Effective project management and organization streamline task allocation
I feel that Codebeamer's workflow engine is working fine for me as of now, but there are better tools than Codebeamer available. Codebeamer is an old tool, and newer tools such as Jira offer a more appealing user interface. Codebeamer's UI is somewhat boring, while Jira's is more exciting and user-friendly. Other than the user interface, I would to see improvements in Codebeamer as it appears boring. The UI has been the same for a long time, and they haven't changed anything in that regard. It should be more colorful and interactive, and easier to navigate. When I initially used Jira before coming to this company, transitioning to Codebeamer felt challenging for someone unfamiliar with it. Compared to Jira, Codebeamer can be difficult for a layperson to understand.

Has supported highly regulated documentation needs but requires a modernized user experience
I think usability should be improved in IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) as the top priority. If you look at the UI, it was literally designed ten years ago, and even at the time it was introduced, it was already somewhat outdated. Even though it is a professional tool, nowadays people expect at least some level of usability from their tools, regardless of how professional the task is. Additionally, if you want to utilize it on a wide scale in an organization, you need to train every person to use it. There is always a threshold for new users to start using it.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Codebeamer's API-based integration and many other integration aspects with other solutions are very powerful."
"The features related to metrics are very useful."
"Our clients are getting a huge dividend on codeBeamer, as it allowed them to reduce their admin load by roughly 35-40% and they also experienced a nearly 65-70% reduction regarding customization and the deployment load."
"Since implementing this solution we have better communication and information exchange with customers."
"The traceability is so simple that I don't need to do any additional configurations related to traceability."
"The platform provided the flexibility to expand our business processes, accommodating or altering them to suit the requirements of a changing environment."
"The biggest advantage of Codebeamer is its ability to directly use built-in project management modules without the need for extensive customization."
"You can track the metrics in the Agile dashboard very easily."
"The word emulation and importing is good."
"The most valuable features are the customizability, workflow, and Kanban components."
"It's easy to use."
"It has improved relations with the customer through the Product Backlog and prioritizing their needs before launch."
"You can customize the board according to your needs."
"I use IBM Rational ALM in my daily work to verify the engineering tools to see the visibility aspects in different CLM facilities."
"The most valuable feature is the reporting of the CPU usage on the dashboard."
"It is very flexible and powerful for creating workflows, and in fact, it is the best solution available for creating workflows."

Cons

"It's still a fairly new tool that lacks maturity right now."
"The solution has a very small market share in China. It's almost like a startup."
"Usability needs to be improved."
"There are thousands of requirements that are modified or which are reviewed; those reviews cannot be seen at one single point in time."
"The solution tends to eat up a budget."
"One improvement could be to reduce the system or server requirements. For a client with a medium configuration server, Codebeamer did not work initially until the system was upgraded."
"The product's UI is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"There should be more integration tools available. Although Codebeamer has a substantial amount of integration options with multiple tools, new technologies and software constantly emerge."
"If you look at the UI, it was literally designed ten years ago, and even at the time it was introduced, it was already somewhat outdated."
"The features should be more intuitive. If I'm looking for something, its location should be easy to locate."
"Rational Design Manager isn't even 25% stable."
"I would like to see better reporting features. The out-of-box reporting is - I don't want to say limited - but the focus is on the Scrum and Sprint reports. We need more reporting features regarding the history of the work, tracking it more deeply."
"IBM Rational ALM is not that stable, at least in our company, it has several issues."
"The user interface requires significant improvement as it is overly complex."
"Improvement is needed in bridging DNG and Rhapsody and vice versa for better data exchange from both sides with some trigger technologies."
"This is not a very stable solution. We have to reboot frequently."
