Enables customers to build their own reports, but performance could be better
The most important criterion when selecting a vendor is reliability. I would give this solution a seven out of 10. It does some good stuff, but there needs to be more performance. Make sure that you have really good people working on the server administration, to make sure you're doing it right, the setup is right.

Daily invoice analytics has become streamlined and complex data modeling is now simplified
We are not using analytics features and possibly predictive analytics and forecasting features in QlikView, although they are available. QlikView is very flexible, but we are currently using only tabular presentation of data because that is what we need. Presenting a large volume of data in QlikView with graphics can be overwhelming for the majority of people who want to see a lot of information in one picture. It would be beneficial to have AI or ML features in QlikView. However, I think they will decommission QlikView, and AI features are already available in Qlik Sense, so you would need to migrate to that platform.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Rapid development and deployment of solutions with low-cost server-based licensing is attractive in high user count environments."
"A must have for the business looking to understand their processes in an easy to consume way"
"People really like the way the reports look, there are lots of fancy bells and whistles on the report designer."
"Self-service reporting modules allow customers to build their own reports."
"We have cut Fire Department 911 response time 8-30 seconds, improved the timeliness, accuracy, and consistency of reporting, and increased compliance of firefighter training and certification, ensuring that firefighters are properly trained and improving our performance on training and certification audits from our regulatory agency."
"It is very simple to use."
"The scalability is there."
"It helps to provide answers quickly for critical business questions."
"None – During a stress test it was able to load 38 million records without any problems on simple dual core PC with ONLY 1 GB OF RAM (absolutely amazing. I would not have believed it to be possible but I did the test myself)."
"The associative/relationship engine and fast performance are the most valuable features of the product for me."
"We are now able to get information when we need it without running reports or it taking a huge amount of time."
"It’s an easy way to create dashboards with minimal training."

Cons

"It needs a much lower price. They are jacking up the price every year, which is wrong."
"The only feature I would like to see at this point is a normalized curve for Histograms"
"Performance dependant on back-end much more than some other toolsets."
"They should offer the capability to directly access data from SaaS environments, as it would simplify the migration process, and while it may seem like a minor enhancement, it would be beneficial to our clients."
"There can be issues in terms of stability during usage peeks."
"It is really missing a comprehensive semantic/metadata layer and security/data profiling can be hard to accomplish at corporate level without a high level of scripting."
"We anticipate difficulties in expanding its use due to the high cost of licenses."
"Installation and deployment could be made easier and quicker."
"I would like to see improvements to scheduled reporting and the capability to email the user."
"QlikView should not loose its original flavour."
"There are two reasons for my rating. First, the interactivity options are limited and, second, modelling options are not available."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It needs a much lower price. They are jacking up the price every year, which is wrong."
"I rate QlikView's pricing a five out of ten."
"It has an annual license. It is expensive as compared to other competitive tools that do more for less. In South African rands, we pay about 100,000 to 200,000 a year."
"It's reasonably priced and falls on the more affordable side."
"It is quite expensive, rating at around nine out of ten on a cost scale."
"The pricing is moderate, in the medium price range."
"I rate the product's pricing a three out of ten."
"Its licensing costs are moderate, but it can get expensive due to the numerous add-ons available like those for printing."
"The setup costs for QlikView are fair as are the yearly maintenance fees. The licensing becomes a bit more expensive and requires some planning for onboarding."
