Azure Data Factory is flexible, modular, and works well. In terms of cost, it is not too pricey. It offers the stability and reliability I am looking for, good scalability, and is easy to set up and maintain. Overall, I am impressed with its architecture.
However, I am not so thrilled with the service and technical support I have received so far. One huge disappointment for me with Azure Data Factory is that it lacks seamless connectivity, especially related to SAP. (If you are using Oracle it's not as much of an issue).
Besides for that it has been efficient, fast and easy to use. Of all its features, Azure’s data factory feature is the most valuable to me. It also stands out as a solid product for data transformation and data loading. I also like the interface and it has proven to have good performance so far.
With Informatica PowerCenter, I feel like there is a learning curve - but once you learn how to use it, it's easy. One advantage is that it requires fewer required resources in the case that the systems get migrated or updated.
For me, the fact that Informatica has multiple interfaces seems to add more confusion than necessary and makes for a complicated user experience. It is also problematic for me that I cannot use it to import data from NoSQL. In addition, I feel like the documentation has room for improvement. I also find it bothersome that with Informatica you need another tool for monitoring and it would be better if this feature was available.
Conclusion:
Personally, I would recommend Azure Data Factory instead of Informatica PowerCenter because I think overall it is a much better product choice. It is easy to implement whereas other tools often require specialized skills, partners, or IT teams to come and implement them for you. I also like that Azure is an affordable option.
