Has supported complex data pipeline creation but performance tuning and monitoring responsiveness need improvement
Sometimes, I see various performance issues with Informatica PowerCenter, including caching concerns, whether it's a joiner transformation or other transformations, so I believe the team can enhance the performance perspectives of these transformations. Additionally, sometimes the Informatica Monitor hangs or takes time to open the current run or logs, which the team can also look into. Informatica is transitioning to cloud solutions and discontinuing on-premise support after 2026, so when we discuss Informatica Cloud and its support, it becomes quite expensive for the organization compared to peers such as SnapLogic or Netezza, which offer lower pricing. Informatica Cloud Intelligence's pricing is notably high.

AI compliance integration elevates data quality and decision-making
I usually implement Precisely and Collibra tools for clients to enhance data quality. My main use case involves working with the data catalog of Precisely to integrate data management processes and ensure data governance Precisely has the AI Act already implemented into the data catalog, which…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product's initial setup phase is very easy."
"The reliability of the product and the way of orchestration of different services is valuable to us."
"I would recommend that others considering the solution go ahead and use it for any batch and high volume loads with complex transactions."
"The support is valuable. There are also open-source ETL products, which work very well, but there is no support. When we face a production problem, being able to get support is valuable, and it brings efficiency. With an open-source solution, we can't engage anyone to resolve the problem as quickly as possible."
"Technical support, and their approach is good. They have a support portal and support tickets. If you open a ticket it has multiple levels of severity from level one to very high or critical."
"The most valuable features are the metadata repository and the data warehouse application console."
"The setup is very simple."
"Informatica PowerCenter has good user feedback. The developers can easily make mappings in the solution."
"Precisely has the AI Act already implemented into the data catalog, which allows the integration of the European Artificial Intelligence Act into our processes."
"Using Precisely improves data quality, which can lead to a 30% increase in revenue and boost net income by 20% to 25% if implemented correctly."

Cons

"Integration with Artificial Intelligence would benefit this solution."
"Requires an established data center because there is no option for software as a service."
"Compared to solutions offering similar functionalities, Informatica PowerCenter is not very flexible regarding customized integrations."
"If you want to transfer a ZIP file, it is a pain. You need to use Command-Line. Sometimes we just want to transfer a file. It should be easy to move them from A to B."
"If we could have the option of performance improvement within Informatica, and if it could have more features, that would be ideal."
"Informatica PowerCenter could improve the data threshold for large sets of data. Additionally, they should add real-time integration."
"PowerCenter could integrate better with cloud applications. We had to do a lot of configuration work using API integrations to connect with cloud applications. Informatica Cloud Data Integration has a generic connector that you can use directly, so it's much easier."
"The developer tool documentation can be enhanced with a more clear explanation of each utility, accompanied by relevant examples, so that developers are able to create programs with ease."
"Precisely works with a tool called Analyze, which has a steep learning curve due to its use of Jython, a combination of Java and Python. This could be improved to make the tool more user-friendly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the pricing for this solution a six out of ten. The exact pricing depends on various products that you have."
"The price of Informatica PowerCenter is expensive, but it does give value."
"It is for big enterprises. We have leveraged Informatica for big enterprises but not for small and medium enterprises because it is a very costly product as compared to other products. We propose this solution only for enterprise customers. For small to medium enterprises, we would propose the Microsoft solution. Its licensing is currently bundle-wise. It should be features-wise and not bundle-wise."
"The license model is CPU based."
"The price of this solution is high."
"Informatica PowerCenter is reasonably priced. It is less expensive than Pentaho. There is a standard version fee in Taiwan. It is a one-time yearly subscription price that is approximately $3,010 US dollars for three users."
"The pricing for Informatica PowerCenter is expensive. Some clients have simple needs and only want to integrate and store data. Some clients have small needs, while some clients have bigger needs and focus more on performance and time. The licensing cost for Informatica PowerCenter isn't good. In my project, if I remember correctly, the company pays €20,000 per year for the Informatica PowerCenter license. I'm not aware of additional costs that you need to pay for some features of the solution. On a scale of one to five, I'm rating its price a three."
"Our customers pay a licensing fee yearly."
