Gave a better output every time, reduced our touch time by 80%, and had a robust reporting mechanism to improve the process
We tested HyperScience on structured formats of the forms, and it worked really well. We tested it with semi-structured formats, and it worked well. We also tested creating a new form that does not have any format. HyperScience has less capability while working on unstructured forms. Unstructured forms are those where there is no standard structure and the information can be anywhere on the form. They need to develop this capability. Such a capability would make it a perfect system for processes like data entry, accounts tables, etc. Secondly, before putting the actual volume in the tool, I believe that we have to create a manual form every time. If the procedure of creating the forms can be shortened or automated, it would help. It would reduce the manual effort of creating a form every time you start working on it. There should be an automated form creation system that does not require any manual intervention. Whenever a new form comes, the system should be able to create a dummy form for that. That will help.

Pre-trained models work well, but it is very expensive
We have to do manual validation for some of the things due to the OCR engine not being so accurate. For example, S is read as 5, 5 as S, 2 as Z, and Z as 2. In the case of currency, if one dot is missing, it gives a completely incorrect number. These discrepancies should be fixed because if the OCR itself doesn't work properly, then AI doesn't help with that. When AI is used for training models, the AI Center works precisely, but if the data itself is wrong, we can't do anything. If the extraction of data is proper, it definitely helps. However, 20% errors could be reduced if the OCR engine were better. In future updates, I would like to see better handling of issues such as when a dot is missing in currency, for example, with dollars, it should handle that automatically. It's very expensive. If the volume increases, we can't afford to use Document Understanding. We are thinking of moving to another solution because we are expecting 80,000 to 100,000 invoices.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One of the most valuable features of HyperScience is the user-training module. Whenever the extraction takes place, based on the way we have trained HyperScience, it would give us some success status or a certain confidence level. If the solution has processed something that it determined was not extracted correctly it will queue those items for manual review."
"It provides the best accuracy for handwritten forms, which is a struggle in the industry. You can take processes with a lot of manual work and streamline them through this tool."
"What I liked more about HyperScience was the quality of the OCR it is a lot better compared to Google."
"I like that compared to other tools, HyperScience works best with handwritten documents."
"Having a tool like HyperScience which facilitates the process of converting digital copies of the scanned documents and provides us with the extracted data has helped us to facilitate further automation."
"HyperScience is good for structured and semi-structured document extraction and it's easy to learn."
"I like that compared to other tools, HyperScience works best with handwritten documents."
"Valuable features include tools like IQ Bot and the ability to extract handwritten documents with 93-95 per cent accuracy, which can be improved using ML technology."
"UiPath Document Understanding produces a high accuracy rate of 98 percent."
"The most valuable feature of UiPath Document Understanding is the AI Center."
"The taxonomy and Validation Station are among the most helpful features for us. If anything is extracted incorrectly, we can manually extract it there."
"The main benefits that UiPath Document Understanding provides include an increase in productivity, as it takes over tasks from humans, especially in Italy, where finding qualified people is challenging."
"The best feature, in my opinion, is, we can train the document using a machine-learning classifier."
"UiPath enables us to automate manual tasks and duplicate them easily. The processes are highly accurate."
"Machine learning is the most valuable feature of UiPath Document Understanding."
"We can integrate document understanding with other systems and applications."

Cons

"The solution lacks support for a greater range of languages."
"HyperScience is a stable solution, but there are some improvements needed in terms of the language support and support of dictionaries."
"HyperScience could improve the unstructured data extraction feature."
"The product's usability could be better."
"HyperScience has less capability while working on unstructured forms. Unstructured forms are those where there is no standard structure and the information can be anywhere on the form. They need to develop this capability."
"The solution lacks support for a variety of languages."
"The solution is expensive."
"No solution is perfect and there are several different scenarios that could be improved in HyperScience. One area is where there are multiple tables in the same form I have seen HyperScience struggle. There is some issue with supporting the extraction from multiple tables involved on the same form. If this could improve, it would be a big benefit."
"UiPath Document Understanding's ability to handle diverse document formats, including scans and signatures, needs improvement."
"If the volume increases, we can't afford to use Document Understanding. We are thinking of moving to another solution because we are expecting 80,000 to 100,000 invoices."
"The rising annual licensing cost of UiPath's Document Understanding product is a major turnoff for users."
"One area of improvement for UiPath Document Understanding is the accuracy of handwritten documents. While the solution supports handwritten documents, the accuracy percentage is not as high as desired."
"The coding machine learning could be a little bit better."
"UiPath Document Understanding has challenges with handwriting and screenshots."
"Right now, we are trying to use Instabase, which is another tool for document understanding. It may be one step ahead. It is faster than UiPath."
"A lot of coding is required to make handwriting decoding happen; it's not so easy as plug and play."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I don't have any idea about the licensing costs, but I know that there was a per-page charge. They had different models of pricing. One of them was based on the minimum number of pages, and we had a fixed price. So, the price model depends on the volume that is coming through HyperScience."
"I think HyperScience is cheaper when compared to other tools. They also have a lifetime licensing option."
"It's expensive, but you can reduce the price per license by getting more licenses. Overall, the pricing is okay."
"UiPath is a pricey tool for small customers."
"The solution’s cost increases for machine learning or artificial intelligence because we have to go for UiPath Orchestrator."
"UiPath Document Understanding is considered a bit expensive compared to other options like Microsoft Azure, which can offer similar quality at a more affordable rate."
"For the licensing part, in our company, we initially started off with a monthly plan, but yearly plans are also there. Cost-wise, UiPath Document Understanding is good since it provides flexibility in its pricing."
"UiPath Document Understanding is priced high compared to its competition."
"Document Understanding's price is quite high."
"UiPath Document Understanding offers fair pricing, primarily if you consider the number of resources and human work the solution reduces, plus the ROI you can get from it."
