A backup solution that offers very good integration at a good price

Integrated security features ensure seamless protection and inspire long-term trust
The reason why I went for Sophos SafeGuard is that it's got every function that I would need for an antivirus or system protection, and another thing that Sophos has done that makes it even more important for me is the synchronized security. There is a policy on my firewall that restricts any system that synchronizes with the endpoint working on all my servers and workstations, and if any system is found to be infected, because it synchronizes with the firewall, the rules drop the packet and alert the IT administrator. Until that system is checked and cleaned, there is no internet access for that system, which alone is a game changer for me. Those developers at Sophos are very innovative, and I don't think they need to improve anything because they are thousands of steps ahead. Before I can think of any feature that should be added, it's already there, and all I get is just a notification that this feature is available, to give it a try and let them know if it is something I want to add. You must understand that every feature comes with a price, not for free. The more features I add, the additions are based on the need; if it's not needed, I am not going to add them.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The integration features are the most valuable, as the integration is specific to each solution and works well with SQL and Oracle databases and so on."
"Technical support is top-notch."
"The solution offers very good performance and the user interface is simple, which makes it very easy to use."
"With Sophos, I only need to generate the password and give that to a user to be able to allow them to login to the admin page of the Endpoint and do whatever they need to do. The user cannot go ahead and uninstall it. It's kept us much more secure because of this. Should any event happen on a particular system, I'm given the username and the system IP address. I get notifications and can deal with issues right away."
"The solution has a great VPN."
"It's easy to use; you have to pay extra for additional features, but the basic product is fantastic and will be a good solution for you, depending on your requirements."
"The overall rating for the product is a ten out of ten."
"Compared to the potential loss if a breach occurred, the little higher investment is worth protecting data."
"The Intercept X feature is the most valuable feature. You can't find this feature in other firewalls because Intercept X works as if it has an interaction between the endpoint and the firewall."
"The solution can block a virus attack and prevent it from moving across the system."

Cons

"On the exchange server, you do not have the best options for adjusting your mailbox. This feature is not included. Also, disaster recovery backups can be improved. Some other solutions, such as HP Data Protector, have more features."
"Nonetheless, one thing they could do better on is knowledge and education about it."
"BitLocker comes from the OS license with Windows. It's a free solution. However, Sophos is a product we need to pay for."
"Once you lock a server, you won't be able to install or put something on that particular server, but on the PC or machines, the lockdown feature is not there, and it is a query our company raised when we had to provide details for Sophos' review."
"When you compare Sophos SafeGuard to Palo Alto and other enterprise firewalls solutions, Sophos doesn't have the same market."
"I cannot think of any improvements right now."
"Sometimes, when the product has a firmware upgrade, we encounter implementation problems, which can delay the connection and require a reset and reinstallation. It has been a persistent issue with Sophos SafeGuard."
"From version eight, Windows 8 onwards, SafeGuard doesn't work 100% of the time, so we have to use BitLocker for the encrypting and only the key management is done by SafeGuard."
"The cost is rather expensive. It's a pain point for many clients. They should work to see if they can reduce pricing."
"The solution lacks connectivity to Azure AD so it can connect to the regular internal Windows AD server but there's no direct connection to Azure AD."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The licensing costs depend on the series. For example, XG 85 can be around $200. If you go to ACC or to a four or five-year enterprise solution, you will find these devices can cost $10,000. It depends on the series."
"We pay around $10 a year for each endpoint, including support."
"The pricing is good and now they offer three year and five year plans. After that if one lokes the service they can choose the lifetime service."
"The licenses are dependant on the number of users and computers you have to protect."
"We used it for three years. It costs about 1000 ZAR. Maintenance was part of it, so we don't have extra cost. On a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price and ten is a high price, I rate the solution's pricing a three."
"Licensing is on a yearly basis and the pricing could be better."
"I rate the pricing two or three on a scale of one to ten, where one is expensive, and ten is cheap."
"The pricing is reasonable."
