A simple interface and helpful support for a solution that grows with us
It's a flexible enough tool to submit the changes that you want. It gives you the ability to cancel any loop. You can connect new orchestrations together. It offers enough support so that you don't need to have the need to get another device. The user interface is simple and easy to use.

Have faced limitations due to high costs but have maintained reliability over time
The primary issue is the pricing, which is very expensive for my company's budget. We cannot afford to pay such a large fee. We are not Microsoft or BMW; we are a small company. As a small company, I have no power to negotiate directly with VMware. Perhaps larger companies have more opportunity to contract directly with VMware, but I do not have that leverage. The only path I can follow is to change solutions. Net.spA is a company working in the field of waste management. We are not a technological company, so we do not have a large margin to justify purchasing and maintaining the VMware infrastructure at current costs.

Pros

"It offers enough support so that you don't need to have the need to get another device."
"I strongly recommend the solution to people."
"vRealize Operations Manager gives us more detail and is best of breed when it comes to monitoring."
"We invested in this solution because monitoring was really important for us."
"Valuable features include trending of performance and capacity. Also, being able to dive into some more detailed analysis of performance metrics and compare them to a baseline of what's normal for particular time frames."
"What we do, as a whole for our group... is storage virtualization and the compute side. This product brings all those pieces into one interface and now we can actually correlate data between them."
"For project management and new clients, the What-If Analysis is very good. You can use it for workloads. When you are adding new workloads to your platform, it helps you avoid impacting your production."
"I have found the reporting tool, capacity planning, and reports for performance monitoring the most valuable features."
"It is a good and stable solution."
"It is easy to drill down directly to the root cause of a problem; it goes from network to storage with access to all the metrics, and when you run 100 percent virtual, then everything is in one tool."

Cons

"The solution is just too expensive, so maybe the pricing could be better."
"The solution is just too expensive, so maybe the pricing could be better."
"We haven't found it to be intuitive or user-friendly. We're on version 6.0, it's gotten better since but there's a lot of things we have to do under the hood to make it work how we want it to work."
"Some of the more advanced stuff takes a bit of time to dig into it. It takes a little longer to setup if you want really detailed stuff."
"I want vROps to have wider compatibility with older hardware. In this country, many companies have older hardware, so sometimes we can't support all the newest features."
"They could improve their consistency in execution."
"There may be some features I haven't found yet; there are a lot of things in there. Perhaps some tighter integration with the upgrade manager would be helpful."
"I would like to see improvements in managing within a single cluster - managing DRS a lot better as far as utilization of each host goes, within a single cluster."
"Unfortunately, it hasn't done a whole lot in that regard. It's taken a lot of setup time to kind of keep it in tune."
"They need to bring back the My Project piece. They removed it from the current release."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The product is too expensive to implement."
"I would like to see a free offering. Cost is always a factor in any sort of line. Obviously, the value added is there and it's worth it."
"This is an enterprise-level product and everything is included in the VMware Suite license."
"The value that we get from vROps is okay. It could be cheaper."
"Every VMware product is a licensing challenge. It's always costly. It's based on processors. From a technical side, the product is very good. The challenging part is always the licensing. They should have some kind of alternate pricing models."
"The predictive analysis of the infrastructure helps our customers to reduce downtime and improve capacity planning. Issues are fixed faster with vROps."
"We have licenses on a three year basis. Licensing costs are much higher, but given the stability of the solution, it is a reasonable price."
"vROps is a bit expensive and that's a reason that small clients say, 'No, I don't think we need this.' From a pricing perspective, it is quite steep. But 'expensive' is relative, depending on what you need. Others might say, 'It is expensive, but I think we can use it to better our environment.'"
