In terms of improvement for Darktrace, pricing is the main concern. Pricing bothers me and this is one of the major factors when choosing a solution. When we get feedback from customers, that's the only felt need. When we factor in Darktrace, we do it only limited. We put it on where the perimeters and connections are, but still, some gray areas are left out, especially if we have multiple branches. We need Darktrace on each branch to get the data out, and I suggest having some kind of a centralized product that gets data from multiple sources to aggregate and provide the data.

Centralized threat intelligence has protected vip accounts and detects dark web exposure quickly
Pricing is a problem as I see it. The credit-based model is extremely expensive. If a company does not have at least €70,000 to invest, they tend to avoid the solution because of the cost structure. The issue is not necessarily the pricing itself, but rather the credit-based model. If the pricing were structured as a flat fee of €70,000 or €30,000 with unlimited searches and unlimited credits, I would see much greater value in the solution. However, with the current model, you pay tens of thousands of euros and still have limitations on your searches. For an MSSP like myself, this is particularly challenging because we have dozens of customers. If we conduct a search for every customer monthly, bi-monthly, or even quarterly, the credits will be depleted by the end of the year or even sooner. The credits can become expendable very quickly, sometimes within a few months. This is the only downside of SOCRadar Extended Threat Intelligence. Otherwise, I believe it is almost the perfect tool for CTI. I consider it the leading CTI tool on the market. There are many others that try to get close to it, but they are not even close.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is a stable solution."
"Darktrace is very stable, and I would rate its stability a ten out of ten."
"Implementing this solution has given us confidence that we are secure."
"Regarding the autonomous response feature, I appreciate how it functions within the platform."
"The most valuable feature is that it gives us visibility of rogue traffic that is on the network."
"Technical support is helpful and responsive."
"Its AI technology supports cybersecurity by learning my environment and accurately responding to threats."
"The most valuable feature is the solution's ability to trim out the false positives and point your attention to the real important stuff."
"The most complete solution of all, which goes across everything and the entire spectrum, is SOCRadar Extended Threat Intelligence."
"The best feature that SOCRadar Extended Threat Intelligence offers is definitely the detection of leaks in the dark web."

Cons

"I would like to see some additional enhancements."
"Needs to improve its collaboration with local partners."
"There are still some issues with the network capturing or blocking traffic even after implementing exceptions."
"In the next version, I'd like to see penetration testing."
"One thing I would like is for Darktrace to flag SMB traffic more accurately. Currently, it only flags that SMB traffic has occurred, but it doesn't specify which file was being transferred. This makes it difficult to investigate incidents involving SMB traffic, as we don't have concrete evidence of what was being sent."
"This is quite an expensive product so the pricing is something that can be improved."
"It would be useful if there was a way to check to see if there are certain devices that are not in sync with the solution. I'm not sure if this is an option or not."
"The user interface and the configuration are a bit complex and should be improved or simplified."
"SOCRadar Extended Threat Intelligence does not handle growth well as my needs change."
"Pricing is a problem as I see it. The credit-based model is extremely expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost of the solution is expensive for smaller businesses. They will not be able to afford it or might not need this type of security solution."
"In the ballpark, we're talking about $30K, $50K, and up. It can even be as much as $50K or $100K."
"The cost of the solution can be reduced to make it more appealing to customers."
"They are too expensive compared with other vendors."
"Prior to negotiating, Darktrace offered their appliance and service for $80,000 per year."
"Our customers feel that the price of Darktrace is quite high compared to other solutions."
"The price of the solution is not cheap. It is not a one-time purchase, there is a subscription that needs to be paid every one to five years depending on your choice. It is expensive but you can reduce the price by only using the services that you want."
"There is an annual license to use Darktrace."
