Strengthening financial services infrastructure by safeguarding and integrating with ecosystems
We use CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager to complement a privilege access management solution in order to avoid golden ticket attacks and strengthen services against attacks. It serves as a complement to our asset management solution. The architecture of CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager is beneficial for integrating with all customer ecosystems; it's easy to deploy, and achieving that level of integration and control is more challenging with other solutions. The ability of CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager to safeguard our financial services infrastructure is very important, as we need to record actions on privileges in our information systems. Regarding the granularity of the managed controls in CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager, we have different levels of features to define compensations and capabilities, which help us verify configurations and access, ultimately keeping the safety of rights intact. Our initial challenge with CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager is to comply with Colombian regulations in the financial sector, particularly identifying users and managing password changes and rotations. We needed to certify the identities and provide necessary information for government investigations, if required. CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager is very important for helping our organization meet compliance and regulatory requirements. We have to comply with international regulations such as SOC, but also with local regulations unique to the financial sector, which is crucial for us due to the high risks involved. CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager helped us reduce the time for regulatory processes to approximately two to four months, completing the solution and training. CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager has helped us reduce the mean time to detect within our organization. That's our main goal. Regarding MTTD, the solution provides enough information to enhance our overall detection process. We have an 85% improvement in MTTD. CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager helps ensure data privacy through strategies that manage information in real-time. CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager helps save costs by avoiding risks and future expenses associated with security incidents. It's essential to communicate the value of CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager to users, as its controls help improve system security. My role at the company involves service and sales activities.

Improves security alerts and analysis with comprehensive insights
I would like to see improvements in the score consistency and accuracy. VirusTotal should add more details like those from competitors such as URL Void or Symantec URL Checker, which show the category of websites. The addition of a file selection option to analyze files would also enhance the service.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I like that you can remove the admin rights from the user's computer and have control over the environment."
"You can use it to strip users of their local admin rights and, at the same time, elevate applications for them."
"We can do both server and endpoint protection."
"The solution is scalable."
"All of the features are valuable."
"Our setup process is moving to the cloud, which is very good. It reduces complexity."
"I am impressed with the product's seamless integration. The PAM wallet and enterprise password wallet are good also good."
"The solution allows me to give access and privileges to each user individually"
"The most valuable feature is the worldwide malware information database."
"It can scan the dark web and find if an email ID has been compromised. This is another area that we have not explored yet."
"It provides detailed insights into possible malicious behavior, dropped files, and TCP connections."
"The initial setup is easy."
"The feature I like the most is the ability to see the MD5 or SHA-256 signature of the file, and also the composition of the file according to its segments."
"The product is easy to use with coding, such as Python or Java, via its API."
"With VirusTotal, I can check for any hash, malware, file, domain, IP URL, or malicious URL, and Kaspersky stays clean."
"VirusTotal provides 95% to 98% accurate information."

Cons

"It was complex to introduction the product to the end-users and the technical team."
"Despite newer versions and functionalities, CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager lacks sufficient knowledgeable support staff, resulting in longer wait times for assistance."
"It cannot be on-prem. It is only cloud-based. Sometimes, that's a restriction in terms of usage."
"The management of Privilege Access is not satisfactory."
"One area that has room for improvement is in managing the credentials for network devices."
"CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager is a perfect solution, but CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager for Linux has many issues. Another area for improvement in CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager, specifically for Windows, is that there's no way for you to check credential theft from a text file, such as a notepad file."
"A customization option is required for certain policies. For instance, if we need to stop PowerShell scripting, we have to create a different policy for that. Being able to create a sub-level policy within a top-level policy would be good."
"CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager can improve its Identity Governance, which is already working effectively yet could continue to enhance its capabilities."
"VirusTotal has predefined reports, but there is a lot of manual effort involved."
"There should be room for improvement, particularly in the API side of things."
"VirusTotal needs better advertisement and promotion, especially in the Middle East, since it is not yet widely recognized or popular in that region."
"I would like to see improvements in the score consistency and accuracy."
"The platform could improve in the areas of endpoints and networks."
"I would like to see an improved user interface and some automation."
"I would like to see improved correlation with other threat intelligence sources, not just reliant on its own database, to enhance the database of threat intelligence that VirusTotal offers."
"VirusTotal is hard to understand because you need to know Google Docs to create queries, and it doesn't have documentation for that."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is an expensive solution."
"The tool's pricing is reasonable for customers."
"CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager is slightly expensive, but costs can be negotiated to become more competitive."
"I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten since the price can be too high for smaller businesses."

"I think that it was in the range of $200,000 that had to get approved."
"The solution requires an annual license to use it. There can be some extra costs in some cases."
"The professional services for one eight-hour day would be $1,800."
