Setup is straightforward from a business user standpoint but MAQL needs to be easier.
Cloud connect Report generator MAQL needs to be easier Better row-level security for end-users I've used it for nine months, mainly for implementation and delivery to customers. No issues encountered. No issues encountered. When the source is big and/or the source is Netsuite there are…

I am quite satisfied with the reporting part of the product. However, compared to other tools, the modeling part is not as strong. Data modeling is not as easy on MicroStrategy as it is on other platforms. I have worked with the administration tool and the Architect tool for MicroStrategy, but creating a star schema is not as easy compared to other tools. Creating hierarchies and the modeling part is challenging because data modeling is one of the most important aspects of any BI project. If you can create a star schema or Snowflake schema easily, then report building becomes straightforward. Additionally, MicroStrategy's Workstation tool compared to Developer still lacks some functionality that can be done more easily on the Developer side. Workstation is a great tool, but they have not given it full functionality.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's a good product for your end to end BI needs when its all on the cloud."
"The ability to integrate with PPT is another plus. The platform's ability to write back data directly to the database is also good."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to build reports, then customize for different groups instead of having to build multiple reports. Therefore, the ability to build customization in the reports for different groups."
"I like the user interface and the experience has been great."
"Saves time and empowers business users."
"Getting more data to people more quickly. Providing more flexibility for how they use the data."
"The simplicity of MicroStrategy is what I like the most."
"Technical support is knowledgeable. The right person gets back to us whenever we email them."
"As the licensing cost is, relatively, not high, it provides great ROI."

Cons

"When the source is big and/or the source is Netsuite there are issues."
"The design process of the mobile dashboard development. Now, MicroStrategy's mobile dashboard is still not a RESTful design, which means we need to design a different layout according to the device's screen size."
"I would like to see a feature where migrations are easier. When you migrate from certain environments, it could probably be a little cleaner. Sometimes it seems to be somewhat clunky when you migrate from one environment, say a development to a test or production environment."
"The default color pallets could be improved, and they are improving with each version."
"If they can make it more stable, in terms of the connectivity, that would help."
"The administration of automatic email reports is not very good. It has to be improved in a more easily and effective way, with the same license."
"MicroStrategy has a steep learning curve and you need to spend time in training before you can use the full potential."
"There is room for improvement in data visualization."
"Regarding the tickets, I would give the response to them a lukewarm rating."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"We have a license with packages, and there are additional costs for extra components."
"We have one of the best pricing available, but we can't disclose that information."
"It is expensive. We would like to extend it to many users, but we are currently restricting that because the cost is a constraint. If we are given a chance, we would love to expand it."
"The pricing is fair."
"The pricing list itself is not publicly accessible, so it's a bit opaque."
"There is no subscription, I am using the free version."
"Additional costs are associated with maintenance."
"MicroStrategy's licensing cost is higher than that of other tools in the market. My company uses the enterprise edition of the product."
