Easy to set up, simple to use, and quite secure
We primarily use the solution for a personal secondary backup The solution is easy to use. So far, the performance has been good.  It offers a very easy setup. The integration capabilities have been good. It's very stable and quite secure.  I cannot speak to any particular areas of improvement.…

Centralized secret management has strengthened security and simplified compliance across cloud-native environments
Configuring HashiCorp Vault since we are mainly using it in Kubernetes or OpenShift clusters took some time and effort to align with our deployment. The initial setup can be a little confusing and complex for someone who is newer. However, it is not impossible to achieve, but it will take some time to understand the product. The ACLs within HashiCorp Vault, such as policies and AppRole authentication, were not intuitive at first. However, we slowly became habituated to the product once we began using it. Once we moved past the learning curve of these challenges, HashiCorp Vault becomes a critical security layer of our workloads. The only minor challenge is the initial setup complexity, especially for teams new to HashiCorp Vault's authentication methods and storage backends. Other than that, it works flawlessly.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The synchronization is the solution's most valuable feature; it works really well, and the ability to have secure notes is also very helpful."
"The integration capabilities have been good."
"Dashlane's most valuable feature is Hotspot Shield, the VPN feature that allows you to connect securely to public wifi."
"The solution is easy to use, the performance has been good, the integration capabilities have been good, and it is very stable and quite secure."
"I like the ability to share passwords without them being visible to other team members, and the auto-fill capabilities are great too."
"Using HashiCorp Vault has led to measurable changes, particularly in secret management and cost optimizations."
"HashiCorp Vault has positively impacted my organization by streamlining access and secret management."
"It is user-friendly and easy to implement from any application point."
"The initial setup is easy and it is not complex or difficult to configure."
"This solution is easy to use and to integrate."
"HashiCorp Vault has positively impacted security governance that we have by greatly reducing the risk of a leak and then a bypass, but overall, it's increased the security of our organization."
"It's stable. I would rate the stability a nine out of ten."
"The most valuable feature of HashiCorp Vault is version control."

Cons

"The integration with the VPN feature could be smoother."
"The cost, while decent, of course, could always be less."
"There should also be an easier way to be able to transfer user data to other users who have kind of left the company. It could be a little bit cheaper."
"It would be nice to have the solution localized in Europe. Dashlane is an American company. It's controlled by American laws and regulations that allows the American government to have full access to my data with Dashlane. That's why I am leaving Dashlane, because we can't accept such an important function in American control."
"In my opinion, HashiCorp Vault could improve its user interface. Right now, they don't offer much in terms of a graphical interface, which means you usually have to manage things manually through API calls. I think CyberArk has a better approach because it provides a UI that integrates features across all its components, making it easier, especially for new users or those from organizations with strict licensing policies."
"The solution could be much easier to implement. We are trying to implement it now."
"The onboarding is a challenge. It should be more self-service, but it involves reviews and approvals."
"The solution's initial setup process is complicated."
"I would like to see better integration of HashiCorp Vault with SAP products."
"HashiCorp Vault can be improved more because it has provided only metadata and API paths."
"I don't think there are any major improvements required—so far, so good. However, I think that having more training materials, such as videos, and documentation available would be helpful. I would prefer to have more videos available either on the official site or on YouTube."
"It could do everything we wanted it to do and it is brilliant, but it is super pricey."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is a little bit on the expensive side."
"I am using the open-source version of Vault and I would have to buy a license if I want to get support."
"The solution's cost is reasonable."
"It could do everything we wanted it to do and it is brilliant, but it is super pricey. To be fair to HashiCorp, we drove the price up with our requirements around resiliency. Because of the nature of our company, we don't really operate in the cloud."
"The AWS version is much cheaper than HashiCorp Vault."
"The product is expensive."
"In my case, the open-source version works well. It's advisable for small to medium-scale organizations, but for large-scale organizations, you should go with the enterprise version."
