The log capacity in Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) could be enhanced because today natively on the ISE can only have a look at the logs from the day before. You cannot search into the oldest logs; you have to use another tool for that. This can be blocking if you don't have any log consolidation solution. To do a search for an issue or something that happened two days ago, you cannot search directly in there. The capacity of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) could be enhanced. Something between one week and one month for the log capacity would be nice.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best feature of the Cisco ISE platform is that it is compatible with Microsoft products."
"Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) is very stable."
"Technical support as always is one of the best."
"It has allowed us to pull in multiple authentication databases, then centralize them into a captive portal system."
"Our clients like Cisco ISE because they already use various Cisco solutions. It's easy for them to use this solution because they have an engineer with Cisco certifications."
"Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine) is the best solution for Cisco network customers."
"The way we can trust this solution is the most valuable, we have no issue with this product, it is a competitive product, you need to have a very good and deep knowledge of the product to take the full benefits of all the features, but it is a good product."
"The most valuable feature is the flexibility of the policy sets."
"Ivanti NAC's most valuable feature is reasonable pricing."
"Integration with other vendors is possible."
"The profiler option allows me to see every detail in a systematic manner from a switch. I can choose the switch and I can see the port NAC address and time."
"Integration with other vendors is possible."

Cons

"Because it's a Cisco product, if you're not in a Cisco environment, it's difficult to integrate with anything else, so the big concern is its interoperability with other technologies and other vendors."
"There are always some things that I would request."
"There is much room for improvement, especially after having perused the documentation on the solution's website. The solution lacks properly knowledgeable support, especially internationally, and this is why I am exploring other applications."
"I'm working from China currently and the only real issue is that, within the country, there's some concern around Cisco and its ability to offer the solution for the long term. As the United States has banned the Huawei version in their country, we feel there may be retaliation in ours and Cisco will get banned as a countermeasure from the government. The future of Cisco in China is in question. Our local partners are worried about the situation."
"The UI is not as intuitive as some other products, even products inside of Cisco's wheelhouse."
"The user interface can be improved."
"The templates could be better. When you have to do certs, especially with X.500 certs, it isn't very intuitive."
"Sometimes we face some infrastructure where there are multiple vendors and sometimes the ISE is not the best tool to manage multiple vendor infrastructure."
"The documentation needs to be improved. There are a lot of details that are missed which makes it confusing."
"The documentation needs to be improved. There are a lot of details that are missed which makes it confusing."
"The product's performance needs improvement."
"At some point, the server got cached and we faced several issues that impacted our customers. We would like to have this resolved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is fair."
"The Essentials licensing is reasonable, but I would like the Premier version to be perpetual instead of a subscription."
"Cisco has actually transitioned to a lot of subscription models, fees, and licenses."
"The pricing is fair for what it does."
"Pricing and licensing are not my expertise. As far as budgeting is concerned, we run an ELA with Cisco. It's a part of our ELA."
"Over the years, licensing has been confusing and complicated because there are so many different licenses for each different product and each different iteration of the product."
"I believe I have paid around $1,000 in licensing fees. The license is annual."
"That's where things got a bit more complicated. Previously, it was a one-time purchase and we just had to renew support. These days, there's a subscription model, which is supposed to be easier and cheaper as well, but it's more pricey"
"The product is cost-effective."
