Smooth workflow with deployment and validation efficiency
I think there should be a scheduler option if you want to run it, similar to Google Cloud, where you can specify how long you want to keep your scheduling active. If you want to use it as a server or for a temporary time duration, you should be able to schedule it so the server will be activated between specific durations and auto-deactivate to save costs. Sometimes, at the initial stages, there is a lack of instances. It takes more time to create the instance, but now it's much faster to activate your Codespaces and delete it. The earlier Git Codespaces billing setup on GitHub was much simpler. You could easily see how much credit you have, how much you have used, and your balance. Now they have changed it, and it's confusing to understand how much Codespaces time you have, how much you have used, and how much they are charging.

Has improved development efficiency through reusable components and intuitive programming features
When errors occur while programming, they are very generic. Even when searching the internet, the errors remain generic and it takes considerable time to understand the fix. This was predominantly felt because we were mostly working on writing code and developing features. Error handling needs to be improved. The patches and upgrade process is very long. In the last year and a half, I haven't upgraded, so we don't know if latest features have arrived. Another issue is with sessions. If we were working on code and then switch off our laptop for two to three days, the session would keep running. This consumes many resources and flags to the team that a user has been continuously using Oracle SQL Developer. There should be a timeout period for inactive sessions.

Pros

"The developer experience is consistent, and its pricing makes sense since it optimizes the resources."
"The product allows us to implement feature-related changes or improvements on time. Whenever I write a section of the code or create a new code, it automatically integrates with the former code."
"Codespaces' most valuable feature is the repository, which helps the developers to work together. Its data commands are also useful."
"I prefer Codespaces because it gets activated in seconds and has all the pre-dependencies which any developer could need, such as Docker and Python."
"The most valuable features of the solution are Copilot and Advanced Security."
"We see benefits from Codespaces in terms of onboarding new team members; it is very simple."
"The review functionality of the pull requests is very handy, as not only can you give comments, but you can also suggest replacements for sentences with different words."
"The integration with Visual Studio Code offers a good and fast user experience that feels like a local experience."
"Maintaining databases is the most valuable feature in Oracle SQL Developer; it's also easy to use, fast, and intuitive."
"I assess the benefits of Oracle SQL Developer's reporting framework for data-driven decision making by stating that Oracle is the most efficient database for relational databases in my opinion."
"You do not have to install it, just dump it on the OS, then use it."
"As a database trainer, I would like to say that although SQL developer is an open-source software, yet it provides a lot of features that you can find only in paid versions of its counterparts."
"It's free, it's very easy to use, and has a nice GUI."
"The solution I've created is revenue forecasting and our organization goes to Wall Street with the earnings call, with the forecast."
"It allows us to implement a form of test driven development (TDD) for database-resident code."
"It's easy to deploy, I can copy it onto the system and run it without having to install it and this makes it a very good solution for quick use."

Cons

"Sometimes it is just two or three hours a day where they are totally unreachable, and it might happen like five times a month."
"The main issue is related to state preservation on a disconnection. When I close the laptop and open it in a different place, the state of the environment disappears, and I need to rerun several commands."
"The earlier Git Codespaces billing setup on GitHub was much simpler. You could easily see how much credit you have, how much you have used, and your balance. Now they have changed it, and it's confusing to understand how much Codespaces time you have, how much you have used, and how much they are charging."
"We get merge conflict errors and need to resolve them."
"The technical support could respond faster."
"When I close the laptop and open it in a different place, the state of the environment disappears, and I need to rerun several commands. This context switch affects productivity."
"The product indicates incorrect statistics."
"SQL Developer only shows a snapshot of the execution statistics and performance metrics at the moment you request the report."
"It's not so stable. Sometimes it crashes, and the connection to the databases is bad."
"There are occasional runtime issues that are easily worked around, especially on a Windows deployment."
"If you're trying to return exceedingly large data sets into the tool for some reason to download, that could be a challenge, depending on the memory on your machine and the disk space you have to output it to."
"Toad is much faster to use. It's not Java which takes a lot of time to query and create things."
"It's more stable sometimes and less stable other times. I have used it on Windows, Mac, and Linux. It's variable, it's not the same stability. I think that can be improved on."
"There is room for improvement in the Real Time SQL Monitoring."
"As our company keeps on growing, our data also keeps on growing. Currently, we are a $12-billion company and this tool supports us; our projection in the future is to grow from $12 billion to $20 billion in the next three years and I am not sure whether it might help then or not, as our data will also grow consequently."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I am using the product’s free version."
