Has simplified multi-database querying and accelerated solution delivery with minimal setup
Denodo offers a great query language, the VQL, which was very easy to understand for someone that only knows SQL. It was easy to work with, and it was easy to integrate various types of databases in general. The usability of the platform is very great. The federated queries were also a feature that I used a lot. The easy usability of Denodo helped my work and made things easier for productivity. We were able to ship code faster than if we needed to use another type of data visualization tool or even an ETL. When we have multiple databases, the standard or common approach is just to have an ETL that matches the data, and we need to write this whole ETL. With Denodo, we can simplify this whole work to a few queries or setups in the databases and just make a few queries. This was actually easier, and it was faster to deliver a solution for a client instead of building a whole ETL pipeline or simply backfilling one database in another. Denodo simplifies your work and helps you ship code or ship solutions in a faster way. I really like the UI that Denodo has on the web app version. It was very simple and actually very beautiful to see. For a complicated program, it was very easy to understand how it works, even for someone who is just approaching the data engineering career or side of the programming language.
Facilitates seamless connections and automation across multiple data sources
Toad Data Point should include more features for utilizing AI, which can automatically perform many tasks. The tool should have a feature where, if I convert my Oracle connection, the code, whether a select statement or anything else, should automatically convert into Oracle format. The same with SQL. When connecting to SQL, the code should be in SQL format, and when connecting to Teradata, it should be in Teradata format. Since not everyone knows all languages, there should be a feature that automatically converts code into the desired format. It's not user-friendly. Once you start using it, you eventually get to know the features.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"In general, it's good for us to make tests so we can scout the data."
"The ability to transfer data is very valuable."
"Access to numerous forums and internet information."
"The most valuable feature of Denodo is its uniformity of self-site data access types, which allows it to connect to almost any storage technology and feed it transparently."
"It can support a number of data sources, and it can pull flat files, from cloud-based databases or from those on-premises. Denodo can pull from any data source and interface with the view. Then, we can publish the view."
"The logical data warehouse functionality is fantastic. It truly stands out. The ClearOptimizer and Virtual Cache are great features. They work together seamlessly to optimize performance."
"Overall, the product works quite well and has a good set of features."
"It provides useful APIs and integrates with other systems."
"The most valuable features of Toad Data are you could write a parameterized query and it wouldn't error out, it would give you the parameters that you could input. The auto-formatting feature is useful because it was great for keeping your queries neat and understandable. The auto comment, and uncomment toggles that you could do were convenient."
"We love it."
"The Connectivity and Connection Manager supports a broad number of connection types, and it is trivial for end-users to set up their own connections to sources."
"The best thing about it is its automation features."
"One of the greatest features is that you can get data from anywhere to anywhere with Toad Data Point."
"With Toad Data Point, I can automate most steps automatically."
"It provides better SQL development tooling than SQL Developer, which is not a sufficient tool for all development use cases. It offers power developers the tools they need."
"I have never experienced any issues with customer service."

Cons

"To make it easier to use or a better tool, the architecture and internal design of the folders for organizing the structure of the different data could be more structured."
"It would be good if the solution provided a much-needed cellular platform."
"They need to invest more in the optimization engine. It will be a fantastic tool for them to enhance automation and improve the GUI interface, especially for Integration, as some tools are still not fully integrated, such as Iceberg."
"The cache configuration is more complicated."
"In my opinion, it's very expensive. For small companies, it's not a solution that most small companies can afford."
"I am still waiting for Denodo to support vector databases."
"Lacks integrations with AWS, GCP and the like."
"I would like it if we could pull the data model or export the data model because Denodo has, based on how you build, something called associations. The data model gets very confusing when you go look at it. It depends on how you define it, but it's really huge. I wish there was a way to export it into Visio. It could be that they already have a way to do it, and I don't know, but it would be much easier for the architects and even for the developers to look at it than scrunching it into the screen and expanding every small portion of it. If there was an easy way to export the Denodo model into another modeling tool and view it, it would be great."
"The Mac license is incredibly expensive. It is 1,600 dollars each, which is more than the Windows version."
"I used their report writing a little bit, however, it could improve since it's not a really good report writer and it's a little clunky."
"On the scheduling server, some scheduled reports just sit there and never execute for the first time. After manually executing the first time, they run with no issues."
"It's not user-friendly. Once you start using it, you eventually get to know the features."
"I used their report writing a little bit, however, it could improve since it's not a really good report writer and it's a little clunky."
"It's not user-friendly. Once you start using it, you eventually get to know the features."
"Toad Data could improve by having additional features, such as query prediction. This could help someone who's not the strongest programmer. If the software could help them write queries correctly it would be very helpful, especially for small development teams or teams that lack the input skills necessary to write and program efficiently."
"The Mac license is incredibly expensive. It is 1,600 dollars each, which is more than the Windows version. Scalability is difficult when it is that costly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Cost wise, on a scale from one to five, with one being the cheapest and five being the most expensive, Denodo would be at three. We get all the features in a bundle."
"The licensing charges for this solution are payable annually."
"I don't know the actual cost, but it's tens of thousands of dollars per month."
"The licensing should be improved, as the cost per connector is quite expensive."
"The cost for Denodo is in line with other similar products."
"Denodo provides a lightweight 30-day free trial, but when we do courses on top of it, it costs $150 for each person."
"Talking with my manager and others, nobody has complained about the pricing so far which is a positive sign."
"I am not super familiar with the pricing, but so far, it seems good. We have been happy. We haven't seen any problems. The only time we had to pay extra was during the upgrade. We didn't upgrade at the time they told us to upgrade, and we had to pay extra to keep the service. They had stopped the support for the older version and moved to the newer version. It was not their fault. It was our fault because we didn't get on board quickly."
"The Mac licenses are expensive, costing 1,600 dollars each. This is much higher than for the Windows version. I maintain a very limited number of licenses due to this cost."
"The cost of this product is reasonable."
"The price of Toad Data Point was approximately $500 annually."
