encryption works well but needs a fix for compatibility with the latest Windows version
I have used it in the past because it works quite well for encryption. It's better than trying to just use BitLocker, which is a pain from a management standpoint. It works up to this point. My issue is that I need to roll it out on new machines, and I can't get the application to work correctly. It's encrypted at rest, so I can't use the data if I'm not logged in correctly into the laptop with the correct user credentials.

Easy installation and maintenance have improved data security with two-way encryption
I don't see any area for improvement in Sophos SafeGuard. Sophos SafeGuard doesn't have on-premises solutions; it's completely available on the cloud only. It's on a public cloud; they don't have any other deployment models, just their own lease. We are not properly aware if they are using AWS or Microsoft Azure since Sophos employs their own cloud solution, which I think is Amazon. AI is not integrated into Sophos SafeGuard; AI is available in EDR and XDR. AI is not required for this product; it is only focused on key management which they already manage well in other products. The overall rating for the product is a ten out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The setup is getting easier."
"The Remote Administrator is the most valuable feature that ESET offers for us. Centralized management of our ESET environment is what I like about the Remote Administrator."
"The product is easy to implement and configure."
"The initial setup is easy."
"The tool does not slow down the computer."
"I have used it in the past because it works quite well for encryption."
"The most valuable feature of ESET Endpoint Encryption is its rate of capturing viruses and malware."
"This solution can be centrally managed."
"The product features we find most effective are web filtering and VPN functionalities."
"Compared to the potential loss if a breach occurred, the little higher investment is worth protecting data."
"What I love most about Sophos SafeGuard is its user-friendly interface. My company has another software with a complex user interface versus Sophos SafeGuard, which is extremely easy to use."
"It is seamless and easy to install. We haven't encountered any recent issues."
"I like its ease of use the most. The management console is really nice. I like having one pane of glass that does everything. It does the Sophos anti-virus and encryption. Everything that you need is in one place. It is easy to use, and it is also pretty fast. It provides some pretty good details, and it lets you know who has access to a file. You can also add additional people to the encrypted documents, which is pretty good. Its stability and performance are also very good."
"The Intercept X feature is the most valuable feature. You can't find this feature in other firewalls because Intercept X works as if it has an interaction between the endpoint and the firewall."
"With Sophos, I only need to generate the password and give that to a user to be able to allow them to login to the admin page of the Endpoint and do whatever they need to do. The user cannot go ahead and uninstall it. It's kept us much more secure because of this. Should any event happen on a particular system, I'm given the username and the system IP address. I get notifications and can deal with issues right away."
"The platform has significantly enhanced our data security posture by ensuring that sensitive information remains encrypted and protected from unauthorized access."

Cons

"The overall compatibility of the device is an area where the solution lacks."
"The initial setup could be made easier."
"From an admin perspective, the solution's UI could be more user-friendly."
"There should be more frequent updates."
"Integration with central management needs improvement."
"Sometimes the server console is very slow, so the performance could be improved."
"My problem is that there's a technical glitch and they don't have a fix for it. It's not working with the latest version of Windows, which is a problem."
"I would like more robust reporting as part of the Remote Administrator."
"The dashboards lack sufficient information."
"The product's initial setup process could be easier to understand for new users."
"The focus should be on making things automated ."
"Technical support could be a bit better."
"It just needs a little bit more on the reporting side. Its reporting can be improved a little bit in terms of being able to know that things are in the right status. I should be able to pull a report to make sure that everything is all right. It could also have cloud integration. At the time I was using it, it wasn't a cloud product."
"You have to pay extra for some additional features, like data extraction. It would be nice if everything was available in one bundle."
"The product's next release could have integration features with different internal and external systems."
"There's no centralized management. This is a drawback."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"ESET Endpoint Encryption is moderately priced."
"We paid for an annual subscription, and it was reasonable."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is the lowest and ten is the highest, I rate its pricing a two."
"Licensing costs are on a yearly basis."
"Instead of installing ESET on each machine at each location, we just do it remotely. This has been a time saver for us."
"It is neither very expensive, nor cheap. Overall it is affordable and there is a long term arrangement between our company and the solution providers for license."
"There are some inexpensive products compared to ESET Endpoint Encryption, but they lack the essential features."
"The National University System dedicates 500 of their 5000 licenses to us, which is $14/yr per device. Most companies are paying $99 or $120 per device a year."
"We have a yearly license with Sophos which is around $1000-$1200 or so per annum. There are no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"Pricing for Sophos SafeGuard should be transparent. If you want to get support for Sophos SafeGuard, you don't get pricing information about support costs, and in the end, you'll get charged more."
"Regarding pricing, it's a middle-priced solution. We typically use Sophos SafeGuard with the Sophos firewall, which includes VPN connections. The cost depends on the number of users, with some customers requiring hundreds of connections and others needing around a thousand."
"The licensing costs depend on the series. For example, XG 85 can be around $200. If you go to ACC or to a four or five-year enterprise solution, you will find these devices can cost $10,000. It depends on the series."
"I rate the pricing two or three on a scale of one to ten, where one is expensive, and ten is cheap."
"Licensing is on a yearly basis and the pricing could be better."
"I rate the product price a six on a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price."
