Provides cost efficiency and flexible control over clusters
The managed offering has two models: Polaris and Hybrid. We explored both during the PoC phase. The Hybrid model gives you the flexibility to keep your data safe on your own site but still have a managed service to control your infrastructure. The Polaris model, on the other hand, does not give you an insight into what kind of AWS box you are using. Based on your capacity planning, you can just choose the correct size of the box. It also gives you a dashboard. I would like Imply to include more flexible billing models with added options for superior infrastructure control, flexibility in scaling, and cost-effectiveness, such as choosing the number of CPUs required. We should have more flexibility and control over the infrastructure in terms of upscaling and downscaling. Currently, there are only certain tightly bound options. With more flexible options, more customers will adopt the solution.

Cloud database has supported charity platform growth and has improved team delivery speed
Setting up MongoDB Atlas is very easy, as I simply select the cluster and the size I want. There are free clusters available for testing real applications, and it is a NoSQL-based database that works well for both web and mobile applications, providing real-time analytics-driven solutions where flexible schema is the main priority. The best feature MongoDB Atlas offers is the flexible database schema that I can easily set up. It is easy to set up, has no server setup cost, requires no manual setting, and has no downtime. The platform automatically handles traffic spikes and includes built-in features such as storage, auto-scaling, automatic backup, and point-in-time recovery. Auto-scaling and backups have been instrumental in my project using MongoDB Atlas, especially when I moved from UAT to production. My customer base of more than 10 lakhs increased, and the system automatically scaled to handle those requests, ensuring the database could respond in time. MongoDB Atlas has an aggregation framework that handles complex analytics without requiring any extra tools. It also provides real-time updates and streaming capabilities. MongoDB Atlas has positively impacted my organization by reducing operational costs, as I do not need database administrators or server maintenance. It follows a pay-as-you-go strategy, allowing me to increase cluster size by simply paying more, which results in faster development and deployment processes. High availability is also provided through built-in replications and automatic failovers. My team consists of 18 people, and our uptime has improved to 99.9% and above. The delivery speed has increased, and I have reduced the delivery cycle by 30 to 50 percent.

Pros

"One of the best parts of the solution is the Hybrid model that allows flexibility to keep control over the clusters."
"We have not faced any downtime."
"For security reasons, I prefer MongoDB Atlas. It supports role-based access control, so you have an entity for each individual."
"Its most valuable features are high availability and zero maintenance."
"Our databases used to be in-house. Now, they are in the cloud with MongoDB and everything is much easier."
"What I found most valuable in MongoDB Atlas is its Elasticsearch feature. It also has high availability, so it's stable."
"Being schemaless is what I like best about MongoDB Atlas."
"I am impressed with the tool's integrations."
"This solution is very helpful due to its ease of use."
"The most beneficial MongoDB features for our workload are the ability to scale up and down using automatic sharding and clustering."

Cons

"I would like Imply to include more flexible billing models with added options for superior infrastructure control, flexibility in scaling, and cost-effectiveness, such as choosing the number of CPUs required. We should have more flexibility and control over the infrastructure in terms of upscaling and downscaling. Currently, there are only certain tightly bound options."
"I would like Imply to include more flexible billing models with added options for superior infrastructure control, flexibility in scaling, and cost-effectiveness, such as choosing the number of CPUs required."
"An improvement I can suggest for MongoDB Atlas is achieving even faster query execution and smoother application performance."
"It would be better if there were more integration capabilities with other products."
"The web console isn't very intuitive, especially for large data."
"When I edit a document from a document, a lot of clicking is involved, like changing data type manually from a drop-down. It would be super nice if I could just edit the document in a JSON format. The JSON-based document editor should have a multi-language feature. Also, it would be great if there was a connect option from Google Looker Studio."
"The replica side, like the venue, can be improved."
"The installation was straightforward except for the network hardware because it was a little complicated to make the connection with our VPC on AWS."
"I would like the solution to offer more integration capabilities since it is an area where the solution lacks."
"I would like to have better performance for user experience with the solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Imply pricing is in the middle range. Understanding the data model can help reduce overall system costs."
"MongoDB Atlas is more cost-effective than Amazon DocumentDB. It also has a pay-as-you-go pricing model. Apart from the standard licensing cost, you must also pay to get MongoDB Atlas technical support, which is expensive."
"MongoDB Atlas is not expensive, and since it's a cloud-based solution, you pay by usage."
"The pricing is not that expensive, but it can be, especially when we have deployed it across multiple zones."
"It is too expensive. They need to work on this."
"We pay for the license on a monthly basis. It's not cheap or expensive. For smaller companies, it's definitely expensive."
"For our service, it was around 300 to 600 euros per month, which was acceptable for our customers."
"Comparing the price between the MongoDB and Microsoft SQL Server, we are using the enterprise edition of Microsoft SQL Server, which is more expensive than MongoDB."
"The pricing is good. We originally chose it over DynamoDB because of the pricing."
