Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Gave a better output every time, reduced our touch time by 80%, and had a robust reporting mechanism to improve the process
We tested HyperScience on structured formats of the forms, and it worked really well. We tested it with semi-structured formats, and it worked well. We also tested creating a new form that does not have any format. HyperScience has less capability while working on unstructured forms. Unstructured forms are those where there is no standard structure and the information can be anywhere on the form. They need to develop this capability. Such a capability would make it a perfect system for processes like data entry, accounts tables, etc. Secondly, before putting the actual volume in the tool, I believe that we have to create a manual form every time. If the procedure of creating the forms can be shortened or automated, it would help. It would reduce the manual effort of creating a form every time you start working on it. There should be an automated form creation system that does not require any manual intervention. Whenever a new form comes, the system should be able to create a dummy form for that. That will help.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"With Automation Anywhere, it will automate everything; it's smooth, effective, and very quick, making it easy to maintain websites and everything in the backend team while filtering out errors so everything is automated."
"The most valuable feature is the screen recorder, which helps to automate processes easily."
"There are things that used to take us a lot of time, like manual entries or HR queries, but now that the bots are in place, we are saving a lot of time."
"Looking at overall feasibility from features to costing perspective, I strongly feel Automation Anywhere offers a lot of features and scalability and is a very good tool overall and people who have not tried should give a try and put some hands-on."
"It automates forms for our customers and our analysts."
"We work on SAP as well as many other internal platforms, and this solution can very easily be moved between them."
"With IQ Bot, we can now include cognitive automation into our process. The cognitive document processing is pretty good with IQ Bot."
"We have a close relationship with our account manager and technical support. This relationship makes the difference."
"Having a tool like HyperScience which facilitates the process of converting digital copies of the scanned documents and provides us with the extracted data has helped us to facilitate further automation."
"One of the most valuable features of HyperScience is the user-training module. Whenever the extraction takes place, based on the way we have trained HyperScience, it would give us some success status or a certain confidence level. If the solution has processed something that it determined was not extracted correctly it will queue those items for manual review."
"HyperScience is good for structured and semi-structured document extraction and it's easy to learn."
"If accuracy and customer satisfaction are your goals, then you should go for this solution."
"It provides the best accuracy for handwritten forms, which is a struggle in the industry. You can take processes with a lot of manual work and streamline them through this tool."
"We have seen pretty good accuracy."
"For our use case, it provided a complete workflow, reduced our existing touch time by 80%, and from the point of view of technology, it is one of the leading platforms right now in the OCR world."
"Has algorithms that can detect a document template even if the image has a lot of distortions."

Cons

"The price has room for improvement."
"Providing a desktop version rather than focusing on the cloud is essential. Only UiPath offers a studio environment for desktop application development."
"They have a ridiculously expensive bot licensing structure, especially for the Asian region."
"One aspect I wish to mention regarding needed improvements is that Automation Anywhere currently works only on Windows systems."
"It would be great if there will be a built-in machine learning model available in the AA, so the developer can directly map it with their task and train the model accordingly."
"PDF extraction and cognitive automation need improvement."
"In terms of improvements for Automation Anywhere, I would prefer to see more options in packages and pricing, including a breakdown of different features and products, which would allow us to select certain products while potentially skipping others as needed."
"I suggest having more ways to perform string manipulations and string operations, instead of just what is pre-defined in the V11 tool."
"HyperScience is a stable solution, but there are some improvements needed in terms of the language support and support of dictionaries."
"The product's usability could be better. The first pain point is that we're getting the output in a different format, and we were expecting a different timetable. The second point is that if you want better results, HyperScience says you have to configure a minimal PDF or a maximum of 400 PDFs. If you want results with 400 PDFs for what's written by these doctors, then you also configure the maximum of 400 templates for that. So, it's essentially a lack of support from HyperScience. In the next release, it would be better if failure scenarios were reduced. It would also help if they offered different formats, inputs or injections, and added different scenarios."
"HyperScience could improve the unstructured data extraction feature."
"No solution is perfect and there are several different scenarios that could be improved in HyperScience. One area is where there are multiple tables in the same form I have seen HyperScience struggle. There is some issue with supporting the extraction from multiple tables involved on the same form. If this could improve, it would be a big benefit."
"Extracting tables from certain documents could be improved."
"The solution lacks support for a greater range of languages."
"HyperScience has less capability while working on unstructured forms. Unstructured forms are those where there is no standard structure and the information can be anywhere on the form. They need to develop this capability."
"One area is where there are multiple tables in the same form I have seen HyperScience struggle."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We save 34,000 hours of time per year and have recouped up to $6000 in lost revenue."
"It is somewhere in the middle. The price and value of Automation Anywhere are better than UiPath. The pricing is good globally. It could be a little bit cheaper, but it is good."
"They all are very competitive today. At the end of the day, it boils down to the negotiations that happen and what type of partner you are."
"We have seen ROI in terms of cost and time with a couple of our projects."
"In the Indian market, I feel that for mid-size companies, such as ourselves, that having multiple bots costs a lot. If Automation Anywhere wants to expand in the Indian market, they will need to look at their pricing."
"I do not know the price, but I am told that it is cheaper than UiPath."
"I find the license pricing to be competitive and reflective of the pricing models throughout the RPA space, and I believe there is a lot of value in continuing to maintain the free community edition platform."
"Considering the cost, it is a bit high, but worth the price because the output accuracy is high."
"I don't have any idea about the licensing costs, but I know that there was a per-page charge. They had different models of pricing. One of them was based on the minimum number of pages, and we had a fixed price. So, the price model depends on the volume that is coming through HyperScience."
"I think HyperScience is cheaper when compared to other tools. They also have a lifetime licensing option."
