We previously used Microsoft Exchange but have moved to an MDN email solution due to cost and user growth Microsoft Exchange is a user-friendly and easy-to-deploy solution, which is beneficial for handling emails even without professional support. It is effective in managing email integration…

One of the premium features was customized rooms tailored to the collaboration needs
Zimbra's strength lies in its individuality, and it should focus on leveraging its unique features rather than trying to emulate competitors. My organization has certified Zimbra technicians, so we believe we can utilize Zimbra certification. However, I was recently informed by Zimbra that no such certification exists. I have recently completed the test kit, and after the training, I will gain access to tickets. Therefore, if any clients are experiencing issues, we have a certified technical team available to provide support 24/7. This is how we can cater to our client's needs. I recommend Zimbra to small-scale and enterprise customers. Anyone, even those with 5 users, can opt for Zimbra. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This solution has improved the collaboration between our organization and our partners and contractors."
"I find Exchange's basic mail features to be highly valuable."
"Microsoft Exchange is highly stable for the end-user systems. When we move to Office 365, it will be even more stable even. There's less administration required and it's very robust. We are really quite happy in using that."
"We have always used Exchange, that's a strategic choice for our company, and we are confident in Microsoft because their support is always there for us."
"The platform's most valuable feature is the mailbox roles."
"Microsoft provides you with an ease of control and management and sets certain expectations from the software that you can't have if you implement other, cheaper solutions that are likely to be more difficult to manage or that are unable to adapt to new demands."
"Microsoft Exchange's most valuable feature is that it's old-fashioned communication, meaning it's good for people who aren't able to work comfortably in a cloud environment."
"Provides unlimited storage for our mailbox."
"Zimbra Collaboration is mainly used for messaging, emails, calendars, video conferencing, and document sharing."
"Zimbra Collaboration has integrated a lot of their party tools and they have good documentation available."
"It is the best open source collaboration suite that I know, because it provides high availability and more performance than the other solutions."
"This is a good email solution and it's open-source which is great and the most important feature for us."
"The most valuable feature of Zimbra for our team's productivity is its efficiency in handling email communication."
"Zimbra Collaboration is light to manage. It works on the Linux operating system, which is far better to manage than Microsoft Windows. Microsoft Exchange works only on the Windows server. We prefer working on the Linux server for security reasons and ease of management. Zimbra Collaboration also has some integrated tools for security. It some modules to fight malware. These modules are not very powerful but are still doing a great job. Microsoft Exchange doesn't have a basic module. You have to purchase a security solution and add it to the solution. The cost of Zimbra Collaboration is one more reason for liking it. It is also very simple to migrate from Zimbra Collaboration to another email solution."
"The most valuable feature of Zimbra Collaboration is the cost."
"It has all collaboration features, such as document sharing, video conferencing, chatting, task sharing, and calendar sharing."

Cons

"I think that improvements should be made in creating greater abilities for Microsoft Exchange in terms of Research and Development."
"There are limitations in terms of the number of emails that can be sent in a minute, which makes it a little difficult for the marketing folks."
"The licensing model could be improved."
"In terms of probability, every now and then there are changes coming and going."
"Microsoft Exchange needs to improve how it handles and assigns policy and security."
"Technical support could be improved. It takes you a while to get through to a technician, especially on the Microsoft side."
"We would prefer to be able to manage the solution on the cloud."
"Sometimes the client part generates some trouble. It can be very slow, though this might be related to our company's installation and configuration rather than the product itself."
"The installation is not straightforward, it can take two days for the full implementation."
"The solution could improve by making it easier to use."
"Zimbra Collaboration could improve the migration from a basic solution to a more containerized solution. For example, the installation should be able to extend to the containers and manage them with some solution, such as OpenShift or Kubernetes."
"It would be great if a group chat feature were created to allow for a team environment."
"In the next release, Zimbra Collaboration should include a security feature to allow access for mobile device administrators."
"Zimbra should provide a desktop client. Right now, we are using a web browser for accessing our emails. There should also be a desktop client."
"The solution’s forums don't have much information or documentation on administration tasks."
"Some issues cause the solution not to function correctly or to cause downtime once a month."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This solution is expensive."
"We are currently using enterprise licenses for the solution. They are different pricing models available. There are individual, cloud-based, and enterprise licenses all with different pricing models. The larger the number of users, the lesser the price. For small to medium companies like us, we feel it is expensive."
"Compared to the other options in the market, the licensing costs attached to Microsoft Exchange seem reasonable."
"The solution is expensive to maintain because it requires frequent updates and ongoing server maintenance."
"We pay for the license annually."
"Microsoft's licensing structure is too complex, but its prices are affordable, though not cheap."
"The price of Microsoft Exchange is reasonable."
"They are flexible when it comes to pricing, unlike most of the other vendors I have dealt with."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate the price a four"
"There is an annual standard licensing fee to use Zimbra Collaboration and there is no other cost."
"We pay yearly licenses for Zimbra Collaboration."
"I use Zimbra Collaboration's community version. We may move to the enterprise version since prices are affordable."
"Zimbra Collaboration is expensive, and there is no perpetual license option."
"When it comes to the licensing of Zimbra Collaboration, my license covers the servers and I find its terms to be much simpler than those of Microsoft Exchange."
"The price of the solution is low."
"We do not pay for licenses to use this solution."
