Beneficial AI detection, helpful support, but modern UI needed
The initial setup of the Hillstone I-Series Server Breach Detection System requires a bunch of steps starting with installing the hardware and setting it up. However, most of the setup is done by the vendor. I rate the initial setup of the Hillstone I-Series Server Breach Detection System an eight out of ten. The vendor provides free training in the software provided.

Have managed daily asset and alert monitoring effectively but have encountered limitations with manual processes and interface usability
It's still very manual and doesn't work on its own. It's still in an early stage and not on par where we can consider it a really successful detection system. The accuracy is not there. The UI could be better when compared to Sentinels where we can use flags and tagging. It could be much more user-friendly. IBM Security QRadar has all features and is fully competitive with other SIEM tools, but when it comes to user-friendliness, a new user takes time to get used to it. More intuitive, user-friendly interfaces and more helpful documentation would be beneficial. The query searching and data fetching could be faster. In large to very large organizations with around 5,000 or 6,000 assets or beyond, even with proper configurations and RAM and hardware backing up, the query is fairly slow.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One or two people can maintain and support the solution. The maintenance is not difficult."
"The most valuable features of the Hillstone I-Series Server Breach Detection System are the AI detection and monitoring of common threats."
"We can easily monitor many things using this tool."
"I have found its network traffic log, network bit log, and QBI most valuable."
"It has improved comprehensive visibility for what is going on in the perimeters, and on the inside, as well."
"This platform can collect and normalize data better than just about anything (if you want it to), but it will not be useful if it is not presented in a useful way."
"The main tool for this operation center for collecting events from different devices, whatever server or network devices, such as switches and routers, it handles anything related to data that can be harmful related to security."
"We chose IBM because it has a lot of power, and you can grow it as much as and however you want it to."
"These features are keeping QRadar on top in Gartner."
"The most valuable thing about QRadar is that you have a single window into your network, SIEM, network flows, and risk management of your assets. If you use Splunk, for instance, then you still need a full packet capture solution, whereas the full packet capture solution is integrated within QRadar. Its application ecosystem makes it very powerful in terms of doing analysis."

Cons

"The UI dashboard view needs to be improved because it is ugly. If it was more modern it would be better. Additionally, better integration with other databases would be good."
"Hillstone I-Series Server Breach Detection System can improve by having more anti-spam features that will hopefully eliminate all of the other threats."
"We need more features in order to create rules to detect or to meet some requirements for other areas, for example, catching the event from other authentication tools."
"We're a little concerned about the latest version and the fact that it cannot be upgraded, that it requires a clean install."
"GUI needs to be improved."
"However, when it comes to IBM, they consider each module as a separate license with a separate cost."
"I need a solution which will send alerts in the event of any behavior."
"Its architecture is very complicated."
"The initial technical support to call is less than adequate."
"We were very disappointed."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of the solution is good. It is less expensive than the other solutions in the market. There are not any additional features or hidden costs."
"The maintenance costs are high."
"An X-Force feed is free with QRadar."
"The solution is costly and the price differs depending on the vendor you use."
"Most of the time, it is easier and cheaper to buy a new product or the QRadar box."
"There are different types of subscriptions available. We were on an annual subscription, but our customers typically choose the two years subscription option."
"We pay approximately $40,000 to use the solution annually. This solution is a lot less expensive than Splunk."
"It is expensive. It is not a product that I can provide for SMBs. It is a program that I can only provide for really large enterprises."
"This price is a little high, so it's an expensive product."
