"The cost needs improvement. It is very expensive through the AWS Marketplace."
"You do need to pay a licensing fee to use the solution. You can do a yearly or three-year subscription. The product itself is quite expensive. It would be ideal if they offered the product at a cheaper price."
"Purchasing through the AWS Marketplace was easy; click a button and you have it."
"There are additional licensing costs. I am aware of additional licenses and which services are added to the router."
"The product is inexpensive, but there is an extra cost for replacement of the device."
"Huawei Enterprise Routers’s cost is average. I rate its pricing a five out of ten."
"The solution is cheap compared to Cisco."
"The product is expensive."
"The price of the solution is fair."
"These routers are not too expensive."
"The price is reasonable compared to Cisco's."
