Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Security needs improvement and email scanning features are not included
The email scanning feature is not available in DeepArmor. We cannot use this for email scanning. There are many options that are not available in DeepArmor. We cannot use separate applications for different internet applications or for different internet scanning. This is why we cannot use it. I would like to see additional features such as email scanning, which should be included, or malware detections, and other cybersecurity features should be included. It could also be more secure.

Ransomware threats have been contained but application visibility remains a challenge
The best features of Trend Vision One Endpoint Security are the ransomware protection and the vulnerability protection module which has helped us to secure our endpoints against various threats. Since we are using endpoint security along with the EDR, the vulnerability protection module helps to identify which threat group is active and is using which specific vulnerability and also it helps to detect if those vulnerabilities exist within our environment and shows which machine is affected. Along with that, it also helps me see if Trend Micro offers an intrusion prevention system rule against that particular vulnerability. Trend Vision One has very good threat intelligence, which has helped in protecting against malware attacks for quite some time now. We have seen Trend Vision One Endpoint Security's EDR capability help our security operations move at a faster pace compared to earlier. With all the incidents that we have seen in the recent past, the mean time to detect and respond is significantly better than before.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We think that this product will help us grow, as it meets our needs currently and we can grow with it over time."
"It detected stuff that other things wouldn't detect."
"I can highlight that we have not faced any security incidents with Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks, and even though our environment is quite dynamic, we have not faced any security incident with Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks until now."
"I like the centralized console and the predictive analysis it does of malware. It is very stable and also scalable."
"Threat identification and detection are the most valuable features of this solution."
"Cortex is a very good total solution on the endpoints."
"I recommend this solution to others because it is easy to manage, reliable, and overall good to use."
"The product's initial setup phase is very easy."
"It is easy to install."
"Trend Micro covers many things, and the solution right now is called EDR; it's a good solution and they have something called Suite that incorporates many engines like encryption, GLB, and antivirus."
"The ease of deployment is one of its most valuable features."
"The most valuable feature of Trend Micro Apex One is the response time and detection module."
"From a technology point of view, it is very simple to install, it's not heavy on the endpoint in terms of the amount of processing cycles. It is simple to deploy and the interfaces are easy. You don't need to be a scientist to operate it."
"It's easy to use and used to be a very good solution."
"This is definitely a product that I recommend."
"Trend Micro Apex One is good for endpoint protection."
"Technical support is quite knowledgeable and helpful."

Cons

"Cortex does not offer an on-premises solution. However, some customers would prefer not to be on the cloud. It would be ideal if it could offer something on-prem as well."
"In reporting they should have a customizable dashboard due to the fact that C-level people don't like reporting to the IT department. They prefer to have a real-time dashboard. That kind of dashboard needs to have various customizations."
"Previously, the endpoint would leave the environment, not being on our VPN, essentially unable to interact with the server to upload files. It was unable to retrieve new file verdicts. It was using a thing called "local analysis" to determine if something was a malicious file or not. There was no dynamic analysis."
"The solution should add unwanted malicious hash values to a block list so that whenever the action is triggered, it will automatically prevent the malicious content."
"We had a problem with getting our older endpoints up to date, but their newest updates have been really good. I've been pleased with it in terms of what our needs are. It's doing what we want it to do."
"They have the worst support, as a company, that I have ever worked with, as they are difficult to get a hold of and keep on the phone. They don't know what they are talking about when you get them on the phone. They don't like to respond to messages when you send them to them. They like to "research problems" for weeks on end, then pass you off to somebody else."
"The solution eats memory of the computer, unlike anything I've ever seen."
"The solution should force customers to integrate with network traffic to see the full benefits of XDR."
"The email scanning feature is not available in DeepArmor. We cannot use this for email scanning."
"I don't like the firewall feature, it adds itself to the NIC card of the machine and when you try to remove it, the client loses internet capability."
"From what I can tell, the technical support is non-existent."
"If certain alerts could be translated into day-to-day English with some action plans, a few points, what to do, and how to do it, that would help me personally as IT Manager."
"Support sometimes takes time to attend to queries, and I have noticed a bug in email security where inbound protection quarantines emails that have attachments, which blocks legitimate emails that have signatures attached, as the email gateway considers those as actual attachments."
"Tech support needs improvement. We raised certain cases regarding a lag in terms of a solution, and the response time was slow."
"The only thing that I would like to see changed or improved in the next release is when it reports C&C callbacks, to make it easier to trace, to see what's doing that, whether it's a program checking for updates or a malicious program."
"I want more options and flexibility when creating rules. I want to set rules that are contingent, like "If this happens, then this, this, and this will happen.""
"The only concern that I have is with Trend Micro not having Cloud Proxy integrated into the same agent and the same console."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I am using the Community edition."
"It is present, but when compared to other competitive products, I would say it is not less expensive; however, when all of the other added values are considered, the price is reasonable."
"The cost of Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is $55 to $90 USD per endpoint per month."
"It's the most expensive solution, but features-wise, it's quite strong. It's very good for protection, so the results are very good in the case of protection. I would rate it a two out of ten in terms of pricing."
"I did PoCs on products called Cylance and CrowdStrike. Although, I consider these products and they were also good, when it come to cost and budgetary factors, Traps has been proven to be better than the other two products. It is quite cost-effective and delivers all the entire solution which we require."
"Its pricing is kind of in line with its competitors and everybody else out there."
"It's way too expensive, but security is expensive. You pay for your licensing, and then you pay for someone to monitor the stuff."
"Cortex XDR's pricing is ok."
"There are licensing fees."
"The price of the solution is fair and there is a per-user license to use the solution. Our costs are approximately $2,000 a month, it can get costly if you have a lot of users."
"Apex One has a high cost."
"The SaaS version is competitively priced and amazingly easy to set up."
"Trend Micro has very aggressive pricing, but it is also very good."
"The price of the solution is reasonable."
"It is a little bit more expensive than other solutions."
"The licensing fee and support are bundled together."
"Currently, the price for Trend Micro Apex One is good and there are no extra costs attached."
