Manageable, provides excellent support, and easily integrates with other products
One central area for improvement in Cisco is its product line offering. Cisco has ISE and other products, such as DNS Center and other components. Instead of small to medium-sized customers purchasing devices and maintaining the devices, it would be great if customers could have subscriptions. A CAPEX/OPEX model instead of that Cisco code, where the pricing model is subscription-based, would give much better flexibility for the customers. The pricing and model for Cisco Cloud Services Router and other Cisco products could be improved. One good example of what I want to be added to the Cisco Cloud Services Router in its next version is for it to be more of a plug-and-play product. For example, Juniper has developed QR codes, so if you need to plug in a device, you scan from your phone and connect to the internet. That's it. You can provision the device remotely through the cloud orchestrator, so I want to see a similar function or feature in Cisco Cloud Services Router.

Reliable border connectivity with responsive support but there's room for more intuitive documentation
The documentation is somewhat lacking and not easy to navigate. There are some errors and misleading information. The general appearance of the company site is also not user-friendly for downloading firmware. Firmware updates should be more straightforward. More security features would be appreciated, however, they should be easy to understand and implement.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Overall, it is a solid product and a good router."
"It integrates well with the other products we're using. We have it with multiple windows like Palo Alto, Arista and it easily integrated with them."
"The most valuable feature of the Cisco Cloud Services Router is it can make your migrations smooth. For example, if you want to migrate to the cloud, but you don't want to change the IP. You can extend your VLAN from on-premise to the cloud without having to change the IP."
"It allowed us to create a more secure VPN than we would have been able to do without it."
"It is definitely scalable. It can handle a lot more traffic and group work compared to any other products that I've evaluated. It could easily scale a lot more than what I'm doing right now."
"This solution is scalable."
"Cisco's technical support is pretty good - they have a professional support center to handle any problems and will send out an expert to help you resolve any issues."
"The most valuable feature is the SNMP traps that I use to monitor the router and the availability of the network."
"The setup is simple."
"When we started, the connection was amazing for the 100G between the switches and the co-switch."
"The scalability is good."
"The most valuable features for us are NAT, ATS, server capabilities, VPN tunneling, and management."
"It's simple to use and offers good connectivity."
"The solution offers good customer support, ease of deployment, and good performance."
"I have been able to connect the solution to many platforms such as Windows, Apple, and Android."
"The solution provides support for 5G connectivity."

Cons

"The configuration is difficult."
"The ease of use within the AWS environment needs to improve. Sometimes, it is very esoteric in how you use it. Therefore, you have to learn to use it, then you are able to."
"It does the job, but it's not cloud native. It could be even better, like having a single pane of glass and being less expensive."
"Cisco Cloud Services Router could improve by having more features. It is lacking features, such as virtualization and containerization. Additionally, there should be increased security and connectivity between routers."
"It could grow or adapt to changes in the cloud. For example, cloud does not support autoscaling. When people want to grow, they have to do manual activities."
"If you lose connectivity to the cloud, it is difficult to establish connectivity between the hub and spoke."
"I would like to see better security, where there are more access controls and data confidentiality."
"Technical support could be better. I am missing a single pane of glass, where I can see all the connections, etc."
"If Huawei can use its own OEM processor, it could be a good step up for future use in the network devices."
"The product's pricing could be better."
"In the next release of this solution, I would like to see better bandwidth management, more granular web filtering, and portal authentication."
"We have encountered issues while integrating the product with Enterprise Management Systems. Huawei platform is good for Huawei but we face issues when we integrate it with other models."
"We'd like the product to be more flexible so that we could more easily manipulate some of the features."
"The solution's technical support could be improved."
"Huawei Enterprise Routers can improve by enhancing their security. The software architecture and the operating system that runs on their router and the security capability are not as strong when compared to Cisco."
"The internet service for enterprise bundle should be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost needs improvement. It is very expensive through the AWS Marketplace."
"We never buy the product on the AWS Marketplace. We only download it. We always use BYOL. We never buy the license in the AWS Marketplace, because it's very expensive."
"This solution is kind of expensive."
"We would prefer to go through the vendor instead of AWS, as we have a relationship with the vendor and can get discounts directly from them. Going through the vendor, it is much cheaper for us. Though, we would still keep it hosted on AWS."
"The should make the Dynamic Multipoint VPN solution more affordable."
"Cost is a big factor. We would like to see the price reduced."
