Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Cloud-based protection has simplified daily client support and keeps threats under control
The problems that we are facing with policy adoption include slow adoption, as it takes more than five minutes to adopt policy on client computers. ESET Network Attack Protection sometimes helps in reducing network-level intrusions, but sometimes it prevents local devices on the network, which are well-known and good devices, from being recognized, treating them as a threat. So it requires more administration than usual. ESET could implement a good solution for remote support in ESET Endpoint Protection Platform for improvement in the future. Since you have the cloud console, ESET could have something similar to AnyDesk or TeamViewer, but from ESET.

Exceptional malware protection with regular updates and behavior-based detection
There are no built-in backups or integrated backup options, which could be an opportunity. The free version is effective, however, the paid version is pricey compared to it. Other customers have mentioned issues with false positives. It lacks enterprise-level management and more enterprise functionality. CrowdStrike and SentinelOne are much more enterprise-grade solutions. Malwarebytes has limited integration with cybersecurity tools and lacks enterprise integrations because it is not an enterprise product.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Cortex is the best tool for endpoint detection, with playbooks that automate and gather endpoint logs, block malicious processes, and update incident tickets, showcasing end-to-end processes with automation in investigation and reducing the analysis workflow."
"It can automatically correlate events and logs, which is very helpful for an IT administrator. It can correlate different kinds of malware activities over a network, agent, or host system. You do not need to do it manually. It is a good feature. It is also a user-friendly solution. We have deployed it on the cloud because our space does not provide any flexibility for on-premises deployment, but Palo Alto has added some flexibility to install it on-premises. It must be like the same Cortex XDR agent for all the VPN services, web filtering services, and everything else."
"It blocks malicious files. It prevents attacks. It doesn't require many updates, it's a very light application."
"If you are looking to deploy a security solution as a whole, this is a good option."
"Stability is a primary factor, and then there's the ease of distribution and policy management."
"Palo Alto is the core of the security infrastructure in the environment."
"The solution doesn't need a high level of technical training."
"We switched because there were a lot of added features with Palo Alto that Check Point didn't have, and it was an upgrade for us."
"The stability is great."
"This is a product at the top of its game. That is the reason we choose to support and sell it."
"It is pretty easy to deploy. Its update definition file is small, so it can dispatch very quickly within the enterprise. The product itself is very lightweight, so it won't delay your endpoint. You also don't have to do any difficult configuration because it comes with a very good default setting. So, you just install it and forget it."
"If you're serious about endpoint security then this is the only product you will need because it's a one-stop solution."
"Installing and integrating ESET Endpoint Antivirus was easy. It prevents worms, malware, and Trojans."
"Technical support has been very good. They're quick to respond to any problems."
"The solution is stable."
"The primary purpose is to protect computers from viruses and ransomware."
"The technical support services are good."
"Being able to cloud manage it from just a cloud login is valuable. We can get to it from anywhere, which is really helpful. The fact that we can remediate from the cloud console is one of our favorite features."
"It allows us to have better knowledge of the way people use the tool and how we can improve their workflows."
"The solution has a good management interface."
"The endpoint protection and response that allows us to restore a machine back to a pre-infected state are the most valuable features."
"The solution is very good at scanning; it's a good product, it does the job, it offers good protection, and I haven't come across any issues so far which I need to escalate."
"I commonly recommend Malwarebytes to people due to the fact that I find it quite reliable."
"Ten times a day, improved signatures will be downloaded, so it is very up-to-date in terms of malware experience."

Cons

"The solution eats memory of the computer, unlike anything I've ever seen."
"We would also like to have advanced tech protection and email scanning."
"It is not a suitable solution if you are looking for a single product with multiple features such as DLP, encryption, rollback, etc."
"There are some third-party solutions that are difficult to integrate with, which is something that can be improved."
"There is a severe gap in functionality between Windows, Linux, and Mac versions. For example all folder restriction settings are Windows only. Traps 5.0+ does not have SAML / LDAP integration."
"There are some false positives. What our guys would have liked is that it would have been easier to manipulate as soon as they found a false positive that they knew was a false positive. How to do so was not obvious. Some people complained about it. The interface, the ESM, is not user-friendly."
"We have found that there are times Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks does not detect some of the viruses, we have to use another protection solution called Kaspersky."
"The solution should add unwanted malicious hash values to a block list so that whenever the action is triggered, it will automatically prevent the malicious content."
"The detection could be better in ESET Endpoint Security. Sometimes it takes time to detect threats and might be because it's not holding all the memory."
"I think the product support is very bad."
"The feature is somewhat lacking in security protection."
"The solution lacks the automation I need."
"The solution includes only Intrusion Detection and not IPS, which is an important feature that is missing in my version."
"It can be hard to set up if you need to customize it."
"While we see dangers within our security system, it would help if there were popups that could immediately alert us or the user of the endpoint that something was detected."
"The solution should offer more security surrounding blacklisted websites."
"They should make it faster, less taxing on the processor."
"Malwarebytes should improve its mobile compatibility."
"We have noticed that when the solution is doing the scanning, all the scanning activities make the device heavier. It slows down your machine."
"I would like to see integration with other vendors going forward."
"This solution reports far too many false positives!"
"It is one of the worst products which I have ever used."
"We have noticed that when the solution is doing the scanning, all the scanning activities make the device heavier. It slows down your machine."
"Every once in a while, the product gets clobbered. It's not just one thing. So, it could be a Microsoft update or a Kaspersky update."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The return on investment is from the user side because we have seen the performance of it increase the delivery time of the product if we are using too many web-based and on-premise applications. In indirect ways, we saw the return of investment in terms of performance and user satisfaction increase."
"Very costly product."
"The solution is expensive. It's pricing is on a yearly-basis."
"It is "expensive" and flexible."
"It has a higher cost than other solutions, like CrowdStrike or Microsoft’s EDR tools, but it reduces the cost of our operations because it’s a new generation antivirus tool."
"Our license will require renewal in August, after which the maintenance will continue as usual."
"Cortex XDR’s pricing is very reasonable."
"The price of the product is not very economical."
"The cost is a very reasonable. When compared with other products, the price is low (though not very low)."
"I pay about $100 a year, so it's really cheap. I'm sure that if I need something else beyond more technical support, I'll need to pay more."
"The price could be a little lower."
"The price is okay and I don't have any issues with it."
"This solution is a good value for the money."
"Currently, we are running on a three-year license. The pricing might be around $20,000. There aren't any costs above the standard licensing fee."
"The price of the solution is reasonable compared to competitors."
"Pricing for ESET Endpoint Security could be lower because here in Hungary, it's expensive."
"The licensing is per seat, with clients being a little less expensive than servers. If we need more licenses, we can accomplish that within a day. As Malwarebytes adds new features to their product, such as DNS filtering and a patching module, they want to charge us more even though we're a premium user, which isn't ideal."
"Its licensing is annual. There are no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee."
"Its cost is around $60 a machine. The cost of the total solution for 250 people is about $8,500 a year. If we add EDR to it, it will bring that cost up to about $15,000. The cost for Carbon Black is about $25,000, which is $10,000 more, but you get all AI functions with it."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price and ten is a high price, I rate the product's pricing a seven."
"I believe the retail price is between $40 and $50 per copy."
"I rate the tool's pricing a five out of ten."
"It is expensive."
"The price of Malwarebytes is in the middle range compared to other vendors."
