User-friendly, easy to manage, with good support
We use HiT Software DBMoto for migration and reporting The most valuable features are that is easy to install and it is user-friendly. Pricing is an area that needs improvement. We started to use this product a year ago. It's a stable solution. We have not experienced any issues. It's a…

Has supported complex data pipeline creation but performance tuning and monitoring responsiveness need improvement
Sometimes, I see various performance issues with Informatica PowerCenter, including caching concerns, whether it's a joiner transformation or other transformations, so I believe the team can enhance the performance perspectives of these transformations. Additionally, sometimes the Informatica Monitor hangs or takes time to open the current run or logs, which the team can also look into. Informatica is transitioning to cloud solutions and discontinuing on-premise support after 2026, so when we discuss Informatica Cloud and its support, it becomes quite expensive for the organization compared to peers such as SnapLogic or Netezza, which offer lower pricing. Informatica Cloud Intelligence's pricing is notably high.

Pros

"DBMoto was very simple to set up and move our tables to the Oracle DB."
"It's a good product that is user-friendly and easy to manage, and I would recommend it to others."
"DBMoto was very simple to set up and move our tables to the Oracle DB."
"The most valuable features are that is easy to install and it is user-friendly."
"Enterprise-scale ETL solution that's very stable and is easy to scale. It integrates and connects with multiple new systems, both structured and semi-structured."
"The technical design developed in Excel can be directly imported into Powercenter using Powercenter Repository Manager and the corresponding mapping is automatically created."
"Complex transformations can be easily achieved by using PowerCenter. The processing layer does transformations and other things. About 80% of my transformations can be achieved by using the middle layer. For the remaining 15% to 20% transformations, I can go in and create stored procedures in the respective databases. Mapplets is the feature through which we can reuse transformations across pipelines. Transformations and caching are the key features that we have been using frequently. Informatica PowerCenter is one of the best solutions or products in the data integration space. We have extensively used PowerCenter for integration purposes. We usually look at the best bridge solution in our architecture so that it can sustain for maybe a couple of years. Usually, we go with the solution that fits best and has proven and time-tested technology."
"Real time is amazing; if you have AI use cases, you can predict if it's a threat or if it's a positive or negative transaction."
"Deployment was simple and straightforward."
"Once you have learned Informatica, it is very easy to use."
"The setup is very simple."
"Informatica PowerCenter is a scalable solution; expanding is easy, and we can execute multiple workflows based on events, and I don't see any constraints, and it looks pretty good."

Cons

"This product would be improved with additional built-in functions for simpler date conversion, as well as for data type transformations."
"Pricing is an area that needs improvement."
"Pricing is an area that needs improvement."
"This product would be improved with additional built-in functions for simpler date conversion, as well as for data type transformations."
"We need another tool for monitoring. It would be easier if all the features were consolidated into one tool."
"The cloud-based solution mostly focuses on continuous data stream processing, but not on batch processing."
"The cost and set up of the licenses could be improved. You need a lot of different licenses, depending on your setup, and it gets expensive."
"Now they are migrating to a new version, and they have something that is called Informatica Developer. Previously, they just had PowerCenter. Now, when they move everything to Informatica Developer it's not as good or stable like it was when it was PowerCenter, though it has some nice features. This Developer tool could be better."
"The reputation of Informatica is that it is expensive."
"The initial setup is not straightforward. You need expertise to do it."
"The pricing of Informatica PowerCenter is somewhat high compared to other tools that provide almost the same features, and there are some advanced tools in the market right now."
"I would like to see it be able to import data from NoSQL."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Customers pay a license fee yearly."
"I found the price to be quite reasonable."
"The solution is in the middle price range compared to other solutions."
"The price of this solution is high."
"It's much more expensive, almost three times more expensive than most other solutions."
"It is for big enterprises. We have leveraged Informatica for big enterprises but not for small and medium enterprises because it is a very costly product as compared to other products. We propose this solution only for enterprise customers. For small to medium enterprises, we would propose the Microsoft solution. Its licensing is currently bundle-wise. It should be features-wise and not bundle-wise."
"The pricing for Informatica PowerCenter is expensive. Some clients have simple needs and only want to integrate and store data. Some clients have small needs, while some clients have bigger needs and focus more on performance and time. The licensing cost for Informatica PowerCenter isn't good. In my project, if I remember correctly, the company pays €20,000 per year for the Informatica PowerCenter license. I'm not aware of additional costs that you need to pay for some features of the solution. On a scale of one to five, I'm rating its price a three."
"Cost could be improved."
"The license model is CPU based."
"Licensing is a one time cost. But maintenance costs depend on what you want, how long you need it. Maintenance is a kind of insurance. With health insurance, you don't know whether you will get sick or need to go to hospital or not but you have to have insurance. It's the same thing with support. If you have that expertise in resolving issues, if you have enough experience in your IT department, I would say you don't need the support. But in practice, they recommend you go with the support. If you want support you have to pay for it."
