Fast installation, reliable, with proven results for small to mid-size companies
The scalability is excellent. We have input close to fifty billion rows in Domo, and this is where we saw the cards winded in pretty slowly. So we had a performance issue there, but say maximum up to twenty-five to thirty billion, this product is flawless. But when we talk about big data analytics with too many self-service components, this is where we see some performance depreciation. We have more than two hundred using the solution.

User-friendly solution but data modelling could be simplified
So far, it looks stable for us. One other good thing is that the platform is software as a subscription, and Oracle regularly releases updates. They are quarterly and are fairly updated; they don't really introduce any new features without informing customers in advance about the upcoming releases. So they're constantly improving it, and there is a regular upgrade. I'm like, "You know, you need to do a version upgrade and optimize. Maybe we do it once in three years or five years." But the cloud solution is where there are constant updates and ticketing releases every quarterly. So that's something which is very good. You don't have to wait for, you know, the version upgrades or something where the new features are expected only in the new version and whatever it is here. It is continuous development and also continuous releases of new features. That's something good in terms of their cloud solutions.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ability to create custom connectors was useful because you never know, with customers, what platform they want to utilize or what data they have. It gave us a lot of flexibility in being able to bring data in from different places."
"We have found securing data valuable because it allows us to provide information without identifying individuals."
"The fact that you can add any data source is valuable. The entire data handling suite they have, all the apps, etc., is pretty amazing. One of the key things, not being a techie or a data-warehouse guy, is that you can connect data sources, and do all kinds of pretty amazing things."
"This solution allows us to change our performance metrics and tracks our goals in real-time."
"The dashboard is the most valuable feature and allows for customization to create and share reports."
"Domo is not a difficult tool to learn. All you need to know is the SQL for the ETL part. You don't need to write much code. That's the great part. It uses legacy languages, like SQL, which is very common among developers who then don't have to go and learn Domo's own syntax. Therefore, you don't have to learn another hard language to use Domo."
"The solution is highly stable."
"The pipeline features and data ingestions in Domo are quite good."
"The most valuable features are user-friendly and self-service tools. Users can define their reports based on available data sets, with multiple dimensions and slide and dice data capabilities."
"Its ease of use and the ability to drill down into detail are the most valuable. Executive dashboarding features are the most commonly used ones."
"The solution effectively integrates with third-party products."
"Initial setup was straightforward."

Cons

"Their STK is not up to date and you can't access it on their website. They have a private STK to access resources in Domo."
"I would like to publish a dashboard for the employees so that they can also see the performance of our organization. But that is not a feature in Domo, although it's something that Zoho provided."
"Their organization or client service didn't always keep up... They took on more and more clients and the processes slowed down a little bit."
"It's too early for me to say that something needs improvement, but there are times when there have been some flexibility issues with Domo... Tableau has a window function which can be integrated into a calculated field. That is missing in Domo so you have to make changes to the data set using ETL or SQL."
"It is expensive."
"It's quite slow. We are using about 2,000,000 rows of data. Creating certain reports takes almost a couple of minutes, which should not be the case."
"Domo or any other BI tool has room for improvement, in particular, in the calculations. User-guided material isn't available for calculations. The tool, though user-friendly, could also be more customizable, especially when you're building a dashboard. Data integration could also be improved in Domo because even if the tool connects to multiple data sources, some hiccups still arise and need to be addressed."
"I would like to see more flexibility in their pricing structure. The trend is moving from database pricing to a user-license pricing model. That would be a benefit if they wanted to reevaluate their pricing structure."
"Quality of support varies."
"The dashboard could be improved and include additional features."
"When looking at web-based BI or cloud-based BI vendors, there should be abilities for power users to build deep analysis. If they are not data science tools, they are not for power users."
"In terms of data modeling, it could be simplified. Sometimes, it seems complicated. Also, the response time for data set refreshes could be faster to enhance the user experience."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It started out at about $600 a seat. However, then as we started to grow, it scaled that down to about $330 or 3$50 a seat, if I'm not mistaken."
"The pricing differs from customer to customer, depending on the package."
"I think it is reasonable."
"The price that they offered was around $200 per user license. It was pretty cheap at that time compared to other companies. I think they have revamped their pricing structure since then."
"The solution is expensive compared to one of its competitors."
"For about 100 users our cost is $95,800."
"I'm not sure about pricing, but I believe Domo is quite costly. Prior to joining this organization, I had a Domo license with my former employer and I think that license was around $500 to $600 annually. That was for a single license. I think it varies, depending on the organization that is acquiring Domo."
"We are making money from Domo, and all our clients are happy with the information that they receive from it."
"Oracle products are always going to be on the higher end of your price scale. You have to kind of accept that going in."
"The solution's pricing is reasonable compared to other products."
