Automation platforms streamline processes and offer flexibility, but AI integration and version upgrades pose challenges
In the technology world, there is always room for improvement. Technologies evolve day by day, especially with the emergence of artificial intelligence and generative AI models. Although IBM BPM is a substantial product, adopting and integrating new technologies quickly is not easy due to the migration and upgrade paths involved. Every time new versions are released, we face business and production challenges that make rapid adoption challenging. The main concern bothering me today regarding IBM BPM is the integration of AI components.

Enabled us to consolidate workflows and reduce time spent searching for transactions
We have consolidated the workflow and have certain elements and functionalities developed in the new system so that my agents who are using the application don't have to do manual tasks searching for mail. So, we've consolidated and arranged some alerts and have done some segregation. The user is benefited, and the time spent on searching a transaction is reduced.

Pros

"If you're trying to lower and contain your costs or mitigate a lot of risk, there is nothing like the IBM Cloud."
"I think the best way it can be it improved, is to make it easier to install. It's a very complicated piece of software, and there are a lot of things you have to do to get it set up. It's not just running an installer. You install WebSphere. You install the BPM product, and there's a large host of other steps you have to do: run queries against the database, you have to manually configure a bunch of properties files for your environment. I think if they could streamline all that, so it wasn't a considerable effort to install, that would be very useful. Because from an engineering point of view, you want to spend as little time as possible actually installing a product."
"Responsive Portal + Process Federation Server. This set of solutions offers a unified worklist to our customers."
"IBM BPM's best features include document sharing, management document creation, widget and barcode creation, and integration."
"It excels at analytics. It provides visibility across all activities of a company's processes and performance."
"IBM BPM is both scalable and stable."
"Its dashboard is easy to use and very good. It allows us to customize."
"If you are looking for a good solution where you don't need to do multiple enhancements and there is a good troubleshooting and support team, you can definitely go ahead with this solution."
"Good for static workflows, and the customer support team is proactive and accommodating."
"The most valuable features of Newgen OmniFlow are the user interface, the low-code no-code designer tools, and the integration models are important."
"The most valuable features of Newgen OmniFlow are the user interface, the low-code no-code designer tools, and the integration models are important."
"The UI is easy. It's not very code based, so you can make certain changes on your end."
"This solution is very cost effective and very flexible."
"The most valuable feature for us is the Omnicon, because our company is now able to capture information from documents."
"We have consolidated the workflow and have certain elements and functionalities developed in the new system so that my agents who are using the application don't have to do manual tasks searching for mail."
"We have a huge customer satisfaction rate because we try to accommodate all the requirements of their business."

Cons

"Except for the Lucene the index - we had a couple of issues in the Process Portal where the Lucene index went out of sync, and we had to work at least 15 - 20 hours to have it back in sync with the database."
"It's under performance, maybe the moving from one activity to other activity, or one process step to other process step takes awhile."
"The pricing is a little bit high. It's gone up in cost."
"The debugging needs improvement. There is some confusion surrounding the debugging."
"They don't have a mechanism to achieve processes, data sources, and data."
"Needs better reporting. I do not think that we are fully taking advantage of what it already has yet."
"User Interface components could be further refined to enhance and extend customizations dictated by end clients."
"IBM could improve the price. It is far too expensive."
"The development teams should be more agile and they need to have more team members."
"In terms of stability, like every product, it has its issues."
"From what I have seen so far, this system is too hardcoded and inflexible."
"I would like to see more automated analytics built into the solution."
"The development teams should be more agile and they need to have more team members."
"On scalability, if you count the scale from 1 to 10, I would give Newgen a zero because we are unable to achieve any in-house enhancements or new processes."
"I would like to see more automated analytics built into the solution."
"There should be some reporting and dashboarding capabilities. I don't see such capabilities built into it. Sometimes, the leadership wants to understand the business cases that we want to automate. We face a lot of challenges to justify why we are using Newgen, and we need a way to present that to the leadership. If there is something out of the box and if we can get meaningful dashboards and reporting capabilities, it would be helpful."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It should provide more flexibility to connect with external systems, and there should be in-built services that can be used to integrate with other systems quickly."
"We have definitely seen ROI. When we first kicked it off, we said it had to pay for itself within three years, and it did."
"The price of the solution is fair for an enterprise solution that has both cloud and on-premise deployments and when comparing to competitors. Recently IBM has introduced Cloud Pak which allows for more flexible licensing options for automation and other features."
"Our customers do see ROI. They'll identify some particularly painful or uncoordinated processes to start with, then build out from there, picking off low hanging fruit."
"IBM BPM cannot be considered a cheaply priced product. IBM BPM is a really expensive product compared to other companies. One needs to opt for the perpetual licensing model offered by IBM."
"Price wise, IBM BPM is cheaper than other similar solutions and has excellent pricing."
"It gives us a good return on investment."
"I wish it was less expensive. I don't know why their pricing model is so high for a piece of software that could benefit so many. It just seems to me that they could have a lower cost, maybe with fewer features or whatever, but it should be possible to do a lower cost workflow software that uses the same interface and underlying engine but does not cost so much that you have to be a Fortune 50 company to buy it. It is annoying to me. There are a lot of solutions that IBM has that are really powerful but nobody can afford them. They know their business, but I still feel that there are a lot of customers who would benefit from this sort of thing. I don't know what this elitism is all about. I am sure they have people doing the money numbers, but it seems like you can make a lot more money by selling it to way more people for a little bit less."
"Its price is a bit on the high side, but that's okay. From a company perspective, it is reasonable."
"The on-prem solution is affordable. The cloud solution is more expensive. There are no additional costs to the standard licensing fees."
"The price of Newgen OmniFlow is priced reasonably."
"Overall, this solution is very cost effective when compared to other solutions in the market."
