Quick and easy deployment; great recovery
Veeam should work more closely with vCenter. Sometimes the Veeam backup can cause errors that can affect some of operations within the VMware machines. I cannot say whether the bug is with VMware or Veeam, but the companies should work together on this. Also, when something breaks, it's not easy for us to fix. I'm running a banking solution at my company and when there's a problem, I need to be proactive and quick to resolve the problem immediately. Any time I spend on the phone with technical support translates into losses for my company. So, training would be very beneficial. Empower me to use your product efficiently. It would also be nice for long-term customers to receive some sort of recognition in terms of price reduction.

Have faced limitations due to high costs but have maintained reliability over time
The primary issue is the pricing, which is very expensive for my company's budget. We cannot afford to pay such a large fee. We are not Microsoft or BMW; we are a small company. As a small company, I have no power to negotiate directly with VMware. Perhaps larger companies have more opportunity to contract directly with VMware, but I do not have that leverage. The only path I can follow is to change solutions. Net.spA is a company working in the field of waste management. We are not a technological company, so we do not have a large margin to justify purchasing and maintaining the VMware infrastructure at current costs.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"My experience with the solution's technical support was perfect. They are so knowledgeable, all of them. They don't take any chances."
"If you're not using it, certainly go out and get it."
"When we have problems with applications, we are fast with troubleshooting because we use vROps."
"Its benefits vastly outweigh the price that it costs, the time it takes to implement, and what it can do for your SaS is unbelievable."
"The ROI is that it saves us a lot of time, it helps us keep our customers up, and there is very little downtime."
"We have seen huge ROI; it has certainly reduced troubleshooting, especially when we have less experienced support technicians than engineers looking at it, as it guides them to where to find the solution and now I have a lot less junior staff coming up to me asking what has gone wrong because it displays on the dashboard what they can do to resolve it."
"The most valuable feature is its ability to monitor the trends and accurately make predictions about when and where and how and what you need to buy to, first of all, get ahead of your sprawling growth."
"By using vROps plus Blue Medora TVS you can Maximize Performance, Minimize InvestmentReduce the IT tools, eliminate silos and boost IT productivity by up to 67%."
"It will definitely help them manage their infrastructure."

Cons

"When something breaks, it's not easy for us to fix."
"When something breaks, it's not easy for us to fix. I'm running a banking solution at my company and when there's a problem, I need to be proactive and quick to resolve the problem immediately."
"At first, it was not so user-friendly because there was so much information that we were lost."
"I do use Uila, which is very good. I would say it's more robust than vROps, because it's a single solution."
"I wouldn't say that this solution is user-friendly. You need to know a lot of tricks to know how to use it. It's quite buggy and quite slow when it comes to loading."
"Continue on the endpoint side, so you can dig deeper into the Windows operating system, services, and events, because we're trying to use it to replace System Center Operations Manager (SCOM). It doesn't quite do everything, but it's getting there."
"Security has been a boom for companies in the last few years, and considering how important security is, there have been a lot of tools that offer better integrations. So, the current tool can be used for any integrations in any environment, which is something VMware is not yet that efficient at."
"We had some problems with updating it. The two times that we upgraded vRealize Operations Manager, we lost all our data."
"I would like the product to be more interoperable with other solutions: more hybrids."
"It is sometimes quite hard to use. If I need details, there is a huge amount of information that I need to review. It isn't a three-click solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The value that we get from vROps is okay. It could be cheaper."
"Cost is an issue on vROps. The Standard edition, for an organization our size, is just not useful at all. However, I like the price point of vROps Standard. But as a company, the Advanced is the minimum version that we can use, because we need the customization, we need a lot of the features that Advanced brings. But the price is substantially higher than Standard. It's always been a challenge to try to go in to my leadership and say, "Here's what I want." I've always got to go back and super-justify it and it's not an easy win. Whereas, if the pricing were closer to the Standard model, or maybe even a little bit above that, it's an easier conversation with leadership. But because it really feels like more than double the price, I'm not sure the value, double the money, is there, as an easy-sell to my leadership."
"Pricing is good for us. We're non-profit so we get a break on that."
"I would give the solution a three out of five, with one being cheap and five being expensive. There are some elements of the pricing that are good, and some areas where I feel like I'm being charged for something the product can't provide yet."
"It is an affordable solution that doesn't require any additional costs."
"Our budgets are always tight. We would like to have more features at lower licensing levels for easier access to them."
"The pricing: It's expensive."
"Our manpower costs have been reduced due to the automation in conjunction with the usage of the dashboard."
