Supports secure remote authentication and provides comprehensive user activity tracking
The most important feature is the security capability because it provides a substantial amount of security for admin-related activities. Fortinet FortiAuthenticator can be used from anywhere in the world, and the authenticator services function globally. This global accessibility is one of the critical advantages, particularly since admin features are critical and security is a real concern. With Fortinet FortiAuthenticator, secure usage of firewall services and related functions is achieved. A complete log of all users who access the authenticator setup is maintained. Monthly logs are reviewed to check for any unnoticed activities. Each authenticated user's complete activity history is recorded. This logging capability allows for providing access to more admin users while ensuring security is not compromised and all users can be monitored.

Gives us everything we need to ensure that our customers have a safe and reliable authentication system
It would be nice to have a export button to file with all tenants/users so that in case of a disaster we will have the option to restore the users from file. For security certifications, we need to make sure we can restore all of our products and data in minimal time. We are backing up the data using the API but it will be better to export everything to an external file so in case of a disaster or mistake from our side, we can have the option to reload all the users and assign them to the relevant tenant as fast as possible

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The tool's most valuable features are push notifications and integration with the FortiGate firewall. Push notifications provide an instant acceptance mechanism. When customers try to access SSL VPN, the solution sends a push notification to their mobile phone, and they can easily approve the access. The integration with FortiGate firewall is very easy if our customers use FortiGate for their firewall."
"The solution is simple to deploy, simple to use, and user-friendly."
"The feature that I have found most valuable is the fact that you can utilize your tokens across the whole Fortinet fabric once you have the FortiAuthenticator."
"The implementation has significantly improved access management within our organization."
"FortiAuthenticator has made our operations secure."
"FortiAuthenticator is a very good solution. It is all jury-based. FortiAuthenticator is very easy for anyone to understand how it works and be able to take action."
"Enables easy integration, allowing for 2FA with our VPN."
"If you want a more efficient way to manage two-factor authentication for your users, or implement the unit as a cluster member role, the FortiAuthenticator can be incorporated very well into your environment."
"We like the SSO, permissions and roles, multiple workspaces, and react login components."
"Every feature is multi-tenant by design, making different customer requests effortless to provide."
"Frontegg's solution fits us very well, as it removes the extra work of developing, maintaining, storing, and securing all of the user-management platforms."
"The MFA policy via Frontegg allows us to enable/disable/enforce the Multi-Factor Authentication policy of our users and to enhance security and adhere to modern standards."
"SaaS companies like ours can just focus on what matters and not spend time on building SaaS essentials such as audit logs, SSO etc."
"The admin portal layer is super useful and saves valuable front-end development time."
"It has Audit Log and many cool features that if we were to develop them by ourselves, it would require a lot of research and development resources. Frontegg gives us everything we need to ensure that our customers have a safe and reliable authentication system in which they can also manage some of the features and roles by themself which gives them more control over their environment."
"Their developers were always willing to meet even though we are in very different time zones."

Cons

"I would like to see more integration and inclusion of features for ransomware protection directly within the FortiAuthenticator without requiring additional devices."
"The technical support team is bad."
"For improvement, Fortinet needs to ensure that they provide quick support to users...Fortinet sometimes needs to respond to users facing issues within an hour."
"Fortinet FortiAuthenticator's initial setup process could be easier."
"They could expand FortiAuthenticator's capabilities to accommodate a broader range of environments."
"Regarding Fortinet technical support, I would say a six. Most of the time, the engineer will take time, such as 24 hours or 48 hours, maybe even more, because most of the time, they appear, gather the logs, and then disappear."
"If you want some other FortiAuthenticator from one site to another site, you should have requirements, but really if you have authentication and directory or another solution, you should change the password of the authenticator between the solution and the directory and other things. So transfer of data and other information should be simpler."
"I think the tool could provide this solution on the cloud."
"The web interface is missing a way to delete a workspace. I have accidentally created a workspace and was not able to delete it. It's a minor thing that should be supported."
"The PHP SDK is limited. It's not a huge deal as we can just use their web API directly, but it is something to note if you're using PHP.‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎"
"Frontegg is fairly stable, however, we are looking forward to some promised capabilities, such as more tightly integrated Feature Flag support."
"We're hoping to see more user management-related features, according to Frontegg's roadmap."
"The PHP SDK is limited."
"It would be nice to have a export button to file with all tenants/users so that in case of a disaster we will have the option to restore the users from file."
"We really like the ability to add the same user across tenants. From a UX perspective, the flow can be betterized."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing structure is cost-effective for us compared to some of the other solutions that have recurring monthly costs."
"I price of the solution is expensive."
"The platform provides a user-based pricing model rather than a subscription pricing model."
"I rate the price of Fortinet FortiAuthenticator a three out of five."
"The product has affordable pricing compared to other vendors."
"I would start off with a VM including the base license and scale according to the number of users you need to authenticate."
"The cost of the license could be less expensive. The license is paid on a yearly basis."
"FAC is an affordable solution for Middle Range (200E/400E) and also needs a package of mobility agents (2,000) perpetual."
