Has improved credential security with remote password change and role-based access
I have not faced any significant issues with Delinea Secret Server during this period of time, but we had a problem with a web password filler, which is a template used for accessing a web URL using Secret Server, where we faced some session management issues since session management is not applicable for the web password filler. This should be the improvement that we require from Delinea Secret Server. The session management is not applicable in this case; we can manage the session and have session management inside the remote systems within the organization. However, when it comes to web-related access, we can access directly through Delinea Secret Server. We can access any URL through Secret Server, but the problem is that the session cannot be managed on the web URL due to it having multiple systems. I do not have any other recommendations regarding the improvement of Delinea Secret Server at this time.

A reliable solution with great password and session management
The setup process depends on the environment of the customer. It's not dependent on the solution. For customers with normal use cases and scenarios, it's a straightforward implementation, but for a customer with more than one environment, they may have BeyondTrust in one environment and Safeguard in another one. When they want to consolidate later, there may be complications. It depends on the devices and assets they would like to have under their PAM solution. The standard time for implementation is four weeks. I rate the setup an eight out of ten. There needs to be a dedicated resource for maintenance.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Its technical support is good."
"It is a stable solution."
"There are lots of great custom features and network monitoring capabilities."
"Ease of use because of its monolithic software."
"The discovery engine is really robust and flexible. It had some session management features that are better compared to some other vendors. Overall the GUI is very good and straightforward to operate compared to other solutions. For example, CyberArk and Hitachi tend to be hard to navigate."
"Thycotic is a product that is so friendly that it can be used by nearly anyone and everyone, and that is a good place to be."
"It works for us."
"I like that it is Windows-based. It is good that primarily, it is not an appliance. Some of the other applications in the space, such as a Quest Software CPAM or a Safeguard, are appliances, so you can't deploy the ends of them. With Thycotic, you can either install your Temporal Protection module physically in the VM host, or you can use BouncyCastle for high-security module capabilities."
"The technical support for this solution is very good."
"Safeguard is a mature solution and is implemented by a large number of customers."
"The most valuable features are session and password management."
"Privileged Access Suite's best feature is it's straightforward to use."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is that it is easy to use."

Cons

"Very occasionally indexes won’t contain all the search results expected."
"We could definitely use some help with API tokenization. If we had a way to store tokens that would be fabulous."
"It is also very expensive, and its price should be lower."
"Improvements are needed in session management, behavioral analytics, and the reporting segment."
"In terms of what could be improved, the whole thing with distributed engines, et cetera, is a little bit tricky."
"In many PAM tools, when users request a password checkout, they need to provide justification. However, in my experience across four organizations, nobody actually reads the justifications. Users can simply type anything and get the password. This becomes a risk and compliance issue. There needs to be continuous improvement in this area, focusing on problem identification and mitigation strategies."
"One of the product areas that could be improved is the ease of handling SSL certificates within the application."
"The tool should integrate additional features like OCR."
"I rate the technical support a six out of ten. The technical support of One Identity depends on the case; if it is product-related, it takes quite a while, and they have to go back to the product management team."
"Product management should be improved."
"There is a new trend of not having any privileged users or accounts."
"Privileged Access Suite's interface could be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is an annual license needed to use Delinea Secret Server."
"Secret Server is expensive when compared to the cost to some alternatives."
"It isn't terribly expensive."
"I would rate the pricing a six out of ten, with ten being a high price."
"The pricing is standard in this business and we have no complaints about it."
"Its price is okay. We don't compete on pricing. We seldom use price to win over our competitors. We prefer it this way because if we can sustain the price, we make more margin as well. We don't want the price to go down to the bottom where despite the win, there's no margin at all."
"We have an enterprise license as well as a user license and a support license."
"When comparing the price of Thycotic Secret Server with other solutions it is reasonable."
