A solid product for security, but the MSP program should be simpler
Their MSP program should be made much more simple. It's too convoluted in its process. They have two different kinds of people that sell their product. They have resellers and MSPs. A reseller would just be a company going and saying that I need licenses, and that in turn goes to eSentire, which then goes to the customer, and they do the transaction. We were on the MSP side. We were the ones who took a potential customer to eSentire, and we were the ones who closed the deals. We were the ones who went through everything, and in the end, it was just a notice saying that let's spin up a new tenant. That's the kind of difference we're talking about. From my standpoint, their MSP program, in general, needed to be worked on. It should be made much more simple. It's too convoluted in its process. I know it was in the process of being revamped, and as of the end of January, it was not finished. That was the last contact I had with eSentire, but I know that, at this point of the year, they were supposed to have rolled that new MSP program out to take care of all of the negative things. They were going through that process and making it much better. Once they get that implemented, they will be a good, solid vendor.

Effective integration and threat hunting capabilities boost operational ease, but interface improvements are needed
I would like to improve the dashboard in SentinelOne Singularity MDR, as it could be much better, along with the reporting structure. The granularity of policies and ease of policy management from the console could be made better, while my experience from a feature standpoint has been good overall. Regarding summary reports provided from SentinelOne Singularity MDR, I find the reporting structure could be much better in terms of granularity. Additionally, for C-suite executives, there can be more non-technical content that provides a bird's eye view of organizational risk posture, rather than just detailed technical analyses. This high-level perspective on the organization's risk would be highly beneficial at the management level.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The Managed Detection and Response (MDR) feature was really good and most valuable. We were handling very sensitive data, and we needed a quick response in real-time, which eSentire provided. It was also cost-effective, and their SOC team was very responsive."
"Being able to sleep well at night knowing that eSentire is guarding everything that goes in and out of your network was also a good ROI."
"The managed detection response (MDR) product was the most valuable."
"The initial setup process was straightforward, and deployment can take approximately half a day, depending on the company's size."
"In our company, we use SentinelOne Vigilance for security purposes. We not only use it to detect viruses but also to monitor any activities on the endpoints so that we can take appropriate measures to mitigate any potential threats."
"The most valuable feature is that it works and isn't compromised. Other solutions I have used have all been compromised and SentinelOne is the only one that hasn't been compromised as far as I understand."
"The rollback feature offered by the product is good."
"SentinelOne has a rollback feature that has helped them gain popularity in the market. No other competitors of the solution including Cisco, Fortinet, or Cortex XDR have this feature. SentinelOne is a kernel-independent solution. We don’t need to check the kernel dependency on the Linux platform. They also commit to a 100 percent recovery from ransomware attacks. The solution has rollback features for ransomware on Windows."
"SentinelOne Vigilance is an endpoint security tool with quarantining, dashboards showing us information, and many capabilities like manual and automatic quarantine of environmental issues."
"SentinelOne Vigilance is a very stable solution."
"The most valuable feature is that it works and is reliable."

Cons

"Its GUI can be a lot better."
"Its GUI can be a lot better."

"SentinelOne Vigilance could improve if it provided us with more control over the dashboard."
"I have found issues with the solution’s stability and implementation. The solution has performance issues. I would like the solution to launch the rollback plan for ransomware on Linux and Mac. It should be something similar to the support that Windows gets."
"When upgrades are required on the server, you need to almost remove SentinelOne Vigilance completely off the system. We put SentinelOne Vigilance on silence for the monitor mode, but we were having trouble upgrading the server. I had to remove SentinelOne Vigilance completely from the server, but that meant that all the previous logs of attacks I wanted to look at on the server were gone. This is one thing they need to improve, they need better compatibility with the Microsoft Windows service. I should not have to remove the agent completely to upgrade the service."
"My only complaint is that the knowledge base is not accessible to the customer."
"SentinelOne Vigilance doesn't actively monitor incoming emails or offer an email plugin for Outlook."
"My only complaint is that the knowledge base is not accessible to the customer."
"The only thing I'm not sure about is I haven't deployed it on any mobile devices."
"I suspect that the areas for improvement may not necessarily lie within the tool itself but rather in our organization's lack of knowledge and understanding of cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is a complex area, and our organization has a skill set deficit. Therefore, we rely on our cybersecurity support company to help us manage the tool and handle incidents. Our limited expertise sometimes prevents us from fully utilizing them or identifying potential gaps."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It was cost-effective and not very expensive. Licensing was on a yearly basis. There were no additional costs to the standard licensing fee."
"The MSP model we were in needed some work. It was not MSP-friendly, which means that an MSP is going to say that I have five thousand endpoints that I will eventually get to you, but for now, we're gonna start moving and let me purchase a thousand. So, you buy a thousand licenses, and you ramp up to that thousand. When you're ready to move on, you buy the next how many. That's the way an MSP likes to work, whereas it was a little bit different with eSentire. You had to purchase specific amounts for specific customers. It wasn't very friendly when it came to pricing for MSPs."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten."
"I rate the solution's pricing a five out of ten since it is a very highly-priced solution."
"The licensing cost depends on the number of connected devices and whether you purchase additional services."
"I give the cost a three out of ten."
"The tool's pricing is slightly cheaper than other alternatives. It's not just about licensing costs; because we already have it implemented, we can save money on deployment and initial setup. Additionally, SentinelOne Vigilance is slightly cheaper in licensing, maybe around 10-15 percent cheaper."
"The solution’s pricing is very reasonable."
"I rate the product's pricing an eight out of ten since it is really expensive, but it is well worth what my company gets."
"SentinelOne Vigilance is priced in a normal range."
