Quick and easy deployment; great recovery
Veeam should work more closely with vCenter. Sometimes the Veeam backup can cause errors that can affect some of operations within the VMware machines. I cannot say whether the bug is with VMware or Veeam, but the companies should work together on this. Also, when something breaks, it's not easy for us to fix. I'm running a banking solution at my company and when there's a problem, I need to be proactive and quick to resolve the problem immediately. Any time I spend on the phone with technical support translates into losses for my company. So, training would be very beneficial. Empower me to use your product efficiently. It would also be nice for long-term customers to receive some sort of recognition in terms of price reduction.

Have faced limitations due to high costs but have maintained reliability over time
The primary issue is the pricing, which is very expensive for my company's budget. We cannot afford to pay such a large fee. We are not Microsoft or BMW; we are a small company. As a small company, I have no power to negotiate directly with VMware. Perhaps larger companies have more opportunity to contract directly with VMware, but I do not have that leverage. The only path I can follow is to change solutions. Net.spA is a company working in the field of waste management. We are not a technological company, so we do not have a large margin to justify purchasing and maintaining the VMware infrastructure at current costs.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"My experience with the solution's technical support was perfect. They are so knowledgeable, all of them. They don't take any chances."
"My experience with the solution's technical support was perfect; they are so knowledgeable and they don't take any chances."
"Based on those usage patterns, we can determine when our best maintenance times are and when we need to scale things up or down."
"ROI’s very good. Ultimately, based on the business case that we did, we spent 20 million dollars and got 50 million dollars return on investment."
"Overall, it's a great solution, it's really easy to use, really easy to set up, and especially for reporting, it's really good."
"vRealize has products created especially for virtualized infrastructure by VMware, and its main features are great."
"We use vROps for our many VMware infrastructures and it is mainly for IT operations because we're processing a lot of information, and vROps is good for us for reporting and for monitoring hosts and VMs."
"It has been helpful around capacity planning, which we traditionally did on a yearly basis. However, since last year, I started using vROps to reclaim and save more resources. It has been helpful along those lines."
"With version six, stability is really good."
"vROps is more user-friendly than some other products that we've seen on the market. It was very easy for our technicians to pick up. The search functionality works well. It makes it easy for our technicians to get down to a workload that they're possibly having an issue with."

Cons

"When something breaks, it's not easy for us to fix."
"When something breaks, it's not easy for us to fix. I'm running a banking solution at my company and when there's a problem, I need to be proactive and quick to resolve the problem immediately."
"It's one of those products that's very, very powerful, but getting to a place where you can harness that power, there's a pretty steep learning curve."
"I'd probably like to see a little bit more detail when you go through the drill-down menus, in regards to stats, and maybe the way the data is arranged could be a little bit more cosmetically appealing."
"The biggest issue we have with it, honestly, is the interface, it's very unintuitive."
"Maybe some easier ways of getting some of the NSX monitoring products."
"They can change the interface for the 6.7 vSphere that would make it more simple and more friendly."
"I'd like to see more integration with other applications."
"The product's support services need improvement."
"Having the capability to manage the enterprise display would be highly beneficial."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The solution has helped to reduce the time to troubleshoot issues."
"We have seen huge ROI. It has certainly reduced troubleshooting."
"VMware support is very costly compared to other organizations' support. When you purchase a VMware product, such as vSphere or vROps, the license is perpetual, but you also have to purchase the support service for a number of years. The support service pricing is very high compared to the license, and compared to competitive vendors."
"The licensing is quite expensive for our company."
"The value that we get from vROps is okay. It could be cheaper."
"Most small users don't adopt VMware Aria Operations until it's necessary. Small businesses are looking for it, too. We need more monitoring and insights, so we're analyzing solutions to help us out here. I rate the solution’s pricing a five out of ten."
"I would like to see a free offering. Cost is always a factor in any sort of line. Obviously, the value added is there and it's worth it."
"It has reduced time to troubleshoot issues. With our customized dashboards, we can target issues and attribute them to the correct team."
