Enhanced broadcast management with trusted support and intuitive interfaces
Cisco is the best on the Metro Solution side and also strong in the broadcast sector. Cisco and Arista support the IP standard, which is more in demand nowadays for TV broadcasting. Cisco is trusted by most broadcast customers for data centers due to their experience and knowledge. Cisco Linksys switches offer ease of management and experience, especially for engineers holding CCNA certificates. The functionalities and measurements are similar across switches, but Cisco offers a useful web interface.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product offers a very professional experience."
"The installation is straightforward. We did not face any problems."
"The stability of the program is excellent."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the support."
"This product is fine and works well in the background."
"Cisco's product is excellent and highly stable with decades of experience in switching and technology. It's a top-notch solution when your entire network operates within the Cisco ecosystem, allowing for a wide range of capabilities. However, the challenge with Cisco lies in its prioritization. When integrating with third-party solutions, like Juniper, it can be somewhat challenging, but it still performs reasonably well. Setting up Cisco switches is not a straightforward process; it's complex and requires more than simply powering them on and figuring things out as you go. You need a solid understanding of switch and stack configuration because Cisco has its unique software features. Cisco excels in vendor lock-in, meaning that if you want to combine Cisco switches with non-Cisco functionality, it can be both time-consuming and costly. While Cisco offers the most extensive capabilities, it can also be less flexible and more challenging when you want to deviate from the Cisco ecosystem."
"Their speed and their ability to handle the network well are the most significant aspects of the product."
"Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches is a stable solution."
"The simplicity of the commands is most valuable. The commands are the same for several devices."
"We found the installation process to be simple."
"The most valuable feature is the IRF."
"The HPE Ethernet switches have very low latency."
"HPE Ethernet Switches offer a good return on investment. They offer a lifetime warranty, which is good. Cisco SMB level only declares a one-year warranty, and for the enterprise level, you need to get a service pack, which costs extra."
"I like that these switches are reliable, and the support is good."
"It's fairly lightweight, they don't require a lot of maintenance."
"I like that HPE's management functions are GUI-based, so it doesn't rely on command lines."

Cons

"Linksys switches are expensive but scalable."
"Their performance should be improved."
"Cisco offers a wide range of features, and in the enterprise and mid-segment market in Europe, we make use of most of them. Some features are essential for our operations, while others may go unused. The feature set provided by Cisco is comprehensive, and there's little more we could ask for. It would be a nice addition if, in the future, Cisco switches could incorporate artificial intelligence to provide proactive feedback and guidance instead of having to search for solutions ourselves. This development is likely to come with time, and we'll patiently await such enhanced functionality."
"Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches are stable but could be better."
"The drawbacks come from support. The tools are rare, but to find someone knowledgeable with Cisco, is a problem."
"We haven't had any issues with the solution."
"The licensing could be simplified."
"The solution's framework and some of the techniques need improvement. I've been watching Aruba, and they have a lot of technologies within the access points. For example, it has a virtual controller to connect all Aruba switches."
"It's gone up in price in the last 12 months."
"The cost could be better. HPE has to study it carefully with other vendors in the market, like Cisco or Juniper."
"We haven't had any issues with this switch in the past 10 years. That's the reason we're still keeping them alive."
"We have some problems with the performance of our HPE Ethernet Switches because they are old."
"The solution could be more stable."
"The only improvement I can think of is that it could be better with less updates."
"The ability to stack, as well as a unified operating system, would be extremely beneficial."
"If there is any fluctuation in power then we will face an outage with our POE switches, so this is something that should be improved."

"There is no license required."
"There is not a license to use the solution but we have a license for support."
"They are cheaper than Cisco Catalyst Switches."
"The tool's pricing is very cheap."
"HPE costs almost the same as Cisco."
