Responsive support, requires little maintenance, but configuration could be easier
Hitachi ID Privileged Access Manager is cumbersome and it does not operate by itself and relies on other solutions. Overall the way you configure things is a bit awkward compared to other solutions, such as Cyberark and Thycotic. The interface could be more intuitive, some features I expected to be easily accessible I had to search around for them. There needs to be more centralization.

In CyberArk Privileged Access Manager, I see room for improvement as I am working in the on-premises networks, and now we are also having the cloud-based PAM. So there, everything is maintained by the CyberArk Privileged Access Manager team, and we are only maintaining the PSM servers. So it is already upgraded from the on-premises network to the cloud network. If you ask me what we can implement beyond that, I just need a few minutes to think about what new things, because it is already an end-to-end security on-premises itself. Now, when it comes to PCloud, Privileged Cloud, it is more secure than the on-premises networks because most of the things are handled using the cloud itself. So it is an already upgraded version; we do not need to implement something new. But if you think in that way, we can have a chance to implement our things. If anything could be improved in CyberArk Privileged Access Manager, I think we could build a small agent AI in my team, we could give access to these logs—the Vault logs, PSM logs, and CPM logs. Whenever the system is going down, the AI will automatically check. If we actually implement agent AI in CyberArk Privileged Access Manager, it will check the logs, and if any errors are coming, it automatically triggers alerts and gives the solution. That is the best improvement I can think of because these days, most things are done by agent AI. So if we also implement this agent AI in CyberArk Privileged Access Manager, we can add more features.

Pros

"If you using IGA or access controls solutions then this solution is a good addon. Once Hitachi ID Privileged Access Manager is set up it does not require a lot of maintenance or attention."
"The automatic change of the password and Privileged Session Manager (PSM) are the most valuable features. With Privileged Session Manager, you can control the password management in a centralized way. You can activate these features in a session; the session isolation and recording. You apply the full intermediation principle. So, you must pass through CyberArk PAM to get access to the target system. You don't need to know the password, and everything that you do is registered and auditable. In this case, no one gets to touch the password directly. Also, you can implement detection and response behavior in case of a breach."
"The product enables us manage passwords of highly privileged (service) accounts, which are not tied to a person, and they include a full audit trail and approval workflow functionality."
"It's a highly flexible solution that can adapt to each customer's needs."
"Due to meaningless error messages, it is not possible to repair non-trivial errors without support, however, with support, we solved every problem."
"Increased our insight into how privileged accounts are being used and distributed within our footprint."
"The key aspects of privileged access management are being able rotate passwords, make sure someone is accountable, and tie it back to a user (when the system is being used)."
"I would recommend CyberArk Privileged Access Manager."
"Overall, I feel that this is a good product and I recommend it."

Cons

"Hitachi ID Privileged Access Manager is cumbersome and it does not operate by itself and relies on other solutions. Overall the way you configure things is a bit awkward compared to other solutions, such as Cyberark and Thycotic. The interface could be more intuitive, some features I expected to be easily accessible I had to search around for them. There needs to be more centralization."
"Hitachi ID Privileged Access Manager is cumbersome and it does not operate by itself and relies on other solutions."
"We would like to have more flexibility in the RBAC model and have more options to define who should have access to what, not only based on safe membership."
"We would, of course, always prefer it if the pricing was cheaper."
"I would like to see improvement in the custom connector for integration with different devices."
"Occasionally, there are lagging issues. Sometimes users have to re-login. When users copy passwords, there is sometimes a lag, so they have to log out and log in, but these are very rare cases."
"CyberArk Privileged Access Manager is more expensive than its competitors, such as BeyondTrust, Delinea, and ManageEngine PAM360."
"CyberArk reporting is notoriously poor, offering about 5 reports out of the box. I am certified in Delinea, which includes 60 reports plus a custom report generator out of the box. Improved reporting would be beneficial."
"The PTA could be improved. Currently, companies often have multiple domains and sometimes it's difficult to implement CyberArk in this kind of infrastructure. For example, you can add CPM (Central Policy Manager) and PSM (Privileged Session Manager and PVWA (Password Vault Web Access) for access, but if you want to add PTA (Privileged Threat Analysis) to scan Vault logs, it is difficult because this component may be adding multiple domain environments."
"There were a lot of manual steps in the initial setup which could have been automated. I read the 10.4 release that was sent out about a month or two ago, and I saw the steps required for upgrade have been reduced by about 90%. That was a big thing for me, but I still haven't seen that yet because we have not upgrade past 9.9.5."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of the solution is reasonable."
"CyberArk is very expensive and there are additional fees for add-ons."
"I focus more on the technical side, but I hear customers say that if CyberArk was more affordable, they might have acquired more licenses. Some clients consider alternative solutions due to pricing concerns."
"If you are looking at implementing this solution, buy the training and go to it."
"Pricing is a problem. CyberArk is expensive compared to other products I know. It is similar to buying a German car. It comes with all the bells and whistles, but some companies may find it too expensive."
"Network and security licenses are currently being managed by other outsource vendors, so they are facing some type of problems in the digital aspect."
"They have two types of licensing: purchase and subscription. You have to pay for each admin user, such as Microsoft admin, mail admin, database admin, etc."
"I haven't seen the numbers. I know it is not cheap, but I don't know what it is. I would rate it a six out of ten in terms of pricing. It is definitely more expensive than the other product, but it also provides more functionality, and it is modular too. So, we pay for the functionality we're actually going to use, and that's nice."
"Previously, the pricing was very meager. They started publicizing and advertising the solution, growing CyberArk, as an organization. They also changed their pricing with that growth, e.g., the pricier the product, the more people who will purchase it."
